Seriously. How do you people live in Ohio? Toledo to be specific. Its effing SNOWING! I'll fly around 2500 miles this week, one 5 hour delay, a cancelled flight to ATL, a rerouted flight to ATL (via Cincinnatti) which is now delayed an hour, 4 hotels, 2 rental cars, and more than one 100 dollar bar tab. maybe you should consider the number of lives he saved in Afganistan, and other unnamed middle easter countries as a combat controller. Or when he recieved a care package of Tootise roll pops, and gave them to the local children, or the aid he helped deliver in Pakistan after an earthquake, or assisting with evacuation of Katrina evacuees. Ummmm.... where did you see "free" in my post? I specifically mentioned USPA and $$, but not folks working for free. I said "willng mentors", but not "free". I realize that there a folks trying to scratch out a living jumping. Like you said elsewhere, the economics of the situations will work itself out. Realistically, it's already expensive to start this hobby, adding to that may even beging to scare away even those who have the means, but really safety always over money. Kinda like the episode of Family Guy, where Peter narrated his life out loud. You should have seen us at Neighbors on Wednsday. This chick (attractive) was sitting on this dude's lap with an ENTIRELY too short of a skirt. She did this facing our group. Our group made up of both women and men skydivers quickly realized she was wearing cream colored panties. Wasting no time we made comments and promptly started lauging entirely too loud. Woman gets up, returns to her seat, ONLY to return a few moments later and give us the ol' full shot again. Dude calls for the check, and she continues to show off her covered goods. Eventually she managed to cover herself, but by that time we were laughing so hard they just ignored us. good times. The more I look at it, and IMHO, every level of license, or rating should have some type of canopy requirement. Should we have to give the USPA another $25 for each one, hell no. Should we have some willing "mentor" to assist other with achieving those goals, yes. Our instructors should be the most highly trained individuals on the block, especially those that teach new jumper progression. I have met some top notch folks over the years, in fact I count myself lucky to have learned from those that I did. I dont consider myself to have much to offer when it comes to one-on-one education of others, but I did offer, to our DZO, for anyone who wanted, I would take a day or two and work with individuals on their landing patterns, and landings, with video, for free. I do the same when it comes to my freeflying. Ive had a lot of help over the past few years, and a little to no cost to me. I'm willing to give that back to help our sport be that much safer. And applause to those who are suggesting LO help with not only the freefall groups but the canopy groups also. "The Plan" doesnt end until you lay your gear down on the packing mat.
