  1. QuoteOn Highway 99, just south of Madera, is a landmark in the center divider. It apparently divides NoCal from SoCal. A few feet south of the Pine tree (NoCal) is a Palm Tree. And SoCal peeps wouldn't mind dividing the state. We already get NoCal's water. We could make the SoCal Capitol in a convenient spot, like El Centro (well, more convenient that Sac Town). Please let's divide the state. Then we can charge socal for the water and if you don't want to pay for it, then mono lake will be what it used to be. Yeah, norcal profits either way. 4. On one of my helemts I tapped a med size zip tie to the inside of the helemt and put a hole in the neoprene front that covers your fore head. Tape the cam eye to it. Its not a snap point because the plastic zip tie won't hang on any thing. It can eve work as a sight. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  5. And don't underestimate yourselves. just because its difficult for one team might be a snap for your team. And that's where a good coach comes in. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  6. My recommendation is more time on the randoms. Between every point is a radom move. Whether bolck to block or block to random its a on grip off grip stituation. You are able to make up more time there. My coach joey jones taught us this and it makes a difference. You'll have time to practivce the blocks. while traiing on Blaze (from Nor Cal 2000-2001) we did traing jumps all randoms, then later trained b2 blocks swapping the exits. Each traing jump was reapeated with a different exit from the dive flow. Worked good. Depending on budget for you guys, a good coach and tunnel time will vastly improve your flying skills. The sooner you get one or each the more skills and knowledge you'll have for the season. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  7. But I'm sure Canon didn't test it for skydiving related purposes. I dunno, vibration, moisture, ???? But to hear the same thing is not good. When I was asked at the dz if I had an eroor 99 before I said no. But too hear of another could mean a possible glitch. We just need to hear if they both have more problems and what they are or if others have the same problem. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  8. I buddy of mine from nor cal tried that lens and had the same problem. Tha's not a good sign. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  9. I did a test with the sigma 14mm renticular, and the 15 mm fish eye. The 14 is a better wide angle lens with less distortion. But the icreased cost and weight only lends it to super highquality shots not everyday use. I know a guy who bought it and I think it's over kill. Getting started in shooting or your going to shoot digital all day long. Get the 15mm fe from sigma. Good quality good price. You start making it on the cover of Parachutist or sports illustrated, then get the 14. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  10. I was a photographer before I was a jumper and the same reason applies. When I'm old and can not do things I used to I can relive those moments like I was there. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  11. So why the poll concernining this part of tracking? I'm really interested not trying to be a smart ass. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  12. Here is a hot computer. under your budget assuming you have your own copy of Premiere. http://www.alienware.com/Configurator_Pages/area-51.aspx?SysCode=PC-AREA51&SubCode=SKU-PERFORMANCE www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  13. How much computer modding experience do you have? Are you more intune in buying a computer, dell or other and install the software or do you think you could buy all the parts, motherboard, processor, ram, case, and put it together your self. I put together a 2.6 p4 with a lot of perks for about $1200. Tons of hardrive space and dvd burner. Its a good money saver if you have a weekend if you know your stuff, or a week to learn and do it. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  14. Everyone is going to have their favorite codec. I was a quicktime guy in the beginning, but find that the wmv is a liitle easier for everyone to see. And my production. Also, sounds like you have a pretty fast computer but your hardrive could be the data bottleneck. 7200rpm ide hardrives helped open the market for everyone to edit at home. That could causeing the dropped frames or anti ailsing. Sorry forgot to ask about your video card too. That would be the last consideration. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  15. Andyman, So you want good quality videos for laptop playback. Sounds like you computer is having a hard time playing back the dv compressed files. So to trouble shoot it first, send the specs of your laptop: os, processor, ram, and if you know the hardrive speed, 5400 or 7200. I have a 2.6 P4 with 2 gigs of ram and mine play back fine. To get video files to the web I export the avi files under the normal dv codec and then pump them thru media cleaner pro. This is the best program on the market for compressing to web, mpeg and the such. The microsoft wmv format is real nice. This is what I've been using on my site. http://www.petergallistudios.com. I then use these files for viewing on my computer. they look good even at full screen. Now you should be able to export your files thru premiere in the wmv format. I would say give it a try. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  16. Quade, you bring up a good contrast for video flyers. At the 2001 Nats at Perris, I was video for 4way team Blaze. First nats for me. I went and checked out all the planes first thing sat morning. I was familar with a few planes having jumped them before. Some had otter handles 2 or 3 others had pegs. I climbed up on all but one. I looked at it and said its just a peg. And walked away. Well the plane rotation put me in that plane in the middle of the day. I climbed out got into postion and nearly fell off as the handle was farther forward than the rest of the planes putting my weight forward instead of leaning back I held on got a good exit shot and didn't f**k up. Lucky me. What did I learn. Climb up on all the planes no matter how similar they look. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  17. I don't think the air has much to do with it. It might mean you were getting more comfortable flying the longer your were in the skydive. I think being in a sit at the bottom end of the skydive is a good idea. You have a better visual of the horizon than you would in a head down, giving you better altitude awarness. I would recommend this. When you are head down and looking at the person who is jumping with you who might be above you(altitude wise), you lose the visual of the ground because all you will see is blue sky. keep it safe altitude is your friend. My two bits. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  18. www.bhphotovideo.com I've bought a lot of equipment from them. They should be helpful but they are New Yorkers so they are straight shooters and may be short with you, but should be helpful. ust make sure you do your home work on what you want. The site is quit informative and shipping with them is pretty fast. Probably the largest video store around. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  19. I'm using Ulead DVD workshop and like it for the basics. Nothing fanciny in it but I've done some menus that look pretty good. It simple to use and insert chapters as well. Once you convert the avi's to mpeg the first 30min dvd copy takes 20 mins then each copy after it takes about 5mins. Real nice. I have a pretty fast computer, so I think that speeds the conversion process up. I would recommend this software for fisrt time users. I'm getting Adobe Encore a more robust dvd authoring program. I'll let everyone know how it is once it arrives. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  20. I'm heading the to dz where I'm on the video pool there. I'll take a picture of our setup. 2 stations. pretty inexpensive. you don't need too many things either. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  21. Also, the L-port or Lanc is an accessory port which is set to certain standards. Not sony standards. I think it should work fine. I could be wrong here. Have you tried a newer cameye? Is the cable crimped anywhere? does it still work on your old camera? www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  22. quite massive too. What about canon 1ds 11mega pixels and a better frame rate than kodak. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
  23. If you want to output from your computer there is a real easy and inexpensive way to do it without the pricer editing boards. I only know it works in Primere, but assume it works in Final cut and other programs. The only other assumption is if your camera allows firewire inout/out put thru to composite video. I'm using a Sony TRV27 and PDx10 which works fine. This is what you do: Leave your camera connected to the computer thru firewire and on. connect the rca or svhs cables to a vcr or monitor. Playback on the timeline is then run thru the camera to the screen. The video on the computer is choppy with no audio, but plays smooth on the monitor with sound. That's it. I do this at the final stages of my editing to proof the video and see if everything looks fine. Simply turn off the camera to edit on the computer if you want or just leave as is and edit to the tv monitor on your desktop. Stubbs never replied to me but I think this is what he was asking. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
