does anyone NOT get nervous when they jump?

Newbie, Beating the devil is why we do this. Anyone who states they no longer get a case of the "nerves" is either filling you with BS or should take up bowling. We become "comfortable" with a certain level of risk after a period but, add tasks or increase the work load and the old devil sneaks up again. You learn to control and harness the energy it creates. Skydiving is very much a mental sport. (translates to drug) I still get down from many skydives with the old adrenaline "shakes" a cooking,and a big grin on my face. If it stops, I'll stop. If I no longer "respect the risk" (some times called fear) and manage it or, tell you it does not happen to me (translates to "who me?" also called denial) you can buy my rigs cheap. Don't you just hate those macho skydivers.......... who let the girls in anyway???? Oops........ sorry honey. Blues, J.E. James 4:8 -

Please explain then if you can why your pal mr. clinton bombed the famous "asprin factory" and why all of the demokat asked clinton to "take action"? Ask yourself these questions. Bill, As an S&TA I cannot ground a skydiver or make them jump a larger canopy however, at our DZ the DZO and I work together very well and are very strict concerning unsafe behavior in all aspects of the DZ. AND we have through discussion with each other and with jumpers, not allowed jumpers to fly canopies that are above their ability. In most cases it was a jumper wanting to down size without the experience to do so. I offer and teach canopy flight and encourage them to do so under their current canopy before they make a change. In some cases the go to the other DZ. In most cases they agree after our discussions. James 4:8

Chris, You know as well as I do that we must educate or regulate. Mark's comments on speed, Bill's arguments on the space shuttle are all based upon a "frame of reference" that is known only by the person experiencing the situation. A shuttle pilot will feel like your RJ is a slow little pig flying around the sky while a C-182 pilot will feel like he's riding a rocket in your RJ. How do we move peoples "frame of reference" without gaining experience the old fashion way? (Experience is something you gain AFTER you have survived a situation where you needed it.) Educate. He should be a politician as they can argue with anyone, fill a page full of unrelated comments, twist your questions into questions instead of answers, and they are always right.
