  1. I know what you mean about the TRV. i used tohave a TRV18 and it was much wider than most of the PC's except the PC9. What is so pro about this lens that makes it more expensive? it is still not much. my friend had one a couple of years back and she had no problems with it. Is the glass better? If you say it is wider than the cheaper Kenko.5 then i will try it out. The .43 has too much fish eye, looks good for some shots but tweaks others too much. thanks for your help though guys. 2. Poly Sana(i'm sorry in Swahili) about your neck. Which type of RDS are you using? and why dont you want the bag and P/C to come off? do you notice much difference between the stock slider and the rds? 3. Quote>Thanks for your meaningful feedback. You are acting like the true pillar of the sport that you are. actually i voted left because i assumed you we asking what you prefer before i read. yes i know 'assumption is the mother of all fuck ups' but if you had made a better title for the poll i wouldn't have made this mistake and niether would others? so yes the poll means nothing but an interesting point though. 4. Do you use an RDS mark? and how different to the ZP model is it in performance? i can't sleep at the moment! i just want it to arrive! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  5. the centurion 4.0 is due to be released in the very near future. We would wait a year after release to purchase one. we will see if there are any teething problems. mercedes benz don't piss around though so we can expect a very good motor and a turning point in light aircraft aviation! the smaller centurions have already paved the way for the future! 6. Hi All, I am filming freestyle skydiving. I am currently using a single filiment lens with no branding/information on it. It was the first lens i ever bought and it was second hand. I have a Kenko .5 and a Kenko.42 the lens i am using is somewhere between these two in width. i don't like the kenko .5 because it is too narrow and i don't like the kenko .42 becase it is too 'fish eye' the width of my un-named lens is perfect and it never seems to fog. But the image is too dark and I cannot use the program AE functions. Even if the sun is on the subjects face the image is too dark. what is a lens that will suit my needs? I don't mind spending some money as it is for cometition. thanks for any help. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  7. I have done 1000's of jumps from a cresco, great plane for a medium-large dropzone. a little out of our leauge right now at NZ$1.2 million dollars. I think a second hand 206 with grunt would be more appropriate! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  8. Hey ricky you beat me to it I was going to ask the same thing! my hybrid84 will be here in a few days. Hows ya million jumps a month treating you? have you had the weather? When do you get yours? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  9. The turbo 206's have worked well at previous dropzones I have worked at (the continental ones not the lycoming ones!) and I have heard of quite a few turbine 206's and 207's. Jet A1 is cheaper! and most importantly constantly available in Africa. The initial purchase price is less of a concern than running cost. As stated we would be looking at repowering the aircraft with a Mercedes Benz Centurion 4.0 (300hp piston Diesel/Jet A1 engine) in a year or so. We need 'power' because our dropzone is already 2760 ft above sea level! any othe suggestions on aircraft? 10. Hi, I am trying to gain information on the average running cost of a Cessna 182 and a turbo charged or turbine 206 per lift to flight level 120 (including the maintanence). We are paying (FAR) too much for lease at the moment and want to look at purchasing the correct aircraft. We are leasing a 182 and are looking at a 206 with the intention of upgrading the engine to a Centurion 4.0 in a year or so. We are situated in Africa and things cost more here but just to get an idea of the differences I would be interested to see what people pay around the world? If you don't want to tell the world feel free to PM me. Thanks in advance for any replies. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

  12. Nerd! We aren't all scholars you know language is an interesting thing, some try to keep it standard and others just don't give a fuck. my writing is not that bad. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  13. Hi, I was reading the thread that got locked because differences of opinion. I do not wish to further the deate of what canopy is better. i just want people especially newbies to learn the difference. I stoved myself in on a maveric 200 turning too low when i had little jump numbers, too much confidence and not enough/the right advice. we can hurt ourselves on any canopy and have to be ready for any number of different situations to deal with. I did 800 jumps on a heatwave 120 (similar but not the same as a stiletto) and then 800 jumps on a crossfire1 109. I could honestly say that the crossfire was much safer to jump even with the size difference. I noticed in the last thread that the less experienced jumpers were getting rheemed by much more experienced jumpers/moderators. I cant imagine these guys that were discussing the actual content of the thread felt too good about that and therefore would have taken any advice with a grain of salt. not a good learning environment! Newbies don't want to hear I've jumped this and this and this and this and i've got heaps more experience than you so you can't give me advice. Credentials are good but not immedediately before telling someone they are wrong, it just looks arrogant. they want to hear positive information that will teach them valuable lessons, lets teach them! while jumping shorter recovery arc eliptical canopies for 800+ jumps (stilletto, heat wave, hurricane, diablo) i found the tendancy for line twists to create a dive much more frequently(i can't remember the amount of times i had my hands on the emergency handles). I also found myself in the corner more often as the initiation altitude was much lower. as soon as i jumped the crossfire I had 800 consecutive beautiful openings (no hands on any handles!) and had a much nicer/safer feeling dive and swoop. The canopies did take considerable time to transition from one to another because they were so different. Looking back I wish I had spent the other 800 jumps on a crossfire or similar. the shorter recovery arc didn't teach me much but how dangerous it was! I have a JVX84 hybrid coming and I have 3000 jumps BUT i am still going to start my landing pattern all over again (slow carving 90's)when i jump this canopy. every body needs to do this and everybody needs to know to do this. no canopy is the same. be safe, and stay out of the corner! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  14. No but i moved from a heatwave 120 to a crossfire 109, not the same at all but similar in the differences. you will notice that the openings take longer and are much more predictable and nice, a bit strange at first but you will get used to it. the crossfire flies much nicer and definately hs a longer recovery arc. How many jumps do you have on the stiletto? the flare is much longer on the crossfire than the stiletto so make sure you practice this up high. you will come to love your crossfire and i congratulate you on your choice. however be most careful please with your jump numbers and such a different canopy you can get yourself in trouble. if you take some canopy coaching now it would be ideal and will keep you safe and your learning curve shorter. safe jumping Rhys "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  15. so if i attended university i cannot quote the work of others? If you read my profile you will clearly see that i am a new zealander not an american/californian. i said it was written by one californian to the rest of america. people like you that get anal about the grammar and finer points in a post and forget about/decide not to contribute to the actual reason of the thread are called what? hijackers, trolls.... lets talk about the fuckwit, asshole, stupid ass, cant even run his own business let alone a country, murdering, greedy cunt of a presedent that the USA elected as the savior of our planet!! sigh and not have a discussion on who knows what about plaigarising. we have all learnrned what it means now! 17. I've been getting into my old music lately check this one out it is a ficticious conversation between the Secretary of War at the State Department of the United States and Margaret Thatcher. the subjects are a bit dated but hey it still cracks me up when i listen to it below is a page where you can listen to it and below that is the lyrics. enjoy http://play.rhapsody.com/deadkennedys/givemeconvenienceorgivemedeath/kinkysexmakestheworldgoround?didAutoplayBounce=true DEAD KENNEDYS LYRICS "Kinky Sex Makes The World Go 'Round" Greetings:This is the Secretary of War at the State Department of the United States We have a problem. The companies want something done about this sluggish world economic situation Profits have been running a little thin lately and we need to stimulate some growth Now we know there's an alarmingly high number of young people roaming around in your country with nothing to do but stir up trouble for the police and damage private property. It doesn't look like they'll ever get a job It's about time we did something constructive with these people We've got thousands of 'em here too. They're crawling all over The companies think it's time we all sit down, have a serious get-together- And start another war The President? He loves the idea! All those missiles streaming overhead to and fro Napalm People running down the road, skin on fire The Soviets seem up for it: The Kremlin's been itching for the real thing for years. Hell, Afghanistan's no fun So whadya say? We don't even have to win this war. We just want to cut down on some of this excess population Now look. Just start up a draft; draft as many of those people as you can. We'll call up every last youngster we can get our hands on, hand 'em some speed, give 'em an hour or two to learn how to use an automatic rifle and send 'em on their way Libya? El Salvador? How 'bout Northern Ireland? Or a "moderately repressive regime" in South America? We'll just cook up a good Soviet threat story in the Middle East-we need that oil We had Libya all ready to go and Colonel Khadafy's hit squad didn't even show up. I tell ya That man is unreliable. The Kremlin had their fingers on the button just like we did for that one Now just think for a minute-We can make this war so big-so BIG The more people we kill in this war, the more the economy will prosper We can get rid of practically everybody on your dole queue if we plan this right. Take every loafer on welfare right off our computer rolls Now don't worry about demonstrations-just pump up your drug supply. So many people have hooked themselves on heroin and amphetamines since we took over, it's just like Vietnam. We had everybody so busy with LSD they never got too strong. Kept the war functioning just fine It's easy. We've got our college kids so interested in beer they don't even care if we start manufacturing germ bombs again. Put a nuclear stockpile in their back yard, they wouldn't even know what it looked like So how 'bout it? Look-War is money. The arms manufacturers tell me unless we get our bomb factories up to full production the whole economy is going to collapse The Soviets are in the same boat. We all agree the time has come for the big one, so whadya say?!? That's excellent. We knew you'd agree The companies will be very pleased. 23. Quote>Not to put too fine a point on things, but could you please tell me which European country has had a government longer than the U.S.? Yes, yes, countries have kept the same names . . . France, England, Germany . . . but have their governments actually been intact for as long as say . . . 200 years? France? Well, clearly no. Germany? No. England? Uh . . . no. Hmm . . . adolescent country my ass! If you read my last post you will see that i was not talking about the structures of the govornments. I was talking about the attitude of the people and govornments. we will assume that all the govornments are adolescent as it has been commented that none of the democracys have had the chance to stand the test of time. France? 16 acting like 23 kinda hip but with attitude and arrogance. Germany? 16 acting like 30 and kinda stiff, quite intellegent though and seen many social problems in the past. England? 16 acting 40, quite conservative and can't cook. well spoken and content. U.S.A. 16 going on 14, loud, violent, and greedy/selfish, stubbon and can be known to throw small tanties if it doesn't get its way. the worst idiosyncrasy of the USA is the self importance! 24. >The cultures from Europe are not perfect models that everyone should aspire to, any more than America is. Overall, we've got a good thing going here in the USA, thankyouverymuch, and our democracy is as old as any democracies in Europe. Go back in time further than America's founding, & those European governments weren't even democracies, so they haven't withstood the test of time any better than America, since modern-day European societies are of a different nature than they were in the past. If you break your arm in the USA and don't have insurance...... what do you do? why do you have to step over Bums over the street in the states when you visit? in europe every one was quite well of as far as I could see. I'm not saying all of europe is wonderful and yes the govornment structures have changed in the last couple of hundred years but culture is a different story. Clture directly reflects the actions of the said people. america dismissed its culture when it took over the real estate and created its own culture (costitution) and bread a very large culture of gun slingers and rednecks. this is a good amount of the problem we face today. not to say all americans are rednecks just the cuture reflects this. 25. You couldn't honestly say the sabre2 is a crap canopy. even if you were the owner of an opposing company. it was state of the art a coulple few years ago and is still a good canopy. There are 'in my opinion' better canopies in that range. others would say not. But you have a brand new sabre2 and all i can say is Be safe and enjoy it! a tapered 135 sounds perfect for your experience and currency. good choice. and who gives a shit what others say. they are jelous you have a brand new canopy.
