we (N.Z.) often use the word cunt in a positive manner e.g. " man that guys a good cunt" means "that guys a really good person" I don't know where it came from but we use it all the time. the word bugger was a part of a toyota campaign and bought cheer to all. This all sounds very believable and typical of the american attitude to other cultures. The u.s. had slaves only a couple of decades ago. this guy is/was in the special sevices and although he was not superhuman he probably had ample training in detecting insurgents through observation. how does an old farmer with one leg pose a threat to the u.s. military? you too could probably detect authentic FEAR in sombodys/everybodys eyes at a glance. This is a long story but i'll keep it short. I'm feeling a little lost just now and you guys always seem to make sense. O.k. i started working at this dropzone last august, the ownership just changed hands when i started. the previous owner and propieter was a good man. the new owner is not and never was a jumper, he owns two ther dz's in the country and does not like to pay. After 4 months of getting frustrated because the operations of the dropzone were stupid and uneconomical. and the manager quit (gee i wonder why?) and his replacement decided not to ever show up (gee i wonder why) I put my hand up to sort it out. he made me Operations manager instantly, for the next 8 weeks i worked long days 7 days a week constantly being houded by him at 7am and 10:30 pm demanding i do certain duties i kept asking him about renumeration contracts etc. (i had a small clue of what he was like) he kept pushing it away. whenever i came across a position wher the company had been acting outside of the law and Skydiving industry rules he told me not to worry about it. I finaly got to get a meeting with him to sort it out. i had to pull the car over while driving him to get him to listen to me. I knew he doesn't like to pay so i kept the amount low (legally here, he had to have a contract before i started with an agreed figure) I said i wanted only $12.50 an hour (for manager???) for 8 hours a day to keep it as a salary type deal. and be paid for the tandems i missed under instruction from him (his suggestion at the time) when I said the figure... now this is 7 soild weeks of work plus missing jumping to sort his fuck up of a life out, He tells me I CANT AFFORD IT!!! The company (all 3 dz's) did 68 tandems the previous day! he said I would have to come up with a different/lesser figure or our relationship would be affected. I held my ground and refused to budge. I told them if they did not pay me i would report them to the authorities, they paid the very next day. I ended up resigning from managers position and just doing tandems, now I have been squeesed out completely, my position has been taken by an immigrant who was workin illegaly and breaks many rules. I have a job in europe starting in a few weeks(jumping choppers and sigmas) so it is all good but i do not like to see a man like this get away with this sort of conduct, he has gone through 4 managers in 3 months. The d.z. is beautiful and is on consevation land i could have him crushed by the NZPIA, OSH, Immigration(i have already taked to them) etc but my friends work there. they seem dark on me now too. any suggestions? I jump a Next tandem and compared to the vector2 tandem it seems much better? All tuck flaps instead of velcro, nicer harness and looks like a sport (student) rig. I havn't heard of any problems and have seen a few sporty nexts come through the d.z. i dont like that funny material though. looks like fish net stockings. I am not from or in the USA. My opinion is that it is more of a capitalist state that the rest of the world are being drawn into. consuming more than is needed is a status sybol in itself. The usa is pretty full on when it comes to this sort of stuff but it is not the usa alone. GWB has put USA on the pedestall in recent years and The USA rules the media so we see alot of the usa and its antics. the american dream is that of many. that is basicly an easy, cushy life with heaps of modcons. everybody in the west seems to want this weather they are in the us or not. the rest just want to make it through the day without being hungry. Listen to what they have to say usually they ask if I belong to church etc. I tell them politely that I do not beleive or disbelive anything.
