  1. Geeze Bigun........... What you'll do to entertain your passengers! Get the strong done? Be safe and see ya. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  2. Okay Hook, bring it on. One of our local jumpers with aprox. 200+ jumps, just returned from Rantoul. He has been one of those who you list as not if, but when. Seems he attended a swoop seminar at Rantoul given by a big name team swooper and was told "you've got it going, just work on it and start using those rear risers". So he did, missed, and is now in the hospital after breaking a femur, pelvis, dislocating the hip, and bruising a bunch of internals. The DZO and I were out of town at an event and did not see it however, when I visited with him in the hospital the truth of what we've been telling him, the reality of a life time of limping at best seems to have been his wake up call. We can only hope. We can educate, train, or ground them but when you are "bullet proof" it just dosen't matter until the Doctor walks in. Please be safe. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  3. Hey Beav, IMHO, that is the problem most of the time. We all have emotional opinions and the law is the law, regardless of what we think. As far as lawyers go, yes a bad lawyer can be beaten by the "law" not another lawyer. As far as you and legal base, sounds like you are willing to pay the price, have fun! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  4. Mike, Your arguments sound like a dyed in the wool base jumper. Argue from a point of fact not emotions. Think about it. Tax payers fund everything you have stated. Just tell me this, which argument you presented is illegal? A cat climbing a tree, smoking, rock climbing? You are correct, irrelevant to the argument as they are legal actions. If you are willing to pay the price, have at it. Just don't screw things up for the rest of us. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  5. Goose, eject eject, eject, whatch out for the canopy................. must have hit your head!!! What criminal action? Trespass, oh I guess you said that. Are you telling me that if you break the law to commit an action, like a base jump, that the action itself is not illegal???? You've got to be kidding me??? Stop Man! How many ways can you justify breaking the law? But I wanted to do a "legal" base jump officer. The fact that the gate was locked has nothing to do with it???? Do you want to keep your sh*t as you put it? Do legal base.................... Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  6. Your logic does not compute................. The bolt cutters are/were a tool used in a criminal action and therefore are evidence. Your base gear are/were used in the criminal action of trespass and therefore are evidence. If you want to do base, do legal base. Or quit blaming the cops.
  7. Aggie, The burble is there all the time. The problem at drogue release is the sudden change in fall rate. Most people cannot react that fast to avoid a collision. At wave off when I'm doing video I go up and back to get a full opening shot and more importantly to clear the airspace for the tandem. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  8. I believe you just answered your own question. Most of the arguments I see are from jumpers who simply do not know the requirements of the tandem, the maneuverability of the tandem, or what most manufacturers with some consideration/concern for thier TI's and pax's require/suggest/ask the USPA to enforce. If you want to fly with tandems, go get your tandem rating and see if your perspective changes............. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  9. Derek, Make sure and let everyone know "who" gave you that response. It was a RD and not a USPA employee was it not? Give the USPA some teeth boys and girls or do not complain with the "enforcement" you receive. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  10. Hook, I'm dumping all my "favorites" under rigging and using your post! Sucking up, Sucking up, Sucking up, Sucking up, Sucking up,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (did it work????? Now that you've got one of those "green names" you scare me.....) Great stuff. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  11. Oh No! Now he's a "Green Name"................................. Still love ya D. Blues ( and never deleted ) J.E. James 4:8
  12. Chuck, I know your Dad. However, you are not young enough to be my son.................... Well, my oldest is 29........................ Thanks again Chuck. J.E. James 4:8
  13. Guys, Capewell makes the lions share of product for the Military both here and overseas. The pins more than likely have a MilSpec covering the part. Batch tracking is a common practice for most manufacturers of any type of structural, medical, aviation, etc., products. Any manufacturer should be able to "time frame" materials they use. I'd be more concerned if they did "not" know. It is obvious that the field test is not for tensile strength but for deflection due to the load placed upon the pin by the closing loop. Lets see how fast they respond to our questions and how forthright they are with the material problem. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  14. Mjosparky, Bends only. One that was excessive and had just been repacked by a DZO/Rigger. James 4:8
  15. LouDiamond, Rogibird, Skymonkey, Hey guys, the suit arrives this week. Thank you all for your advise, suggestions, and help. After we move this weekend I'll be joining the "old guys scared sh--less" group. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?????????? Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  16. Slut, Beware the Wrath of the Green Names!!!!! Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  17. Okay but, who's working........................ You or Me?????? Beer money................ Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  18. Tom, Checked several rigs this weekend. Only one failure (bend) and it was on a replacement RC purchased November 02 however, they did not have a batch/date stamp on them, only the TSO. The rigger/DZO who installed it called the supplier as he had a couple others and was told they probably did not need to be tested. Very interesting, don't know if its the supplier or the rigger trying to CYA..... On the soft RC handle from Sunpath, the batch number was within the test requirement and the unit passed. I simply market it with a permanent marker by the batch tab. After testing several rigs, I'm not very confident in the testing method. I use a calibrated spring scale that is calibrated against weights and digital however, this did not "feel" the same as a pull test. Let me know how everyone else is doing with this and any suggestions. Blues, J.E. Blues, J.E. James 4:8
  19. TicToc, Just returned home and guess what is in the mail!!!! You know,as I said before I've never taken a tip, I've always told them to put it on their next jump and let me go along, so......... Barry, I'm mailing TicToc's Tip (sounds like a rhyme) to you (Including the 10%)for all the help you've given me. I expect you to add yours to it and pass it on. By the time it gets back to TicToc, he should have a jump ticket!!! Blues to you all, J.E. James 4:8
