I heard about that!!! hahahaha! Bloody oath! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

that may be true when you put the words 'in australia' in the sentence and you obviously oppsoe the rule. but it is the australian record, it is the rules and they made it. Once again I ask you, if an Australian does the fastest 100m sprint at the Olympic games that any Australian has ever done, in say... Athens, then would that not be the Australian record? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

That is your priority, but don't try to take away from those that made the effort to do so. The vast majority were Australians and it is obviously within the rules and is a bonafide Australian record but it seems you are more content telling them all that it is not. My wife is a kiwi, but she is also an Australian resident, Australian company owner... she was on it but would have been marked down as a non Australian. Bill is not, neither is Kate or Tony or a handful of others but it is in the rules that they were allowed to be. how about you step up to the plate then! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

so you are saying the infrastructure of a country determines the skill? or If an Australian competes at the olympic games in another country, and breaks a world record, that would not be an Australian record also? Is it not the nationality of the person/people, not where the performance takes place. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

The minimum is 75% as far as I know, that is a vast majority. A few kiwis were involved too so that allows countrymen/women from smaller countries to participate in such activities also. What seems more odd to me is the record is held in a different country, but in saying that, there are not too many twin otters in Aussie, there's a sky van and a few caravans and XL's but not really enough to do a 100way. But hey, they got the record, it will be bonafide and they had fun doing it. The skills these people learned will be taken back to their home country and shared among the skydiving community. So at the end of the day, skydiving wins! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Weight is weight, once it is clipped on you are still carrying it, but you don't have to have it on until you load the plane. With this design it is not in a belt that wrps around you body so no bulk between you and your rig. My ass/coxox is what I am most worried about, in distance rounds (my favorite). If you end up out of the sandpit and milk every cm out of it you can land quite hard on your ass, That is why I will develop the tail bone protector that has the icorporated RDS pouch and leg strap protectors... I have a paraNZ operators certifecate but we changed to the NZSA due to the shenanegans that was going on, we have not heard anything from ParaNZ but mybe they have given up on us? I wouldn't worry about the school being grounded, they have the choice of 3 part 149's to choose from, and our NZSA changover took less than 4 days! Are you trying to say you had a better than 45 degree track when you had 10 jumps? Or 50 over 13 years! 25000 posts and 50 jumps over 13 years! you can see where the priorities lie with this guy... and he has the audacity to mock the europeans that have incredible skill for being half assed. Too true, I also failed to mention that if you are from the UK or Australia you can also get student loans to do it, and I beleive (don't quote me) that Austalians get a subsidy from thier government as do New Zealanders. the NZ government paid for half of my course which equated to NZ$7k at the time, the other half I had to pay back later. so how much did you pay for your; AFF A License B Licence gear rental and first 200 jumps? How long did it take you and were you employable shortly afterwards as a commercial skydiver at a DZ where you could progress on to make a good living? expensive is in the eye of the beholder. If you are a half empty type with no desire to excell, then yes it will be an expensive experience, but if you have desire, aptitude, common sense and a hint of professionalism, it is expensive not to, as a skydiver. sure is Are you talking about the 95kgs of total weight or the 9.5 of wight belt? On a serious note, I have just lashed it on with webbing and although it is very secure it does not look the tidiest, I will make purpose built webbing attachments when I decide to start training again. I will use neoprene buffers to protect the edge of the webbing but I am not too worried about this setup at it does not move at all, it is quite rigid. The buckles have adjusters on them that pull tight securely enough and I go ahead and feed the webbing back thorugh the buckle and tie it off. The webbing attachment looks rough to me, but it allowed me to use the belts without worry. I spent untold hours working this thing out but it is exactly what I wanted. attaching it with webbing is the easy part, I just cant be arsed at the moment. too much other stuff to do. Jessica Watson just pulled into Sydney harbour a few weeks ago after circumnavigating the globe solo, she is 16 years old! I was jumping in Wollongong on that day and the seas were very rough indeed, I would have thought Cape Horn would have the roughest waters? If you plan on sailing around the world you would have to plan for the worst case scenario. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

You had better update your profile if so, because it seems to me you have not jumped in a long time but spent you entire life pushing your opinion in this website. I suppose you can Track feet first also? or freefall relatve with the aircraft? I can track a'ight, at my last big way camp I learned lot and improved significantly, but when we fly atmo we don't intend on being flat and stiff, Atmo and tracking are two different 'fall' games. You seem to have a strong opinion on the subject for someone with 50 jumps, or is it that you are stalking me? I know what your thoughts are on me but that is based on politics and does not belong in this forum. Is climbing everest stupid? Going into space? Jessica Watson just pulled it off, and grown adults have been lost at sea too. Half empty attitudes never accomplish much. Not taking a stab at you, but plenty of people told Jessica she couldn't do it, but she did. Plenty of people told my wife she couldn't do tandems, but she did, and did better than many. I sure hope this young sailor is OK but if not that is no reason to say it is a stupid thing to do. shit happens! Why jump out of a plane? Is that stupid? No Atmo and tracking are two separate things, but 'many' Americans refuse to acknowledge that. We track away from Atmo jumps too like any jump. That was never my point, you were just putting words in my mouth. At least Sangi actually still skydives which is more than can be said for more than one outspoken 'ex' meatbomb here. He is passionate about participating in the sport, not talking about it. Ones current jump numbers have nothing to do with their skills, aspirations and aptitude. I know of people with more than 6 times less jumps than me that can fly circles around me, it comes down to what you focus your energy on. seeing you can give it can you take it? Hows your tracking going these days anyway? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Swoop specific weight belt reccomendations
rhys replied to rhys's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
well the 3 ring system didn't work as the hip rings were too low for me to use the system as a belly cradle as well. To avoid reposting I have made; A link to the thread I posted the pictures in, scroll down to post 15 to view the photos of my creation. A couple of people have PM'ed me to post photos so Ihave attached a few to show you what I have made. I am creating a rigging shop and may make these for sale in the future but not for now, I have been concentrating on developing my handicam gloves and now I'm building stock. I had various reasons for building this belt; * nothing between me and my rig * fast release for unintentional water landings * incorporated belly cradle * light weight for travel (just fill with shot at your destination) * to hone my rigging/sewing skills (still a little rusty) Unfortunately I have only used it a couple of times as I have been busy starting a new DZ, but we will hold swoop comps once the pond goes in in the future so plenty of time... My next project is a unit that incorporates all inclusive; *RDS pouch *tailbone/coxix protector *leg strap protector/cover The function is quite obvious and I will be able to install and remove the unit quickly for different jumps in different disciplines. I have the design in my head and on paper it is just a matter of finding time to make one and make it work.

A little off topic but kinda relevant, I have noticed that Americans are not receptive to the idea of the discipline called 'Atmonauti', americans seem to simply consider it tracking. By that rationale the Euros shit all over americans at tracking bcause thay can perform vertical type formations at head level on the angle, where americans are still content flying a delta formation in a stiff track. I was on a tracking jump last year organised by a well know freeflyier (who I won't name), he insisted thet flying in a delta formation single layered was the best idea, some of us had been 'running the angle' for a few jumps previos and we felt like we were taking leaps backwards flying this type of formation. Head level multi layered 'Atmo' jumos take much more skill and anre much more fun that some stiff old school gig. these are just my thoughts however, but the Euros are all over it. head level is much more fun!
