  1. Its like talking to a ten year old with you Jimmy. One day, when you grow up you'll realize how stupid this is. Until then you will have your 10 year old mentality and keep doing all of the things your parents tell you not to do, just to prove you can and will do them. It is for this exact reason that everyone knows for a fact that you are doing this for your ego. Why are you even hanging out with a 16 year old? I knew a guy who at 31 was into 15 year olds. You know what he was? A fucking demented pervert who liked underage girls. Do you discuss Hillary Duffs latest movie? How about which Simpson sister is the best singer, or which Hilton sister dresses best? There are a million reasons why what you are doing is just plain wrong but lets start with the simple ones. Your old enough to be her father!!! Grow up.
  2. Does anyone know this girls' family, or her last name? Jimmy claims that Clair has her parents' permission, but I seriously doubt it. If mom does know about this, it just proves how screwed up this girl is. I wonder how the law would look at a 35 year old man endangering a 16 year old girl's life just to sleep with her? Statutory rape and child endangerment. That is impressive. Anyone know where this girls lives so the proper authorities can be notified? And yes, I would not think for a second about calling the cops on Jimmy and asking them to look into this. Ethics in base and amongst jumpers are reserved for those who follow them, and those who respect the sport and others in the sport. If anyone has this information and would like to help me I will make the call to the family and the authority. This is so pathetic, even for Jimmy.
  3. Hi Jason, How about a huge sign at the exit point that says "To all spectators, Your Welcome" "The jumpers at Bridge Day collectively Spend over $100,000 to put on this show. The BDC charges $10 a head to perform for you, the NPS charges us $2500.00 to land on THEIR (our) property, and we all have to pay for travel & lodging (at overinflated BD weekend rates) just to make BD the festival it is. If you feel it is worth a dollar, please donate to keep BD and annual event. Its time to take the fight to a new level, and really use the media spotlight to our benefit. We have 6 hours to tell what goes on, to tell how a festival that generates $25M in economic impact is carried on the backs of the people who make worth coming to. I'll bet TF would be tickled pink to have 450 jumpers come to town for a long weekend and spend all of their hard earned money there. TF would roll our the red carpet. The BDC, the NPS, and the Town of Fayeteville spits in our face.
  4. It never ends with these guys. I thought a jumper did get the land under the bridge? Even if we could rent the land it is far from being a useable LZ. Perhaps a better solution would be a floating LZ? We could assemble a flotilla of rafts and land on them, and then get shuttled to shore. AFAIK, (from kayaking experience) the river has open access as a navigable wateray. Even if it is not a workable solution it may provide leverage. It sounds like the BDC needs to step in and back us up. There is no way it costs the NPS an additional $18K for BD. Even at overtime rates a ranger making a max of $60k (they wish they made that) costs $350.00 a day. Are they seriously wanting us to beleive that it takes and additional 51 days of labor to run BD? The NPS are at NRG all of the time financed and paid for by US taxpayers. Whatever time they spend planning for BD is part of that job. If they need 5 extra rangers (for what? they just stand around) for the day that $1,750.00. What a bunch of BS. The BDC should pay these fees, not the folks who are the star attraction.
  5. In this case I would have to say that her parents must be breathing a sigh of relief, thinking, well at least she is not thinking of dating that guy. Way to keep up the intellectual and ethical standards you have become known for, dood.
  6. You've gotten a lot of advice here, however, I really think you do not understand the sport or the gear well enough to make an informed decision. You do not need a 330 or larger canopy, and a 350 is just rediculous. As someone has already pointed out canopies' and their performance do not scale in a linear fashion. At 84 jumps you should have the basics down and stand up nearly all of your landings. A gigantic canopy is not going to substitute for poor canopy skills. At your size you NEED to land well as even minor landing errors can cause things to break, twist, or snap. Big guys hit harder , and giant guys will be that much worse. If you are sure that you can't (or are too scared to try) land an air barge 288, you are in trouble. A 288 at 1.21 is incredibly docile, yet would have a very powerful flare. You are pushing all of the limits of gear in terms of your size. At your weight your belly speed is approaching freefly. All of your deployements are going to exceed what sport gear is rated for in terms of speed and weight. Now add to that poor skills and a healthy does of fear, and you are just asking for it. Learn to fly a canopy. Do not accept that you "land like crap". Trying to use gear to compensate for lack of skill is a very bad idea. BTW, I'm about 285 out the door, so I do have a little knowledge on this. My first canopy was a f-111 PD 230 that I got at jump 20. On that canopy I was loading higher than you on a 288. It was never difficult to land. Best of luck.
  7. Rounds are permitted. I reccomend a healthy delay though, or else.
  8. Funny Tom, I was just getting ready to reccomend a large base canopy when I scrolled down and saw your post. What he said.

    Cliff strike

*** "wall-strike-ulator" Funny you mention that. While out rock climbing recently we decided that it would be good practice to launch off the top with about 8' of slack to get used to the feel of a cliff strike. Funny, we had no takers. Guess we need to take some newbie basers climbing. "Oh yeah, we've all done this"

    Cliff strike

Glad you are alright. I snapped my rt tib/fib taking the impact with my legs on a much less severe strike. The thing I noticed from the video was that it looked like you had grabbed your risers really low on the riser. This may have been why you did not get the reaction you thought you would. Also, as DW said, if you are bracing for impact, go straight to pulling both risers down (as far as you can). I think that if you had grabbed way up on the risers and pulled them bot down to your shoulders you probably would have back away without strike. Just my 2 cents worth of monday morning quarterbacking. Anything you walked away from was right.
  11. Bolivia, you say? Hey Ray I did finish up my other Huck-It. This is the replacement for my P-pro. Now that I am actively building rigs for peopel I figured I should only jump my own gear.... unless my stuff is all unpacked and somone has an extra rig. This one is the Huck-It Mon'
  12. Hi Jaap, I may or may not be a better canopy pilot, but I definitly don't have your youth or light wingloading to intentionally chuck my toggles. In fact, its been some years since I even used the line mod. All that being said what you are doing is very valuable training that may one day keep you out of the ER. As Cypress Hill once said, "When the shit goes down, you better be ready". You seem ready to me, maybe even anxious for it.
  13. If you have ever wondered where rigs come from, here is my new rig in the embryonic stage. When rolls of cordura and parapak mate, this is the result. Huck It Mon'
  14. Hi Japp, I think the part you are missing is that landing on the rears is easy, when the control lines are still pulling the tail down. Pack your Sabre with the line mod and then toss your toggles and I will bet you that your rr landing is far from soft. Without the control lines pulling the tail down it will pretty much "flip up" when you flare with the rears (too hard). You have to be oh so gentle to do it and not have the tail flip up. When the tail does flip up it instantly, and I mean instantly, puts you flat on your back. The rr stroke with your toggles trailing can be described as tightly gripping the the risers, and rolling your hand forward, essentially just bending your wrist about 90 degrees. You have to do it quite low for the obvious reason that if you over input (easy to do in these situations) you land flat on your back. Not a good idea from say 10'. I have one landing this way. I set it down on the little beach at potatoland, flat on my back from about 3'. Got right up and wasn't even bruised, but would hat to have landed on rocks like that. I am a slacker and still have not built my idea of a line mod riser that allows you to reel your control line back in after you clear youy line over.
  15. I would say that it does not have a general use application. On anything over a few seconds in is in direct contact with the relative wind, and on anything over a few seconds most people pull in a track. Also, it would not work for those doing aerials and pulling mid rotation, and as you mentioned in would not work for wingsuits. When I read what Russell was wanting to do it come to mind becasue A. It would be easy to pull from a seated position. and B. It would eliminate worrying about a bridle and PC clearing the arm and back of the chair. BOC is proven and is in the right location for most applications. The ones where BOC isn't right, handheld usually takes over. This is just a very specific need that has a unigue (yet already designed) solution. Cya
  16. Don't tear up a perfectly good Sorcerer. I can make you a BOC pouch in 10 minutes, and you can sew it on in another 10. Just figure out the dimensions you want.
  17. Hi Russel, Simply move your BOC to your right riser cover, sort of like the reserve PC on a Sorcerer. That would position it perfectly for your pitch. If you need help building it let me know. I'm far away but would be glad to help out if you can't get somone else to do the mod. Have fun.
  18. I did my best to read this thing. What a load. I guess these Phd's have to blather on about something to justify their existence at a university. If not for a university teaching job guys like this would have to actually do work; like flipping burgers. Its amazing they spent so much time and energy on BD, as if its the Mecca that all base jumpers MUST come to ever year. I guess if you have enough time you can make anything seem like something. Can you just imagine a dozen of these guys (the writers) standing around discussing their work? Uggggh.
  19. Hey whats up TK? You have to quit using logic. There is no logic in ID and anyone who believes it is not subject to logic. Here's the real pickle, though, what if the world were a result of ID, but the designer was Allah? That would really cheese off the christian fundamentalists. The only thing I know for sure is that you will never convice anyone who believes in ID that evolution is reality. They "believe", and because of that, they believe. On the other hand, there are many (most) who understand that evolution is what has occured, but do not find that in conflict with their beliefs.

    BASE dytter

Its an interesting idea, but I wouldn't be caught dead with one (seriously, THAT would be embarrassing). I cant stand to even bother with helmets and such much less a new electronic gizmo. What I do see as the unintended consequences of such technology are low timers going into the basement waiting for their beep. Such and such said he takes a 11 off of this so I will set my Bitter (Base Dytter) for 10.5. OOOps, such and such can't count and doesn't bother becasue he or she has several hundred jumps and has the wherewithal to focus and pay attention to the task at hand. Splat-beep, or beep-splat. Seriously, it takes a lot of jumps for most people to be able to take the delay THEY intended. We all know that our right hand is in control of the jump and sometimes, especially when you are new(er), it just gets scared and pitches. THere you are under canopy at 4 when you planned on a 6, asking your right hand what it was thinking? Oh, I just got scared cause' I really didn't know where we were at. Bad Mr. Hand, but we lived to make another one... and I'll see you after the jump. I'm sure that there are some good technical uses for the Bitter, but for the sport as a whole I think it is a step in the wrong direction, a step further towards skydivingization. Cya.
  21. Not even in theory, but maybe actually guilty of the crime. For those who don't know the aerial delivery law was created to stop miners (squatters) from re-supplying via parachute, remote mining camps in Yoemite and other federal property. At the time no one was sport skydiving and BASE was many decades from its ibirth. Areial delivery has been bastardized to be able to charge jumpers who are A. Already in the park. B. Jumping themselves rather than using a parachute to send in supplies. C. Jumping off of something rather than out of a plane. It is a case where they just took a law against "A" and said that even though "B" didn't exist at the time of the writing it somehow included it.
  22. Yo Baxter, I need your contact info for BD staff. Your e-mail bounced. Drop me a line. markkissner@verizon.net Thanks, Tree
  23. Hey Enrique, I think you are getting a little confused. *** "You are a free Country but it is unthinkable to say the word "black" in public ... even if you are refering to the color of your vehicle, because there could be someone with darker skin around you and he might feel offended and bring the house down on you. Even a Mexican cartoon character is subject to scrutiny by the White House!!! " What you are talking about is political correctness. It has nothing to do with the freedom or Gov't, and everything to do with whinney liberals and too many lawyers. I tell you what, the US will trade Mexico 1 lawyer for 10 immigrants. That should balance things out.
  24. Actually I spent my honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, have been to TJ, and a couple other border towns. Outside the resort areas its not much to speak of. Even our run down neighborhoods in DC look much better than the average town in Mexico. Don't blame me. I didn't make it that way. It is merely a factual observation. We have the same view that all of the great empires of the world have fallen. What will be the downfall of the US? Possibly uncontrolled illegal immigration?
  25. *** "This coming from BASE jumper. Pretty good." Are BASE jumpers here illegally? Are all BASE jumps illegal?
