Cor, Thanks We are happy with the website, a few more ammendments need to be made(spelling etc.) after the boogie we will be attending in Zimbabwe in a couple of weeks there will be some wonderful photos and a up to date video etc. The site was built from scratch by a local guy here in Tanzania for a megre $150, not bad for the price eh. We will also be making a sport skydiving in NZ DVD later in the year to promote sport skydiving in New Zealand as well as out team. In the last couple of years there has been a few DZ's in NZ that have gone turbine. sowe are really looking forward to touring our own country after a year away and jumping at every dz. Thanks for the complements, and yes Leigh is an outstanding young woman. She has some amazing achievments for her tender age of 23 including a world record and jumping on every continent excluding antarctica.

And I suppose you think the content of this page is appropriate, the very first thing i see when i google 'NRA KKK' http://www.nra-kkk.org/ Personally i find that quite disturbing. This was the second thing i found http://www.burntorangereport.com/archives/003895.html and the third a little more towards the other way but still not dfinitave;http://www.theinternetparty.org/commentary/c_s.php?td=20030526000108§ion_type=com As i said I was Just poking. I don't think all gun owners are racist, but I think it is a huge problem that anyone feels the need to carry a gun. the second ammendment is the problem, unfortunately you cant take that away and you cant change the fact there are millions of guns in incorrect hands, and now you all feel the need to have one to be safe, How many of you have actually pointed a gun and used it in self defence? would that actually be helping your safety or making things more dangerous? think about it! a rather tender subject, another slice anyone "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Immigrating to NZ to do tandems, info plz if you've done it
rhys replied to AdD's topic in Instructors
I am a kiwi so havn't gone through the visa process. It really depends on where you go but skydiving is a very specialist thing and if you have employment in advance you will have no trouble getting a visa. that was the case in queenstown and i also know it is slightly more difficult in auckland. that is not to say it is 'Green Card' difficult though. N.Z. is a pretty easy going country. I hope you enjoy the country, be sure to tour the south islands west coast and the southern lakes. why not mod your stock slider with a couple of loops of tape and get some spectra from somwhere so you can still remove your pilot chute and D bag and stow your slider as normal? that would only cost a couple of $. That is while deflated and lying on the ground though isn't it? The proflile of a JVX is much thinner than a velocity so when inlflated those sizes will not be the same anymore.also by that example a JVX 70 will have a higher aspect ratio than a velocity 70 but with more surface area? per PD's website the aspect ratio of the Velo 103, 96 and 90 are all 2.69:1. 120s and 111s are 2.71:1 and 84s and 79s are 2.68:1. blah blah blah... Why get your tits in a tangle over figures now, NZAerosports canopies have had a different sizing method from the start have they not? Considering Jyro developed his own computer cutting technique especialy for but not exclusivly for x braced parachutes I think they know what they are talking about. who says the PD method of measuring is the correct one. And to say it is a tactic to make people look cooler by having a seemingly higher wingloading is a load of crap! Just jump what you like. it is your choice. they(velocity, xaos,fx,vx, jvx)are all good canopies and have different charachteristics. I love choice, don't you? blue skies, rhys "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

How is enjoying a redneck being exposed as the redneck he is, being ignorant? of course aother gun toting rednecks will be admiring the old fella for years to come. doesn't stop him from being a redneck. Or are you trying to say there are absolutely no ties between the former KKK and the NRA? Lighten up buddy! this is the speakers corner. You remind me of myself when I first discovered this forum, taking everybody too seriously and getting wound up about it. I was just poking. but yes I do think easily available firearms are bad, as bad as judging someone by the color of their skin. I too suggest going to sky dive Auckland, you will meet some people there on the weekend and there will surely be somewhere you can stay. some people also jump in whenuapai so that may be an option also. americans are stubborn and slow to take in the benifits of ease. take the metric system for example and 5000cc vehicles they do have drive trough ATM's though, klazy bastards. Between internet banking and debitcards/eftpos what is the point of cash? Just like the cheque, cash will mostly disappear but still have a meager existence for the old schoolers until they are all dead. we all knew this in the 80's "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Congrats on your JVX84 hybrid, I have that same, I would have purchase a larger size if i was getting something else but I did the research. I too have only jumped mine a couple of times, I just attached a para concepts RDS but haven't jumped it yet with that on. The para concepts RDS is the nicest I have seen but I can't comment on how it performs. i did question Lord Slaton on the issue and he said that the para concepts system was the most suitable for a JVX. It sure is weird packing with no stabalisers. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Thats what I like about you grant; You are most informative and serious when the need arises but a super smart ass when you can't think of anything better to say! Good shit! and well said. P.S. have you ordered your sigma to put your all sail jvx in yet? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I have been that last owner of many cars the reason is that i don't like to spend too much on a vehicle. The most Kilometres was my 1980 Datsun bluebird, That thing did nearl 500,000 k's on a single engine and gearbox. I took it off the road because it would have been too expensive to get a C.O.F. My 1980 toyota corona did 390,000 k'ms when i transferred the engine and gearbox to a different body but someone decided to have a head on collision in fron of me and that was the end of that. My frieds father is a cabbie in NZ and gets around 1 million k's from his toyotas, his cars are constantly running though 24/7. and 80 % of engine wear is when you start the engine as the oil has not yet circulated. if you warm your car up wit only an idle you will get much more life out of them. servicing helps too! The first car to do 1 million k's on its origional engine was the 1974 toyota corolla! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Considering the magnitude of the situation and the amount of javelins that are effected. Is it not sun Paths responsibility to make sure all javelin users know about this? A post on their own website and a story on DZ.com isn't really adequate. I haven't read any response from the company themselves. but I guess they have a very large headache just now from answering the telephone? Michael Moore does use a bias point of view but then again does have a 'south park' type approach of taking current events and exposing the 'awful truth' of the way the people that are in powerful positions are actually intellectually handicapped. In a sense he puts words into their mouths but he cannot control what they actually say. I especially enjoyed his interview with Charlton Hesten of the KKK (ahem oops) NRA. Those good old dead old white guys How the fuck did Charlton Heston allow Michael Moore to have an interview with him? almost as bad as Elton John having an interview with Ali 'G'. "So, how long is you been a batty boy then?" You think celebrities would research their interviewers eh ? or at least get their PA's to do so. Sheesh now I gotta see it! the free fall back into the aircraft that the flyboys and co. did was very impressive but to be flying on an angel with an aircraft that has a prop turning is the most impressive skydiving I have ever seen. any photos? Has this situation been taken seriously in SA? It is just the USA that is effected right? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

my problem is that I have a new canopy(JVX 84hybrid),a new RDS(para concepts), new instruments and have 1 had a fun jump in 3 months.(I'm the only t/m at a small Cessna dz with an expensive lease) Only 19 more sleeps to the boogie, only 19 more sleeps to the boogie...... 60 jumps in 2 weeks is going to make me a complete person again. Crossfire 2 - to what crossbraced???
rhys replied to airborne82nd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I am no real advocate for Velocity openings as I have jumped one less than 10 times. The openings I had on them were fine and considering I had an old school large fiberglass top mount with all the heavy camera gear and shit on so the openings got a thumbs up from me. I was jumping a heatwave that the time so in comparison anything would open nice i suppose. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
I have used a little cardboard cutout of a human form bent into an arch position and a shuttle cock from badminton to show customers why it is that we arch. But now days I take a KISS approach and only teach them what is necessary. and use the rest of the time to get to know them. That booklet of photos is a wonderful idea, not only for deaf students but when there is any language barrier it would also come in handy. Nice thinking. Good to see you care about your customers enough to go out of your way to help them. big thumbs up. I have never been in the military but I was jumping with air force and army jumpers in Australia. From the stories they were telling me, it seemed as though you earn your rank first and then people listen to you! I would think that was widespread in all military environments because of the pecking order! roosters don't like to be told what to do by rookies! that is how life works in a pecking order is it not? Carry the Rig on international Flights
rhys replied to fraja's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ops i forgot about that. As far as i am aware it is only the united stated that has that rule. NMost countries wrap the luggage up in cling film to prevent drug smugglers etc. I haven't traveled to the states yet so didn't take that into consideration. Agreed, I was at the world meet and watched the major teams on the big screen. It was spectacular. She may be rich and that gives her a huge advantage but she still had to work to get as good as she is. If I remember correctly she had about 1300 jumps at the time, with copious amounts of tunnel time but even so, standing on the top of the podium at 1300 jumps in the open 4 way at the world meet is a true accomplishment. Carry the Rig on international Flights
rhys replied to fraja's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had no worries travelling with my rig as carry on until the world meet in germany last year. During the week of the world meet all the shit went down in london . n they way back to norway we wen't through so much hassle at the airport answering so many stupid whuffo security guard questions that I decided to purchase a very rugged suitcase for my rig. i can't be bothered with the hassle anymore! The main reason i want to carry it on is o don't want it thrown around by the security people. I found Australian security guards to be the most stubborn , ill informed, lying assholes i have come across. they are so stupid and assume you want to hijack the plane because you have a parachute. Get a hard case and save yourself the hassle! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
