Suppose you're right. The ones at the other side don't even know what an English flag loos like. Just don't hang it upside down

It looks like this....... Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Who pulled? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Hey, he said a British flag, not a french one Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Sorry, I am not helping the scots or the bloody welsh one bit. Now if you want to put up the English flag, I might be able to help. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

My first jump was also alone. A lot of people have not got the guts "that we obviously have" to do the first one alone Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I have a real fear of clouds The last one cost me 268 Euros Never again Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

That's a lot of broken bones The doctors must decide. I know that most doctors don't have much of a clue what sort of strain a good skydive has on the body, they mostly see the broken ones from a bad skydive. Even so, you get a good idea of what's possible by asking other questions, like should I avoid roller coasters, or can I jump of a 4ft high table. Always the hard opening problem crops up, but that can hurt any body. Getting fit is the main factor. Muscle wastes quickly but takes a lot of work to get back. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Ahhh.. O.K. , I understand.

Seriously, I have no idea how this can help apart from giving you a rough estimate +/- 20 kts of the wind speed. That is assuming you can estimate it 100% accurately from looking at the ground track, which I doubt. Or do you have another eye of the airspeed and climb rate? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

In my opinion the official line on spotting can be found here http://www.iit.edu/~ugcol/separation.zip Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

freefall is overrated It's all about flying the canopy.
-
Video is a great tool to see what is going wrong and what is going right. Get on a canopy control course as soon as you can. It will help a lot. Ask your instructors about such a course. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

@ all It seems that in the end it was only an issue with one TM. It wasn't that he thought it was a major problem, it more as you guys said, "why make it harder than it needs to be?" so no changes will be made to the suits. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
Assuming it's a canopy you want to land, freefall speed is a bit over the top. Maybe the top swoopers are getting up to 85 mph vertical fall rates, but its not the norm. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
I have had it the other way around. Once I landed on the DZ but the tandem I was filming didn't make it back. and no, he didn't have a reserve! Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
My view as a vidiot and not a TM. The saftey of the passenger is paramount. If I am going to land off, the last thing I expect is the TM will also land off. Despite this, they have done this. For me as a vidiot, it is not neccessary. I have enough landing shots from a distance where you cannot see who has landed. I have mixed videos where the canopy has changed color three times and passenger was still so pleased with the result they have sent me presents in the post. The videos guys do their job and the TM's do theirs. Passenger safety is the NO 1 PRIORITY. nuff said. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

WRONG, skin is slower than tight nylon Actually I am a Vidiot, so tandems going nude will just give me something different film That's why I am asking you guys for the heads up, I am not a TM. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Syria would be a nice dessert! Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Seems as though it's not terrorist related. But hell, it could be the trigger for Bush to go after Iran. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

We have recently purchased new overalls (suits) for our tandem passengers. They look very pretty with bright colors and all that stuff. They are not a lot different to freefly suits with lots of free material around the arms and legs. What do the experienced tandem masters out there think about this. Would you object to jumping with a passenger with lots of loose material around the arms and legs? Or do you prefer the passengers to clothed with tighter fitting suits. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Senator Responds to CNN Hit Piece On Global Warming
speedy replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
And not the same as saying NONE of the change comes from human activities. It doesn't rule it out. If it is not known then is could be insignificant. Note that they are referring to all human activities and not just CO2 emissions. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -

From the NRC web page... "....But it is not known how much of the temperature rise to date is the result of human activities, the report says. Climate models do not adequately represent all the processes that contribute to variability of the climate system." Interesting. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -

OK, maybe if you could provide a link to what I should read it would be helpful. I tried to search the NRC's web site but could only find one report from 2006 to do with climate change. That report seemed to be more concerned with looking at tree rings and making wild guesses about what the climate looked like over the last 2000 years. As I said, I don't wish to debate whether climate change is occuring. I just want to understand the mechanism in which CO2 can cause the global temperature to rise significantly. Billvon has got me thinking. You are just blurring the debate. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -

I am no expert on CO2. I just question the statements you clever types put out. I do know that pumping CO2 into my aquarium seems to do it a world of good though. P.S who sponsors the NRC? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
