gotta love the 10 commandments; Have no gods. Don't worship stuff. Be polite. Take a day off once in a while. Be nice to folks. Don't kill people. Don't fool around on your significant other. Don't steal stuff. Don't lie about stuff. Don't be greedy. I'm not an athiest by the defintion given because i think existance itself is the higher being that created everything. but the athiest way of thinking is far closer than the biblical myths that are pushed by the churches. Great link! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

>This has become the nation of couch potatoes and lard asses with no incentives to exercise. And seems to be the point of the original post. Kinda? Not only the united states of america but worldwide the economies are being ruled by multinational companies. These companies play a mighty role in the obesity and over consumption problems the world faces today. A fat, lazy person that listens to thier ipod all day or plays on a playstation etc., eating thier well packaged (enviriomental problem), Tastey (hows ya lard ass), easily availabe (eye level at the corner store, well almost every store in the world!)products makes the particular companies eg, Nesle, Coca cola etc. very very rich indeed! The drug companies are exactly the same they are companies that make money, and they want more money. that is the problem. Yes the emphasis has changed from providing what is needed to providing what will make the most money. It is a huge problem but many govornments(or most likely members of the govornments) in question have vested interest in the performance of such companies. It is not about the people anymore it is about the companies, companies basicly own the govornments through financial commitments. NO? It is interesting that whenever you go groundlaunching you are not garanteed to fly your canopy but you are always garanteed an adventure. we got to 'the spot' and the wind was all wrong. we drove to the other side of the hill and had a wee play but the conditions and slope(landing area) were less than ideal. In africa people like to make problems in order to obtain money out of you. The area we are launching is a Masai area and fortunately for us we employ a Masai to guard our home and I am also teaching him to pack the tandems. A guy came up to us and said we have to go to the office. I diplomaticly told him we will go to the office and do things properly. Leigh was already half way up the hill so i went up to retrieve her. the wind was all wrong anyway. We drove to the nearest settlement and stopped at a small shop constructed of wooden logs wrapped in sacks selling single cigarettes and newspapers. The guy there spoke no english. but with my limited Swahili I could understand what he had to say. I asked where the office was and he said "downstairs" we were standing on a dusty dirt area with no signifcant buildings to be seen. we jumped in our van and drove 100 metres 'down' the road. waiting for us was the so called 'village chief executive officer' and the office was the side of the road, I smelled a rat. He asked us what were were doing and why we were there without permission. I have to add; the area is a masai area and we asked our guard to ask the local Masai if it was O.K. to fly there. and they were all very happy to have us there. we were there for the second time, the last time we were there all the children were very thirsty so this time we brought 80litres of clean drinking water with us. we like to respect our site and the people from there. I told the man that we asked the locals and they were fime with it. There is no office and no sign for any such office and we appologise for overstepping our boundaries. He then told us that we could leave but our guard had to remain with them (there were about 10 of these people by this stage)and will be taken to the police. I asked him what he had done wrong and he said "you do not know the laws of tanzania so you are free, your masai does know the laws and he will pay for breaking them. I knew he was false and wanted to do something with our poor guard, if he wanted money he would have detained us! I said my guard is my responsibilty, we bought him here and we are responasable. please get in the vabn and we will immediately go to the closest police station to sort this out properly not on the side of the road. He began to sweat and told us to leave, with our guard. we then went to Pashas (our guards) home which is a small family settlement made from cow excrement and sticks. but quite comfortable, we did sleep in our van though http://www.on-the-matrix.com/africa/masai_people.asp the moral of the story is that you never know what will happen when you go groundlaunching, be careful and be educated on the ownership of the land in question. Are you a polytheist, monotheist, agnostic, or atheist?
rhys replied to grue's topic in Speakers Corner
>short version - them - "It's bring your neighbor to church - would you like to go" me - "no thanks, were spoken for on sunday" them - "don't you think your kids deserve the oppertunity to go to sunday school?" me - "Tell you what, I let you take my kids and put them in a room for a hour and you can tell them what you think - but then you let me take your kids and put them in a room and tell them what I think for an hour" they didn't like this idea... That is priceless, you could add at the end "don't you think you kids deserve to know all thories and make informed decisions for themselves" "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
Senators Assert Right to Block Bush’s Iraq Plan

And who said nothing could be done about GWB! huh. Now do you see him as a murderer and a dictator? People like Senator Russell Feingold can save the reputation of the United States govornment. GWB has a chance to admit he was wrong or more likely will dig himself into a large hole that will shame him and his family for generations. Dood, Don't you think the (comany formerly known as the) Relative Rorkshop, call centre would be the best way to get the information that you want rather than asking on a public forum? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
Hi, I don't really know the imperial system so cant really tell your size from those stats. But when i was learning there was a bigger guy in my course that had this problem. He purchased some of those pads that you can buy for your seat belts in your car! you know the ones they have pictures of Tazzie and Buggs bunny etc. on them. I know he found the extra padding to help the problem. Welcome to skydiving, be safe and have fun! >We do not know what the effects will be, but we know at least some of them will be bad (i.e. flooding of coastal areas) 4) Slowing down this change by reducing the CO2 we emit will give us more time to mitigate the problems this causes (like how to relocate millions of people) I guess this puts Nederland up shit creek without a paddle eh. a storm surge or two away from being a giant swoop pond! Pretty good deal for you africans out there! http://www.skydive.co.zw/ pac750, mint accomodation, elephants, lion walks, rafting and Jumping! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
I have a JVX84hybrid and tought i wouldn't be jumping it for a couple of months as i am the only t/m at a small tandem dropzone that leases and expensive plane = too expensive to fun jump. About an hour ago we go a phone call from one of the flying doctors that frequents our airport and he took us for a free jump to 5000' wahoo! the opening was smooth and it flys amazing, It is correct to say that you really need to be ready for one of these canopies these things are Fast! I had a small play and managed to lose about 1000' with a 360 degree turn without even really trying. for landing I did less than a 90 and swooped further than I would have gone on my FX89 doing a 270 degree aproach. Can't wait to jump it again(and again and again) and thought I would let you all know what I thought iof this amazing new canopy. Do you respect the leadership in your country? Why/Why Not?
rhys replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
I have never lived in auckland but have heard the prices are comparable to queenstown. to rent about nz$300-$600 per week depending on your taste and to purchase probably between $300,000 and $600,000 auckland is a shit hole though. It would be better to live in wellington (capital) if you like urban living or somewhere in the south island if you like nature. The south island shits all over the north island with price, scenery, crime (or lack there of)and ease of living (no traffic). Of our 4 million people only 1 million live in the south island which in size is about the same as the north island. The geography is competely different on each island. the south island has thousands of mountans (that cober more area than the europen Alps! there are more than 1200 glaciers in the bottom half of the island and more fresh water than any nation could ever need! Our lakes are up to 450metres deep and are very pure. You are most welcome and when you come to the south island be sure to contact me. I know the best places to jump etc! some nice photos and maps etc.; http://images.google.com/images?q=south+island+new+zealand&ndsp=20&svnum=10&hl=en&rls=GGLR,GGLR:2006-50,GGLR:en&start=0&sa=N "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -

We used to use 4:20 or more often 'safety meeting' back in the 90's when we were snowboarding or skateboarding etc. and wanted to discuss a location for a session. I was always told that 420 was the code used by the U.S. police force when they caught someone smoking weed. like 187 etc. That wasn't listed in the origins on the linked page so i assume it was bullshit? I suppose if you consider paying $50 to stand in a room with 5000 other people, waiting too long to pay too much for a beer good nightlife. then i suppose you are right! I would think the best night life in New Zealand would be in wellington(did you go there?). Most of the countries best musicians are from or based in wellington. that shit cost too much money and makes you feel like shit the next day anyway. i used to go out alot but that was when i was single and spent all my money gorking at lusty females that were probably already taken. I am engaged now so no need for that. if i want music... i download or buy a CD if i want alcohol i buy a bottle of wine or two and invite my friends over. If i want a concert I go to one. Pink Floyd is playing in my home town this evening but I am not in the country It is all about pros, cons and expectations. I don't know much about black history in america. But I do live in Tanzania and down the road is an old building where slaves used to be bought and sold. There are many African americans and I would assume that the vast majortiy of these have come from the historic slave trade in America? from watching the media it seems it is cooler to be black than white (eg, justing timberlake talking like a Negro etc.) it is prevalant in the entertainment industry. Dr dre made the most money 'IN ENTERTAINMENT' a couple of years ago and i would think it was not only black people buying the albums?, so it seems it is cool to be black. EG, wiggas (white niggas) 'tommy hilfiger' was invented to cater for this market! That doesn't take away from the fact of how all the african americans came to be. Racism is still abundant in certain areas and education is needed to rid this disease. Black history month is part of this education. >Still - NZ is a fantastic country. I'd live there if it wasn't so boring! What is so boring about a country that has diverse landscapes, oceans and beaches, mountains, lakes forests, and a small town that is known as the adventure capital of the world? we also have macdonalds and KFC, cinemas, shopping malls and so on if you are that way inclined. What is boring about New Zealand? the fact that you don't get mugged or murdered? NZ rocks! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -

>By example, how many politicians have not exaggerated the faults of their opponents? Probably not many. Now what is exaggeration? At the most basic level it's lying. Another example... I think its common for people to simply accept that politicians make promises they know they cannot keep to get elected. Helen Clark is a honest woman and as part of her last campain she clearly stated that she followed through with every promise made in the last election prior to her geing re-elected. She did follow through with all her promises. The political system in the U.S. and england do not represent the worlds stand on politics. if anything it has shown us all how things should not be done. I believe you are confusing politition with corrupted politition. Ther have been many good polititions in history and just because of the bad eggs doesn't mean they are all evil. If someone wants to become a politition to create a positive impact they should not be discouraged, that is an admirable ambition. If they want become a politition to lap up fringe benifits and do fuck all then the should most certainly be discouraged "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
