  1. The best way to survive a mid air collision is to avoid having a collision at all. Flying a canopy that is faster than your thought processes is good way to get into a mid air collision. I don't seem to hear about Tandems being in mid air canopy collisions. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  2. Everyone wants to talk about downsizing, rarely, if ever, is upsizing mentioned. So here is a start. I have upsized! I once stated here that in order to think about jumping a PD velocity you should have at least 1000 jumps, have done some canopy control training and do at least 300 jumps a year. Well I am no longer getting the 300 jumps a year in so I have decided to stop jumping my velocity and upsize to a more docile canopy. Guess what? I am really happy with my decision. Although sometimes I miss my old Velo, skydiving is still great fun. For Sale Velocity 90 ca 1800 jumps - $350 Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  3. Videot needs to get there quicker. While I do prefer to have the handle check on video, I don't wait to have a videot in front of me to perform one. err I don't understand that one. As a vidiot I am never "away" from the tandem. If you don't see a handle check on my tandem video it's because the wasn't one. If the TM has to wait until the vidiot is there, fire the vidiot. As for editing out handle checks with handcam videos, I have heard/read somewhere that a TM does that. Edit: as an after thought, it could be that the video is behind you just after exit and is starting the fly around you for the shot. But you can still see a handle check. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  4. I can't believe this thread. No one has any reason to jump a removable slider with only 300 jumps. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  5. This has been posted in the German section of DZ.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZZPgKFF1BA Does anyone here see handle checks being made? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  6. Why not just photoshop it? There are enough people on these boards that are more than able to do this. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  7. My velocity 90 has 2000+ jumps on it and my rigger seems to think I should retire it soon. It flys just great, flares well. I guess I won't be buying a 5th line set for it though. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  8. But thats what BP stands for. Quote Not since 2001. In 2001 the company formally renamed itself as BP plc[33] and adopted the tagline "Beyond Petroleum," which remains in use today. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  9. Landing with the wind broke my back But it doesn't always end that way. Maybe 11 kts was too much, I dunno. But now my preference is into the wind or at least crosswind. Just saying. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  10. I have always two alitmeters, my neptune and my eyes. Seems to work for me
  11. Well I guess you know the answer to your question now Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  12. My ProTrack is now over 7 years old and the battery cover has developed a crack where the screws go. I mailed L & B about the problem and they sent me totally free of charge a new cover, screws, springs and a set of batteries. I contacted them Sunday evening and the stuff arrived this wednesday morning.
  13. Does that mean I have to update the web page? and I guess I will have to update this one as well. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  14. I have watched loose change, looked at the 911 truth sites and still have never seen a reason for doing two very difficult tasks .... a) Secretly wire three building with explosives to demolish them b) Fly two aircraft into two buildings .. when only one would acheive the same objectives. It just makes no sense. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  15. Rhys... If they demolished the building with explosives (whoever "they" are), why did they bother to fly planes into the building? They could have just blown up the building and said it was a terrorist bomb. Easy! Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  16. Please see attached pic! Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  17. I'm all for cap & trade. It might make skydivers actually pay for the fuel they waste for mere entertainment. $100 a jump anyone? Why not, when you really think about what that energy is worth in terms of human labour. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  18. Excellent guesstimate, it is actually 6.84 kWp
  19. and here is my low carbon emmission power plant - in Germany. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  20. Maybe this article will explain why going nuclear is not an option. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  21. Well let's just say we did not get high enough to put cypres into jump mode. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  22. Hey don't forget, it's "Global" and not about local weather in the U.S. ! Europe is also having a local weather problem, it's damn cold here too! Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  23. What! I am still trying to figure out where Scott and his wing suit is in the picture. I can't seem to find him. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  24. Indeed, you are correct. I just checked the April numbers. Must be all those prius's that people are driving these days. Edited to add: However, looking at this weeks numbers you imported more that you exported. http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/weekly_petroleum_status_report/current/txt/wpsr.txt It seems to select just one month or week as an example is not useful.
