10 years in the sport and into freefly and swooping and jumps a crossfire, I would have thought a neos would be appropriate as the next progression. Jyro re-introduced the crossbrace canopy (PD made the crossbraced excalibur out of F111 way, way back in the day but canned it???)as the Extreme FX back in the 90's. on precicely the same day that PD answered with the Velocity NZaerosports released the extremeVX (Velocity exterminator!) Since that time gyro and others have tweaked the crossbrace configuration and In particular Jim Slaton assisted with the JVX (Jims Velocity exterminator) they were sussing the JSX for a bit with a different structure but the JVX has proven to work. Meanwhile with PD they are yet to release this Zbraced canopy and Daedalus are innovating and changing the way we look at parachute constuction all together. I wonder if the JSX (with NZ bracing) will come out the same day the Z brace does? I cant wait to get my JVX89 Hybrid. was cut this week! To add to the evolution theory, Bats are the only (land based) Mammals that were present in New Zealand prior to tha Maori estimated at about 1000 years ago. There were Only Birds and insects and a few reptiles left from the jurassic period! Bats are of the wing so woul most probably been brought from Australia in some freak storm. Alot of the birds remain flightless because for millions of years the only preditors were birds so the undergrowth of the forest was the safest place. I guess that is why Steve Smith of Skydivingnz.com started the partially govornment funded Commercial skydiving diploma in New Zealand that allows people without silver spoons (such as myself) to enter the world of commercial skydiving. I started this course4.5 years ago with NO jumps. i now have 3000 jumps mostly camera jumps, an Aff rating(hardly used) and a tandem rating. myself and my partner of 23 are running a new dropzone in the tourist aerea of Tanzania. although I am not in my early 20's anymore (32 yesterday) i was a snowboard bun 5 years ago and had this opportunity put before me. we are not just work jumpers as we competed at the world meet in august. so I guess it is not a case of skydiving in general sliding down the hill it is a case of skydiving metimorphasising into a tourist trade. it is booming in New Zealand at a rate that is out of control. but what you mentioned about small DZ's being eaten by bigger DZ's is oh so true! Origionally I answerd no but after reading I would be temted to answer Yes even though I dissaprove of war. Having just left Norway after 6 months there, I noticed they have compulsory military training and they are a peaceful nation. In theory this would be true but in reality it is not. You have to take into consideration all the 'wanna be Rambos' out there that sign up with the present sceme and then anticipate a broader spectrum of people in the military that would eventuate into more rational and educated decisions. Rather than the 'Schmoke em out' and ask later attitude America has at the Moment! that shit gets you ALL in the shit each time and costs American lives, trust, and your so called world power deminishes further and further! ever played 'RISK'? An I would rather be Jumping than doing a menial Job. Yes we do take risks as jumps staff but that risk was accepted well before we started getting paid for it. Packers earn great money for the work usually, if you compare it to digging a ditch or waiting tables etc. If you are not happy there than leave there is a whole world full of skydiving. I was sort of in your shoes and I decided to leave now i am travling the world skydiving, I'm not wealthy but I am getting paid to travel! chin up. I am uncertain of what camber is on a paracute but if it is what I think it is. the curve your parachute has(if you look at it from the front or rear while inflated)? This is set by the lineset and can be changed by stowing the slider down and lossening the chest strap. front riser input does however put a step in the camber if only one is used. My 0.02c I am also interested to hear about what people have to say. Aparently JVX's dont like thier camber too flat and I have just ordered one so it will be interesting to see what is said here?
