  1. Look here for all you need http://jumpshack.com/ I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  2. Tell her she reminders you of your Mother. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  3. Check out the Firebolt from JumpShack Easy openings, soft landings and you don't have to run out the landing unless you feel like running. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  4. Early 1970 over Darbydale Ohio, I had 20+ jumps. My 7TU had a line over, I immediately pulled the two pin silver handle on the chest mounted reserve container and the fluffy white 28 foot non steerable round canopy fell out before I had a chance to throw it. The open reserve released tension on the main and the line over slipped off, I had two fully open canopy's slowly turning in the wind like a scene from "The Gypsy Moths." That was my only tree landing. The Skygod's back at the DZ criticized me for not pulling in the reserve after the line over came off so I could steer clear of trees. By the end of the year I was jumping full time at Greene County Xenia Ohio. Had my second and third reserve rides there in 1971, both were cutaways. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  5. The Holiday Inn in Deland still offers big discounts for Skydivers. Suggest you call ahead. It's the only way to camp out, clean sheets, cable TV, Internet connection, bar and the all important room service. Oh yea, and a DZ close by. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  6. Three more Racers, then I'd have five. I could show up at West Point Virginia where there are NO packers for experenced jumpers and make five jumps then drive home happy. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  7. I take advantage of my Veterans discount every chance I get. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  8. Any updates on Dave's condition? I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  9. I used two pilot chutes on my Para Commander for a short while in the summer of 1971 in Xenia Ohio. Didn't take long to realize my opening time got slower and feeling both hitting the back of my helmet repeatedly was disconcerting. The experienced jumpers told me what would happen, but I had to do it my way. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  10. Betty probably doesn't look very dangerous to Homeland insecurity. See attached. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  11. Isn't there an annual get together for the 1970's Northern California jumpers organized by Ann Curtis? I got my WSCR at Pope Valley, always been proud of that. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  12. Coolidge Ghoul Sally Rogers died in Alaska at the end of August from cancer. I just heard this from Zing. Sally was one of the original Coolidge Arizona Ghouls in the 70's. She also jumped in Pope Valley and Elsinore California. She was hard core in the Golden Age of Skydiving when Jumping was a lifestyle and way of life. Last I heard about her she was living in Alaska and had adopted several children. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  13. There was another real low puller in that 1973-74-75 time frame in Florida. His first name was Glenn sort of a Redneck, his wife was a Real Cutie. The better he got at RW the lower he'd pull. He was warned continually to pull higher and that seemed to encourage him to keep pulling low and I mean "barely get your reserve out low". He got grounded for a while at Z-Hills and started going to Deland where he got warned about low pulls. By 1976 he wasn't jumping anymore. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  14. In September 1995 at West Point Virginia a Queen Air crashed after losing the right engine on take off. It could not climb. Their were no survivors. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  15. It's rumored one of the jumpers landed of the Fifty Yard line. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  16. Why did so many show such bad taste by trying to torment Jim Hooper at Z-Hills about one of his rules. And there were so few rules, I think about 10. They would point to his list of rules by the manifest in front of him and say something like "I don't care what your rules are, if I'm low I'm pulling". Now for a DZ with lots of rules go to Connecticut Parachutists Inc. in Ellington Connecticut. You'll hear them chant, "we got alot of rules, that's rule 63 and if you don't like it talk to Jim Mow-rey." I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  17. It was a great weekend, I liked the casual attitude at http://skydivedelmarva.com/ I recommend it if you think your DZ is getting a little too uptight, or maybe too much drama. And a HERD load is still a HERD load, that was one big cluster fuck. Everyone did land safely. Oh yea, Saturday night I had ALL the crabs and fish I could eat and didn't pay a dime. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  18. Thanks for the memories Pat I met Doc Fitch at Transpo 72 the worlds biggest air show. Doc was flying the Cessna we used to keep the crowd entertained between bigger shows like the Thunderbirdes and Blue Angels, Golden Knights too. He had so much to do with the beginning of Sport Parachuting. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

  20. And another thing. Jim Hooper's first wife was Jan Cooper---yes her name was COOPER. Don't know if the FBI ever interrogated her about a rainy night the day before thanksgiving 1971. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  21. I know Jim Hooper. I jumped with Jim Hooper. Jim Hooper is a friend of mine. I was a guest at his first wedding. After their divorce I hit on his ex, (never scored). Jim Hooper is a 5 time published (non fiction) author. Your no Jim Hooper. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

  23. We must get this thread back on subject and start bashing the DB Cooper nonsense posters. So many experts, so little knowledge or experience. Whoever Dan Cooper was, he landed in the Columbia River and drowned. That's what an FBI agent who was making static line jumps at Xenia Ohio told me in 1972. The DB Cooper subject belongs in the Bonfire or Speakers Corner Forum. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  24. It can't be worse then a Para Mount 5 cell. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
  25. Don (Fog) Fournier died in Duluth Minnesota from his second heart attack. He had been released early from Camp Fed after his first heart attack. They didn't want him to die in their custody. He was married with two children. Fog also had one child with a former girlfriend. Fog was a guest at Camp Fed for income tax. "They" could not convict him on any contraband issues, the jury didn't buy the evidence or testimony from their "rats". Just trying to keep it real. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
