ROFLMAO! I'm talking about the sharks that are known to be more docile like the Silky sharks etc. I would love to get in on a shark diving group. What better way to conquer your fears than to immerse yourself in them?

My condolences to the families of these students. We have also had 2 students die in the past 3 years. 3 years ago, a girl was coming down on final, was following all of the radio directions until about 500 feet then cut away and her reserve didn't have time to fully inflate and she died. Then recently we had a student, also on their final approach, pull a toggle to their chest and do a 500 degree turn into the ground. We thought possibly he had a heart attack and that is why he didn't respond to the directions to lift both hands, but the autopsy didn't confirm that. It is hard to say what can be done to keep these unfortunate accidents from happening. Tee

I find sharks facinating and terrifying at the same time. That is one thing I would love to do though is to dive with the sharks just to test myself (docile ones of coarse ). I can't wait....I am just waiting for the call to confirm my attendance on September 14-16!!!!

Wow Dove, I am glad to hear that you are okay (or as good as you can be). Even though we know we are in a dangerous sport, it is always saddening to hear of one of our "family" members getting hurt. Take care of you and get better soon!!! *hugz* Tee

Congrats Ben....you have just received a virtual pie in the face Tee

I agree that is the key element to getting whuffos to watch. The skydiving discipline has to be something that the whuffos can relate to so that it will stir the excitement in them and keep them watching. If you can't relate is some way, you may lose interest fast! Tee

I am sooooooo excited, I just have to tell everyone. My sweety bought me an early b-day present and gave it to me this weekend......SCUBA LESSONS!!!!!! With the open water training and everything. He is a SCUBA diver already, so this means we can now have SCUBA AND skydiving vacations!

We had this whuffo come to our dz shortly after the movie "Cutaway" came out. It was quite funny because he thought he knew everything about skydiving because he saw the movie. When you would try to talk with him he would constantly quote the movie and every second phrase was "yeah, like in Cutaway they....blah..blah." He hung around for probably 3-4 weekends, even slept over, then just never showed up again and never did a jump. Tee

Even when you do notice the colors while under canopy, it just never looks the same as in the pics. I'm always teased that I have an "Barbie" canopy and I never thought it looked too bad until I saw a pic of it.....have you ever eaten those Rocket popsicles (the ones that are blue-white-pink-white-blue-white-pink-white-blue)...yup...that's my canopy!!! Hush...I got it used! Tee

Yeah Carrie...we've missed you ....where have you been??

What an experience!!! I would pay $350 for that....and I'm a Canadian, so that is like....$1,000,000 cdn dollars! It certainly sounds like it could be one of th highlights of your trip, with the exception of meeting Pammi and the Sistah, but that's just a given! Tee

That reminds me of a time when 5 of us fell asleep on the way to altitude in the C-206. When we were all good and asleep, the pilot opened the window and yelled "DOOR!". What a way to wake up! Tee

LOL Too funny HH! My vote is 7th row down.....5th from the left. Tee

So True!!!! Winter jumps can be alot of fun. We jump here as long as it is not much colder than -10 C (approx 0 F). Talk about fun swoops on landing....a perfect time to learn to swoop too as the air is nice and dense and the snow is soft if you mess up! A full face is a must and even with good gloves, my hands still freeze while under canopy, but it is all worth it in the end.

This one was written more about flying in general, but it does have meaning to skydiving as well. He who has experienced the miracle of flight, will walk the earth with is eyes turned skywards, cause there he was and there he will ever be. By Galileo Galilei Tee

LOL It's all that typing you've been doing! Tee

I have pretty much killed my ability to ingest most liquor since I overdid it on almost every spirit known to man in my youth....and not just a few times! I LOVE wine...preferably red, but I will never turn down a white or rose either. But at heart I am definitely a vodka girl....body shot lemon drops anyone??? Tee

Hey Giang...you got a whole ton of boobie action in lost prairie this year....some out of a plane....in the bar....you rawk!

I jumped a Maverick for my first 40 jumps. It is a very forgiving canopy that is easy to land. Being that it is a 7 cell, it is comparable to a Spectre in alot of ways. I am glad that I had it for a first canopy.
-
I probably would have chopped it. It also depends on the wingloading of the canopy. When I was on student gear, I was under a 180 Maverick and I reached up to release the brakes and to my surprise, someone stowed the brakes wrong and they ended up tied in knotts. The canopy was in a slow turn to the left. I checked my ability to fly with the rear risers and I could, so I rode out the left turn until I was closer to the ground, hung a bit on the right to get straight again and landed it. If it was a higher wingloading though...it would have been chopped! Tee

On a lighter note, now he can proudly wear his t-shirt that reads..."No shit, there I was, enjoying my skydive when someone tried to shove a planet up my ass!" Tee

Merrick, we always hate to see when fellow jumpers get hurt, here's to a speedy recovery! *cheers* Just think, now you can come to the Lost Prairie boogie next year and take part in the "Heavy Metal" jump. This includes all of our fellow skydivers that have new metal additions! As for Pammi, I'm glad you didn't have to witness the accident. My dz is famous for thermals and down drafts and I was unlucky enough to witness my sweety carving it in on his 97 Stilleto and catch a down draft. Needless-to-say, he didn't pull out of it and bounced, did a 360, skipped again and finally landed. Those few seconds before he moved were the longest seconds of my life!!! He was lucky that he threw his legs to the side so he managed to walk away, but with a fractured vertebrae and a ton of bruises. It's hard to see anyone in an accident, but even worse when it is the one you love!!!

That pink butt can be found in Calgary, Canada. Yup...it belongs to me! Fruce is the man....we didn't feel a thing! Tee

Poor Merrick. Talk about a run of bad luck for our happy dz.com couple. Well, if there was free beer again at Quincy this year, this will free up Merricks time to taste test! Hope things are well Pam and Merrick!!!!!

OMG! Those pictures are almost surreal!
