  1. B&H does still rock, and they do sell ESP's for equipment. No, no actually, they don't. They have a Mack warranty which is as follows: bold by me, to emphasize the difference between the Mack warranty and Ritz's ESP. I have yet to find any other retailer with a warranty as good as Ritz's ESP. B&H is still a great retailer, and I still buy lots from them as they usually have a fair price and a good reputation. But for the warranty, Go Ritz. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  2. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I got my new 10D, replaced at no cost from Ritz Camera because I had the ESP. If you saw this thread, you know the story... I just have to plug Ritz here, having the $200/yr warranty on a $1500 camera has paid off. I am not afraid to brake my cameras! Or destroy them completely. Jonathan from Ritz said they are using my old 10D as a advertisement for their ESP program. Honesty paid off. Karma is good. I also bought a new Sigma 15mm from Ritz with the ESP, a few more $$ than any online retailer, but the warranty is worth it. I had bought it from b&h last time, no warranty. BUY FROM RITZ WITH THE ESP! GO BUST YOUR CAMERA! THEY ROCK! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  3. katana 120 @ 1.6 http://www.exitshot.com
  4. I don't have any issues with it. The only difference from the PC120 was the location of the LANC port. On the 120 it was on the front. On the 330, it's in the back on the right side. So i just had to drill more holes in my dbox. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  5. Thanks for showing pics Paige! Hey Richmond, I miss you guys!!!! btw, who got pied? I can't make out a face from those photos? peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

  7. And they're hot too! Check out the photos! I cannot thank them enough for their kindness, generosity and support! (ps, ed can now fall 80mph-hee hee) peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  8. duece you need to modify your avatar so the camera is facing backwards http://www.exitshot.com
  9. I have an easy method: my hair. It's in a pony tail with several rubberbands down it, 80's style, to keep from tangling. And I just twist my slider and stowe it under my pony tail. then I pull the gromets all the way down into the V of my risers, and pull the material in the corners through the back so any little flapping material is behind me. it works quite well, but I guess that doesn't help most of you boys. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  10. I haven't taken any frame grabs yet, but I will next chance I get and see what the quality is... It has great video quality, I love the camera. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  11. To clarify further... Yes, I did contollability check up high. No problem. I hung in brakes waiting for other traffic to land, then when I went to full flight, and approached on my front riser, it was only then that the problem occured which of course I had no way of noticing until i went into my flare. Had the problem occured up high, it could have been easily cleared before final. It occured on final and not before. Some people are also confusing what I mean by excess brake line... Since this is a new canopy, I had only set my lower control lines to a length temporarily, leaving excess line incase i decided to lengthen them... That excess line, (after the toggle attachment) is lose. So to temporarily store it, it is fingertrapped back into the steering line that has tension on it (in full flight). That excess line came out of the fingertrap, but was not noticeable and did not cause a problem until the flare. (again, yes, I'd already flared up high, no problem) The toggle assembly is the same as yours I believe phree, but is not the issue. And as I said in my first post, I replaced it with permanent settings that are tacked. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  12. Regular tandem video. Open around 3k. All is well, I hang out in brakes up high waiting for a few others below to set the pattern (slight downwind according to the first one down, although the winds vary tremendously in elsinore mid a hot day). Bleed off some altitude and 90 into final, about 6 feet above ground I start my flare and my left steering toggle would not pull down. A quick glance before I thud into the dirt shows a tension knot with the excess brake line in the keeper ring. Luckily, somehow, i manage to hit my right hip and thigh and slide in pretty hard, but only with a few scrapes to show for it. I am honestly surprised I am not hurt. I had no flare and was coming in with decent speed, then dove a little right just as i flared and the left one got stuck, I went a little further with the right and then just tried to slide and protect myself. Witnesses also thought I was lucky to not be hurt. The excess brake line which I had fingertrapped had somehow made it's way out. There was no sign of a problem until I flared on landing. And I had already released and flown some with the brakes up high. It just happen to work into a tension knot on final. Scary. Thankfully Brian replaced and tacked my lower control lines immidiately. Next jump I landed just fine through a dust-devil... just a head's up, if you have excess steering line in a fingertrap, watch out for it. And if you are happy with the brake settings, tack em. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

  14. Mandy!?! You're alive! Glad you'll be out. Unfortunately I'll be in Ohio that thursday for a wedding so I'll miss you. we won't be in LA much longer, first week of june and it's to the desert for good. We still want to grab dinner or drinks with you and christiaan, so call us sometime when you're not swamped with stardom. And hey if you have time next week, maybe we can hook up and i can take your rig down there to get repacked for you. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

  16. that's what Ritz's ESP is for... They are using my returned 10D as a sales pitch for their ESP program. My new 10D will be here tomorrow or friday via FedEx. My lense will be in too. I didn't have an ESP on that though as I'd bought it from B&H. But this time I got it from Ritz with the ESP. I'll be shooting digital again this weekend, finally after this 4 month saga... (or 8 months total since I was on the ground 4 months before that...) hoooraaaaaaayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace lew Ritz Rules! http://www.exitshot.com
  17. Nice!!! Some of those opening shots are sweet. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  18. Deucey, I've had some scheduling conflicts also... I might do something with Jay that's not on the schedule around the 2nd week of June when I'm done with teaching. Let me know if you're interested. (At Elsinore most likely) peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  19. Donlt think so hard. start skydiving. you'll soon find you won't want to run on a sunny saturday... i've got one injury in 1000+ jumps and 5+ years... Although I was injured and out for a while 3 times playing volleyball and twice skiing... in about the same time frame. everything is a risk. skydiving is worth it or we all wouldn't be here. just be smart with it as you learn. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  20. This is a very very sad day in our community. I am at a loss for words. My thoughts are with all of Paul's family and friends right now. Fly free Paul... Blue skies. http://www.exitshot.com

  22. Unfortunately those are not from a 10D... they are 35mm and scanned. I'm still waiting for the arrival... And it really was a very special jump to all of us. Michelle, thank you. When are we going to Bucca? here's one more good photo from that jump... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  23. I guess the owner of the ass-in-question decided he'd rather not touch said AIQ. Maybe Lewmonst can shed some light.... so to speak. OMG. ...no, no, no, we keep the lights off. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  24. It was definately one of the best days because we could bring Ed's mom into the sky with us to really see what makes us happy. She did great. She was a little worried her dentures would fall out, but they didn't. She wasn't very nervous at all. She was so happy when she landed. After not being able to really know Ed for a long time, this was the first of many good "memories" to come. Knowing Ed does this for a living, she said she just "didn't want to be afraid" of what her son does. It was very cool. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  25. was that linear editing? At my old dz, when a jumper had broken his back, he was doing iMovie (non-linear) edits for $10 each. Prior to that, different videographers used their own editting equipment and the videos varied a lot. now at a larger dz, the linear edit is definately the way to go for the sake of time. we don't have an editor and edit our own, often to pack and do the intro to the next tandem vid all on a 20 minute call. I would definately pay someone $5 an edit if I could do more jumps that way (i.e. back to back loads) peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
