Yours is an often used but inaccurate argument. I addressed it in my original post. The funny thing about Americans is that they always figure out how to produce more with less. American farmers have steadily increased production year over year for hundreds of years by using hard work, wit, technology, whatever it took. You argument falls apart when a guy can make $100k a year mowing lawns in Las Vegas. Vegas you say? Isn't that illegal immigrant central? Base on your argument shouldn't you be able to stay in hotels for $10 a night, get meals in restaurants for $1 and get your lawn mowed for $5 if what you say about the "need' for illegal mexican labor is true? The fact is that educated, motivated, and innovative American workers will always be able to come up with ways to do things better and for less costs. Using cheap illegal labor is just stifles our economy from growing faster and becoming more efficient. Our economy is #1 because we have moved forward into more knowledge based work, and industrial based work for the previous 100 years. The US didn't get to where it is by using 1000 of uneducated workers to do a task that someone could figure out how to do better, faster, and cheaper with new equipment & technology. Illegal immigrant labor is a crutch and one that could easily put us behind our economic rivals in that not too distant future.

"unless you are 100% blood line Native American, somewhere at some point, your ancestors were immigrants themselves." You are correct, LEGAL immigrants.
-
I am an American citizen and that makes this my country. If you are proposing to give up all of your property and move off of US soil to make up for the US settling the New World and displacing American indians, then maybe you have a point. However, that is not what we are talking about. The indian argument is simply another distraction to avoid the point for a lack of a supportable argument. BTW, yes, if an immigrant legally moves here, it is his or her country, as well as their children's. I am not holding myself out as special. We are not talking about legal immigrants, are we?
-
No. But that is not the question or the point, is it? This is another ploy to avoid the real issue. You are suggesting that if I am not 100% American Indian that I must be here illegally. There is no logic in that. The question is one of law and criminality, not nationality.

I agree. I voted for Bush twice and I am very disappointed in his handloing, or lack of handling this problem.
-
Why would you call them racists? I don't care what race they are, what they are doing is illegal and damaging to our country. If 10 million French tried to move in illegally I would have view. OK, bad example, but if any other country was doing what the Mexicans were doing it would be the same. People cry racisim to pull your eye off of the truth of the situation. I don't care about their race, I care about their ACTIONS.

I agree. THere is nothig to be gained by boycotting BD. Besides, there will always be somone else who would step in to try to run things, and there will always be plenty of jumpers to fill the slots. The NPS has very little to do with BD. In actuality, lets say the land under the bridge, just South of the BD LZ was owned by generous citizen who would let us land there. If that was ever the case the NPS would not really even need to be involved because their only chip in the game of BD is that we land on NPS propety. That has always been their power play, but it may be a moot point. BD is the biggest BASE event of the year, and the one where we recieve the most attention, and have the biggest platform to get our message out. If we all use every opportunity to speak to the media the way Jason is talking about we will be heard by far more than if we walked away. Cya there!

It occured to me the other day that a full 10 percent of the Mexican population has illegally moved into the US. That is a full on invasion of our country. Its time to militerize the boarder and defend our country from this invasion. Argument from the left: "OH, but we need these people for our economy to work." Bullshit. Before all these illegals moved in seasonal construction work, landscaping, and hospitality work was done by college kids out of school for the summer. Also, I've heard reports (On NPR all you lefties, so you know it must be true) about a guy who moved to Vegas and started a lawn care business. He works mostly by himself and makes $100K a year doing what a a half dozen illegal mexicans will do for the same money. Clearly we don't "need" them in these jobs. From the left: "Oh, but they are just trying to make a liviing for their families." Great, do it legally and I support it fully. You can't run a country if you don't know how many and of who is living here. Why even have legal immigration if we won't stop these criminals. Also, while your at it, tell the people who live in LA where there are gangs of as many as 50,000 illegal mexicans wreaking havok on their communities. There is no left and right on this issue. There are laws and they must be enforced. These peole (for the most part) aren't here to aspire to the American way. The won't follow the laws and they don't or can't learn the language. Ultimately the US will start to look more like Mexico, a third world shit hole. Want proof, just look at communities that have high concentrations of Mexicans. They are always the worst looking areas of a city or town. Thanks goodness for the MinuteMan project and the peopl willing to stand up for America. If only our politicians had any backbone.

I can't see how dropping it helps anything, but it just doesn't have much participation, never has, never will. Board jumps are special jumps with much more danger involved. They are also typically solo, so there goes the social aspect of the sport. It also takes a big commitment to get any good at, and since the average jumper makes a couple hundred jumps and quits, well, they never get to a level to do skysurfing. Like many things in the sport it came and went. There will always be folks who do it but I can't remember the last time I saw a board on a plane. Years ago at Eloy, but never at CK or any local DZ. Skysurfing definitely brough lots of people into the sport, but that was 7 to 10 years ago. On the other hand, how many people actually do S & A (who are under 50)? Good luck with the fight, but your team name sort of tells the story.

I promise you that they are not. There was a bust I was at (but not in) where they accepted a packed skydiving rig (somebody's back up back up rig as their rig to surender as evidence. They never batted an eyeball. I really like the reasonable doubt angle. thats using your noodle!

Inviting the media in is like asking the fox to guard the henhouse. Sure, if they are willing to sign a contract saying that they will foot the bill for legal fees, fines etc, that is good enough for me. However, giving them control of the story and not getting the revune generated from it would leave us out in the cold for certain. The media is no friend of base. Like Red Bull, the media uses base to sell product and could care less about what actually happens to the sport as a result of their activities.

I was driving home from Home Depot this morning on the nicest day of the year so far. Sun shining, listening to Sublime Doin' Time, thinking about Chronicle 2 and all of that nice cliff jumping footage, and it got me thinking about this protest jump. I would really like to be able to go jump legally some day in Yosemite. I think that this project could be the ticket, but I am concerned about the costs. With a fine that can easily be $2,500.00, lawyer fees, additional required travel for court, and loss of gear we could be easily be talking about a $10,000.00 jump. Somebody call Fred Morelli. As an offset to this for any willing to participate I see the potential to use one of the forces that have traditionally worked against us, the media, to make this project a success. If we put enough resources into directing, filming, documenting, and photographing this event there should be a revenue potential there well into 6 figures. Were talking about being able to fill hours of 60 Minutes, 48 hours, REAL TV, MTV Sports and any other "news" shows time slot with a fantastic story. That would increase our chance with the public, since we the group would own all of the footage. With Tom S. and Mark L. and yes, you too Jimmy H. and all the rest of us shooting, this thing could be the big ticket in. If this is what you were talking about all along, then I'm a little slow. Otherwise it was just an idea that would enable all jumpers to unite and work together towards a common goal. I WANT TO JUMP!

Damn that sucks. RIP

Yo Tom, I jumped a Jack-Strap while I was out there in May. It opened the same as a slider down. I haven't talked to Jack since last year, but I'll check to see if the number I have is current. How many have you done wiht thge strap and how have they worked? Cya,

*** "If there's a problem here, it isn't with Mike, it's with the person(s) who submitted the photographs." Right on RLK & Nick. Not a very bright jumper to post pics of an obviously illegal jump with ones name. They are nice pics of a nice bridge that has been jumped for what, 2 decades? I doubt anyonbe outside of the sport bothers to read Skydiving, but if a law enforcement official with an attitude saw it, they would have a pretty easy job to get the guy. Anyone else notice the shrivel flap ripping apart at the top?

Around 6:15 this morning at a North Eastern cliff another member of the Maryland crew qualified for BASE. He needed that E and he got that E. Nothing like a little E for breakfast. Nice job Bert! Cya!

Let the carnage begin. Look out TF!

Anonymous, scared, hiding in your closet? Anyone can look up history and post it as their own. You are obviously lying and making up everything except your paranoia. You are a wuffo, and one with painfully little else going on in your life that you can hang out on a interest based web community that you don't even participate in, all to make wild, inarticulate claims that the world is ending and that only you know the REAL truth. Your brain is out to get you. How sad.
-
Sure. Now you just have to tell us who you are and where you jump at so we can verify what you say. In reality (not that that applies to you), if you were an actual jumper (which we both know your not), I would want to make sure I avoided any DZ that would allow you on the permises. Seek help. What was that? Their coming in the back door! Run while you can! Oh god, they're going to get you!!!
-
What a nut case. Pull your pants up, take your Linthium, and go outside for a while. The voices in your head may stop talking out there. I'll bet you any amount of money that you have never jumped out of a plane, much less ever even been to a DZ (that stands for dropzone). Try www.escapedcrazies.com

Way to go Duh! Nice job Brit. You are hardcore all the way.

With 10 percent of the entire Mexican popoulation (Thats 10 million of them) living illegally in the US, I say that we desperately need to start defending our boarders. I'm all for militerzation of our boarder with Mexico and for spending the money to start rounding up those 10 million criminals and shipping them back, ASAP. But what does Iraq have to do with that? Once again you make no sense, make no point, and come off as a nut case. But you are entertaining, and I do always get a chuckle from reading your dribble. I guess we'll keep you on for a while. Now run along and do what you're told.

Thanks again. I found Registry Cleaner. I already got her Spy Sweeper, and it ofund over 30 spyware programs. No wonder they had pop ups every 10 seconds.

Where and what programs? Thanks
