UPN's "I'm Still Alive" tonight (4/28) at 9:00PM feature's Tim Bernard hangar incident from Rantoul last year. Sorry East coast, I didn't know it was on until now. West coasters, watch it if you can. If anyone from Elsinore can tape it I'd appreciate it (we don't have cable/satellite). Tim just called me from up east, said the spot on the show was very well put together. The show several different perspectives, computer generated animation in slow-mo or what happened and interview Tim and his son. Tim said it's towards the latter half of the 1 hour show, about a 5 minute segment. For those who don't know, Tim was trying to pull off a stunt of swooping into and carving out of one of the big hangars in Rantoul. He just barely clipped the doorway with the edge of the canopy but that was enough to send him flying out of control and land hard on the concrete. You can see some photos of this and other stunts he's done on his website: http://www.frankenass.com/ Here is Tim and myself enjoying our memorable time in Carle... My heart sank when I read this news. I can only hope that the strength and determination Paul has shown in skydiving will now lead the way to recovery. Cajones and I are sending lots of love from Elsinore. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Mary you just fucking rock. You're too kind. And you too Rosa. Thank you. I actually like being tall, though I know many tall women who don't. I typically find that I intimidate guys though, but not one good one, so it's all good now. Seriously, i love guys that love tall women. Too many guys want the little petite body (*Rosa!) that is not possible here. I tried to get 5'13" put on my license, but the DMV wouldn't do it. Clay, i'll jump with you... just find me at Rantoul... I met another tall woman this weekend, Joy (Joi?) from Deland/Titusville. She's tall and beautiful and an awesome flyer, she was on the WVWR... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Thank you Bill, Byotch, Mary, Lori, Robin, Jack, Alana (I have not forgotten about our horny gorilla jump...), Michelle (I'll still eat cake...), Kreg, Betsy, Pat, Katie and Kris!! You guys rock. yeah, you missed part of the thread... and you missed my fire smell thread... where I did this to my 10D: (clicky for photo)... Ritz said they are sending me a new 10D... I'll post a big happy when it gets here. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

I guess I shouldn't tell you that I just picked one up for $799 and 15 month warranty...... ok, from what retailer? what does the warranty cover? most warranties will only cover manufacturers defects, not accidental damage. so, does it cover what the Ritz warranty covers? peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

that happened to one of our 120's, had a good warranty and the store swapped us a new camera because they knew they could fix it, so that was easy. Sony standard repairs are like $289 or something like that, no matter what the problem is... so worse case scenario, you could ship it off for 6 weeks. You could also try taking the camera apart and getting it out yourself. Cajones fixed Crystal's camera the other night like that, took about 3 hours and we bought the tiniest phillips screwdriver set from lowe's... Don't break the ribbons thoughs... good luck peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

i posted in white above that my new 10D should be here anyday. Ritz said they were sending me a new one... remember the fire smell thread... I'm SOOO excited but I didn't want to announce it until I actually had it in my hands because I still can't believe they are giving me a new one. It should be here any day now... The ESP rocks!!! you see what i'm sayin...? peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

i've jumped it with the hood, no problem. never tried filters. i need a new Sigma 15mm though, so if you know of anyone not needing one anymore... I lost mine in the fire, no warranty or anything on the lense. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Well, there you go. yup yup. Carle was not cheap. glad to help a brother out. Tim also told me it was going to be on tonight. I spoke with the producer of the show for an interview. I don't think they interviewed me in person cause I wasn't all freaked out by the accident, seeing as we knew the risk... I was just glad he didn't land on his head. I'm anxious to see his video. He said he's having trouble exporting though still... so he hasn't sent me a copy. Is that still the case Skyslut? if anyone finds which episde it's on, please tape it. there are some good shots on Tim's website also: http://www.frankenass.com/ peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

you're welcome. Did you go to a Ritz store or order online? I've always gone through the store so I could deal with someone in person. I'm not sure how RitzCamera.com handles things. I know that they are two seperate companies... so that if you order online, you cannot take your broken camera to a store, you have to ship it somewhere by yourself. Which is why I've always gone through the store. peace new 10d should be here anyday now... :) lew http://www.exitshot.com

i've actually had a very good run with my Dell Inspiron 4100 which I bought almost 4 years ago. I've never sent it in for anything. I'm just now starting to have touchpad and keyboard issues, but I've also beaten the crap out of it. I'm amazed it's still doing this well. It sounds like dell went downhill after these came out... I've also used Toshibas, including their tablet. They rock! The tablet is fun. After the novelty wears off, you don't really use the screen-writing capability very much. But it's ability to recognize handwriting is impressive. I'd love to have one of those... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

i'd pay $10 more for this... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Help? Someone who knows about group and individual health insurance...
lewmonst replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
HAH. You'd best not...LOL. Hugs to you and Ed! (And did his mom ever get to tandem??) Ciels- Michele Hey, yes! Ed's mom did do a tandem on Wednesday. I drove down after work on Tuesday and it was very gusty, so we opted to try again Wednesday. It was awesome. She rocked. On the ground she said she wasn't nervous and was happy she did it because she doesn't want to be afraid of what her son does. She also said she wanted to "make memories" with Ed, as that hasn't been possible until now. It was very, very cool. I'm glad I was there for it. I flew main camera, and Tigger flew 2nd camera. We gave the film to her to take home and develop. She said the photos turned out great and will send us copies. I'll scan them when we get them. I hijacked my own thread, sorry. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com -

Help? Someone who knows about group and individual health insurance...
lewmonst replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
yes. private. I'm just considering moving closer to Elsinore. ok, to Elsinore. I haven't decided yet. I am also not sure if I will look for another full-time teaching position right away.. I might consider part-time or substituting... in which case, I'd probably have to get my own health coverage. I will be covered for sure through August, so there shouldn't be a gap in coverage. Removal of the rod will likely be in October or November. Thanks for everyone tips, peace lew http://www.exitshot.com -
peace lew ? Whoops, wrong link. Here is the link for the ESP for digital camera between $800 and $899... The ESP pays off... trust me. I purchased mine from the store (technically a different retailer than ritz online. But it has paid off. bold by me... I told the salesman what I was doing with it, even showed him my flat top narrow and explained everything. He said, if it hits the ground, just bring the pieces back in a bag... I highly recommend the esp. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Help? Someone who knows about group and individual health insurance...
lewmonst replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
Situation: As some of you know, I broke my femur last year and got a titanium rod put in. The Doc says I should have it taken out this fall. I'm considering leaving the school I teach at now to move. I am concerned that if I lose my health insurance for leaving my job, I may not be able to get coverage for the follow-up surgery to remove the rod. Can I get individual health insurance that will cover a pre-existing condition like this? Would group coverage do it? Will individual insurance policy ask me about all this? fyi, I had the accident and surgery before I came to this school, so the group insurance just assumed me and my condition. The only coverage I've needed since then is doctors visits... So, if you're familiar with all this, please let me know how it works and what I can expect. Thanks! lew http://www.exitshot.com -
get it from Ritz and GET THE ESP!!!!! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

I am helping my brother get his business online. I'm curious what search engines people use most as I might sponsor his site to get listed at the top of certain ones. (This is mainly directed to the U.S. as that's all his company will supply...) So what search engines do you use? Do you go to the sponsored links? Or do you ignore the links that obviously paid to get listed at the top? If you use something I haven't listed please post it. And of course, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks! lew http://www.exitshot.com

Nice camera helmet, turtle. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Hey Mel, I tried that. I explained that I mostly use my stuff for recreation and only occasionally do a tandem video or coach jump. They said that if I use it at all to make money, renters won't cover it and I'd need a business policy. No matter how little money I make with it... They said if I tried to cover it under renters, and something happened, and the insurance inspector found out I had used it to make money, than I wouldn't get a dime. I'll try Allstate... but with as much as Ed and I do work jumps, we need to find a business policy that will cover it... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
-
Yeah... after the fire, I got renters insurance. After sorting out the details, I had to ask for a seperate business policy to cover my cameras and skydiving gear. And when the real agent in charge finally found out it was used for skydiving, he said he couldn't even sell me a business policy on any of my stuff as State Farm will not cover anything for any business with skydiving... So, i'm still looking for coverage for my skydiving gear. If we were to suffer another such devastating loss like that fire, I don't know if I could keep jumping. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Should parents be allowed to pierce their babies' ears?
lewmonst replied to lewmonst's topic in Speakers Corner
Am I the only one bothered by seeing an infant with pierced ears? I know there are a variety of reasons some people use to justify it (i.e. culture, tradition, identify as a girl, cute... etc...). But I just don't think a mother or father should do anything permanent to an infant. I think the child should be allowed to make their own choice whether or not to put holes in their body. just my opinion. lew http://www.exitshot.com
