    some newer aff systems have basic freefly incorporated to teach the safety of it all. why not straight away, but only once 'they' have learned stability on 'thier' belly. many solos and some coaching will get you there quick. if you're not going to do lots of FS then why spend too much time in it, but remember belly flying is still part of freefly!     Tanzania!!! a new dropone is opening there in the next few days. the guy doing the red tape etc. is a friend/examiner of mine and myself and my partner were lucky enough to get work there. the owner is an english guy that owns a very succesful balloon safaris business there so i am confident in the marketing etc. the airfield is in a town called Moshi, which is the closest town to Mt Kilimanjaro , there seems to be many mountains around there so i'm hoping to get some ground launching in too! www.skydivekilimanjaro.com "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

    I am going to buy a new canopy and i'm not too sure on which one to get! i have jumped a vx but not a jvx but the openings look nicer on the jvx. also which loading to get. i am currently on a fx89 at 2.0-2.1 depending on breakfast. but what is the ideal wingloading for distance? any input much appreciated.

    a guy celebrated his 10000th tandem in taupo new zealand last year, him and his partner had body paint on and looked like wild cats. i know of others that have 8000+ and in some dropzones you cane expect 1000-1600 tandems per year! I have 500 tandems in the last 12 months and from what i am used to seeing this is not much but most people say it is heaps. i like to mix the sport jumps in as well as some video and aff.     I was told by a relative workshop rep here at the world meet that somthing very exiting is to be released by the relative workshop in the next month or so, and tha it will be the talk of town so to say.     i also find that moving the customer to the left, right or forward by thier hips is a great way of controlling turns etc. never tried booties and havn´t felt like i have needed them either. a not too short and definately not too long briefing is the BEST tool also. and it bugs me when TM´s frighten thier customers in the briefing and complain tha they were stiff and difficult. a relaxed TM is a relaxed customer.     i guess that depends on your canopy and harness but if you loosen your chest strap and the risers move further apart then you are making your canopy more eficient. the flatter the canopy the more efficien it is.     1.3 wingloading is pretty light for harness turns on thier own but if you use your harness as well as your risers it should help to minimise the distortion from the riser input. i use harness only for my approach but i am loaded at 2.0 "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

    gyro, from nz aerosports is the forfather if icarus canopies, and has licenced out the right to make them to a US company and a spanish company (cisma or something like that). the spaninsh company developed the crossfire 2 the omni i think the saffire 2 the neos and of course the icarus reserve! nz arosports developed dadalus project! so jvx, glx and gls NZ aerosports. dadalus NOT ICARUS. neos, cisma NOT ICARUS. Icarus is licenced out by Gyro and he doesn´t know much about neos at all. Gyro is in my daligation here at the world meet so i will ask him to finalise but as far as i know this is how it is!     if you have the cash then get your crossfire now!!! once you suss the viper you will want to go longer and dive more and you will have to start again! a longer recovery arc is safer too. i am currently at the world meet and those that are swooping stilettos etc. make my adrenilan flow because i think they are going to fimur every time! there is fuck all room for error on those things. the crossbraced canopies that dive from much higher are much nicer to watch and more relaxing to watch. and they swoop more than twice the distance. you know you want to be there, so why waste your time working on a short recovey arc?
