    When I started jumping with the Columbus Skydivers Billy Cook didn't have his DZ anymore. The only other DZ around Columbus was in a place called Grist Mill started by Gene Taylor and someone named Steve. The DZ in Darbydale was on Norton Road, now there's a Fire Department and houses. I found concrete pieces of the club house foundation in the ditch by the road when I went back there in 1987. Google Earth shows more houses now and you can see what used to be the entrance to the DZ. When I was visiting Green County in Xenia Ohio in July 2007 Jim West told me the Columbus Skydivers had a reunion at his DZ in 2006. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

    From the USPA web site. According to a press release, The U.S. Army Golden Knights will perform a tandem jump on June 12 with the 41st President, George H. W. Bush, as he celebrates his 85th birthday. The event will take place in Kennebunkport, Maine, as family and friends gather to observe the former president's jump. Mr. Bush's first parachute jump took place during World War II. Since then, he has made several jumps with the Golden Knights. His most recent jump was in 2007. Robin Meade, anchor of HLN's "Morning Express with Robin Meade," will make her first tandem jump at the same time. CNN and HLN (formerly Headline News) will feature prominent coverage of the jumps.     Something was supposed to happen by now between Scum ride and Skydive Arizona? There was a suit then a counter suit and a judge in Arizona threw out Scum rides counter suit which was identical to the claims Scum ride made against USPA and the "lawyers" for USPA's insurance company capitulated.     From the USPA web site. Posted without permission There will be four world cups in 2009—three in the Czech Republic in September and one in South Africa in December. The eligible competitors to serve on the U.S. Teams for those events will be decided using the results of the 2008 USPA National Skydiving Championships—Canopy Piloting nationals in Longmont, Colorado, last August and the USPA Nationals in Eloy, Arizona, last October. One team of each in formation skydiving 4-way, 4-way female, 8-way, and vertical formation skydiving; two each of freefly and freestyle, and the top 12 in canopy piloting are eligible to serve. This is notice that those interested in representing the United States this year, or those with questions, should contact competition@uspa.org immediately.     The Pelicans Skydivers at the reunion were ME, Mike and Maureen Schultz, Johnny Crews and Sandy Amundsan, Billy Gifford, Betsy Miller and one other guy who looked familiar and a woman with him. There was no room for me at their table so I sat at Gene Paul Thacker's table. "I'm not a Pioneer in this sport but I jumped with the guys who are". I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

    I was in Transpo 72 (July 1972), it was the world's biggest air show. Both President Nixon and Vice President Agnew were there. The first half had the Navy Blue Angles the second half the Air Force Thunderbirds. The Army Golden Knights did shows all week. Military and Civilian aircraft were there from all over the world. Air Races too. Long hair Hippie relative work National Champion Skydivers were flown in from California for speed stare demonstrations. We jumped a Dehavlan Buffalo from Canada and a US Air Force C-130. I did 5 jumps from the C-130 including the 62 jumpers mass exit from a single aircraft, my first World Record in Skydiving. I also did many accuracy jumps for the crowd from a Cessna 182 flown by Doc. Fetch. All jumps were free. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
