friends yes.. but significant other? I have a very good relationship with my wife and sometimes tell her things that are well, difficult to hear. Im backing myself into a corner here, so Im gonna stop. Truthfullness if a key player in a healthy relationship, and trust. We have some key words that we have determined to have great significance if used during a conversaion. It all has to do with the different levels of seriousness that arise in out communication. I dont buy into that. Because the complete and uninhibited truth is many times more painful that just certain parts. You have to pick your words carfully. The worst is Woman: "Do I look fat in these pants"? What if she does? The truth could be painful for both... but a careful dance around it may allow both to be happy? Im rambling now, damn. the truth is a wild hairy animal... you must be careful when you let it out. I have been together with my wife for 8 years on and off (only married for one) and a fair number of our fights were where one of us said: "no really tell me". I belive that there is the truth and a thing really close enough to call truth that doesnt hurt as much. and truthfull we dont want to know. I dated a girl who's numbers exceeded my by a factor of 3(trust me a fair sized number) and while the physical nature of our relationship was... lets say... extracalafragelistic.... her past haunted me and was one of about 3 reasons I left her. My wife doesnt really know how many I have been with, and Im fine with believing Im her only one. The mystery is sometimes the greatest part(my opinion) The rest we leave unsaid cuz it would just get in the way... right?
