Indeed, a wake up call to what really happens out there. Rest up bro you'll be in the air before you know it.

This reminds me of an in incidence where a fellow was drunk and breaking windows with a golf club. so the police shot him to death beacase he was a threat to them. so much for training and intellegence, shoot first ask questions later. I wouldn't be suprised if there was never a shot fired from the house first either. when i was watching OPERATION FREEDOM FARTY PANTS or what ever the GW administration called it. LIVE on television the camera was pointed at a small fortified(by a mud brick wall) town in Iraq and nothing was happening. the camera was turned 90degrees to the left and showed only dessert. 2 minutes later there were sounds of explosions and gunfire. 10 mins later the camera turned 90degrees back to the right and there was fuck all left of the village but craters and smokestacks. the commentary said that a shot was fired from the village and the assult was in defense. Funny how the camera was turned before and gun shots were heard. How stupid do the U.S. military think people are? maybe the U.S. have bread ignorance into thier socioty but not all of the world is like that. Now i'm not saying there wasn't a 'Baddy' in that house but surley if they apprehended the person they wanted alive, then it was unessecary to kill those children especially. The story for the defese is weak, predictable and does not add up. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

When the votes are close then coalitions are made with the minority partys and give them the power to make change. so instead of having to compete with the big guys, as a smaller party, smaller partys can concentrate on the other smaller sometimes extremist partys and make themselves more popular than them. When the votes are counted a coalition is made with the strongest minority party to keep the Large party in power(if they can see eye to eye that is) then that smaller partys members become part of the working govornment and get to make the positive changes they have in thier policies! so essentially the strongest of the smaller parties gets to decide what the next govornment will be in a close election. FFP govornments get away with more dodgy shit because nobody with a conflict of interest is present at such decisions. MMP sheds light onto the dodgy goings on and therefore creates a fairer govornment. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I think it stands for mixed member proportion. but it means when an election is counted each party gets the seats they won and the govornment is formed by more than one political party. yes the caucus gets roudy but at least poor/selfish decisions aren't made without scrutiny. for instance if an election was 45%rep-55%dem then those proportions would make up the govornment. It's fair. We voted it in here in New Zealand a number of years ago and it seems to work, it is most definately not perfect but name a system that is? it allows smaller parties to emerge and have a 'chance' at making positive change to what they feel is nessecary. FFP (first past the post) elections are unfair and do not reflect what the 'whole' population wants. especially when the election is close(which it usually is)! republicans and democrats are both to the right of neutral! both capitalist fuckwits too. i can't believe a country of so much population and power only has the choice of two major partys, you need a referendum to pass a MMP system to balance the odds a little, with minority groups as well as those redneck oil tycoons. is it gonna happen? water expands when cooled/frozen therefore more displacement not only from the ice but all the h20 that is at a cooler temerature. if a water bottle expands to the point of explosion when frozen imagine a whole ocean? I was under the impression that more ice = more/higher ocean? The colums of rock that make up southern thailand were formed during the last 'ice age' when the ocean levels were many metres higher? or so i was told. if the percentage in the first study was changed from 15% to be considered ice cover to say 70% then maybe the information gathered would be more correct. but the stats on the %15 percent study definately show a dissapating ice shelf rather than an increasing one. aim at the centre of the lineset, at a distance that keeps the whole canopy and pilot in frame (when they are at thier closest)but not too far away. for real good results use a tripod. sun behind you etc. etc. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Riggers have to come from somewhere! there are plenty of people that have only packed a few reserves and all of those thaht have packed 100's or 1000's had only packed a few at some point in time too. therefore it is important that manufacturers LISTEN to the consumer. and ANY problems that arise should have realistic answers or solutions. I am shocked at the video. I jump a vector 3! i have only had 1 chop and that was on a 'dodgy' old racer, I couldn't see this problem ever happening on the racer though. not that i want another one either. good words, It is funny how groms learn much faster. I have noticed that in skateboarding too. when i started there was no such thing as a 360flip, when it was invented it was only for the elite. now every 11 year old kid can do them and i still cant get my head/gonads around them. i'm new to skydiving but that same sort of thing is happening here. I have noticed old school saussie suit, moustash and fraphatters mock freeflying because they cannot do it. they say its all about turning points, now cats are turning points on their heads and the old schoolers are left behind. I see many people downsizing IMO too early, is that just too early beacause i didn't do it then? in some countries you cannot jump elliptical untill 500 jumps! is that safety or is that holding back? it is a hard thing to regulate. bwwwaaah, i'm confused now "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
SC is a good source of information sometimes and good for a laugh others, I used to get worked up at first but now i just read for information and sometimes have a stab to get a reaction. i soon realised the speakers corner is not a representation of world opinion, as i initially thought. it is the same group of (mostly american) nerds with nothing better to do but sit on the computer all night everyone has an opinion, and everyone is entitled to one. everyone is different. this needs to be respected. Here in new zealand cops are generally good naturd people. however as in all aspects of life there are corrupt individuals that ruin it for the rest. but having said that the further up the chain you go the more corrupt it seems to get. i can see how joe bloggs who wants to join the force so he can help society can be corrupted with power! people are corrupted by power. once they get to use it they like it and use it even more. if they have no reason, then thay make a reason. this is just my opinion. from observation. I have been harassed by a DRUNK cop for no reason who was driving and not wearing his number. I made an appointment to meet with the senior sergant to make an official complaint. befor i could say anything he told me because i am dutch(by name and blood only, i have never set foot in europe!) i am arrogant and ignorant and blah blah blah. i leaned over his desk gave him an earfull of curses and saliva and stormed out feeling lost. i was going to comlain to the police complaints authority but decided it is too small a town to have fuckwits like that against you. i still respect most police, without them it would be chaos, it just sucks how power corrupts (not unlike dropzone owners, soldiers, businessmen etc.) "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Does this site look ground-launchable to you? *PICS*

Now I have to be careful what i say because i have not had Formal/regulated training. but i do have over 100 flights now. This slope looks perfect to me for you to start playing with G/L. I started on a simimar yet a bit steeper and longer more consistant in angle slope. at paragliding training hill! practice kiting your canopy first (on the flat)once you are kiting, keep your body under the centre of the canopy use rear riser input AND step sideways to keep you canopy flying above your head. practice keeping the canopy above your head play with your risers, play with stall points on your rears to see how far they will go. and when you have that sussed kite it NEAR the top of the hill not on top because there is a rotor there!?!? you will need a nice wee breese on your nose. otherwise don't bother. you may need to use toggles to get it kiting but once it's there only use your rears. you can do it facing forwards or face the rear get it up and twist (or should i say, untwist) to face the wind. when all that seems a bit too easy and you can collapse it all and get it there again straight away then keep it kiting. have your hands on your rears and run!!! you will feel the drag of the canopy so really push and slowly.... as you feel the canopy want to take off....put gradual input on the rear risers. you may or may not take off on that slope depending on its actual angle, your weight, the canopy, wind speed, and your skill. anyone reading this rember only a slope like the one shown on the original post are safe to try this. meaning, mellow, NO obsticals, good runout and not too high. toggles are for getting you out of the shit. meaning Don't use them unless you have to! keep the pace on. obviously you use them for landing you want to keep that power there when you need it. REMEMBER you will not have as much flare as you are used to because you are generally using some of that flare to fly. This can be very frustrating and very fun! look in your yellow pages see if there are any paragliders around and go and watch them! talk to them. they know heaps. REMEMBER ground launchung is the same as paragliding only untill the feet come off the ground. after that you are in a different ballpark! Don't rush, this shit can be VERY dangerous. taking off is a commitment. be aware. HAVE FUN? If the wind is bumpy as all hell then Go Home. If you are getting dragged , Go Home "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
