  1. Four times to be exact but each time I went home with the trophy. Sparky ... that's a tough way to get dates. It WAS his date. Well, I guess she had to do something when the pepper spray didn't work!
  2. You think she doesn't? Nope. * just enjoying the movie now *

  4. Yeah, judging by the crookedness of your nose alone... looks like you had "some fun" letting someone "smarten you up" 2 or 3 times!
  5. Really? Have you heard what Pelosi has said about gun control?
  6. So let it be written. So let it be done. Zig said: You read it correctly. If we're talking casual sex here, why should it be legislated the man be penalized in $$ for the next 18ish years? It takes two to tango. Why is it only the woman that has the say in whether the child gets put up for adoption? If she doesn't want to, again, why should the man then be forced to dole out $$? Why do such men have to dole out $$ to the mother of the child with no burden of proof from her that the $$ is going to the child and not into her "beer fund"? They obviously don't want to have anything to do with each other, they just wanted some sex and it didn't end up totally as planned, neither is chased. Zig said: OBTW, I agree with that most strongly. Of course, its the child that suffers in these cases, but what do you do? The more we try to do (laws), the more complicated it gets. My personal opinions on this differ greatly with what I think the laws should (or more correctly stated shouldn't be) on this topic. Here's the problem in these arguments, as I see it, we cannot legislate morality... in other words... we cannot pass laws to make people act responsibly, but we do pass laws to punish people who don't. Like all the "dead-beat dads" laws you hear about. Maybe the mothers in such situations should have their wages garnished too? Why to they get a pass because they're the one that had to carry the child in their womb for 9 months? Here we go...
  7. Sparky, you misspelled "skillz". Hey, when they get enough scar tissue they may smarten up, same as we did. Dude. Have you seen Sparky up close... in good light? Given the amount of scar tissue he's got, he must be real smart!
  8. DOH! Simple Green, of course, how could I forget!!?? Used to use that stuff to wash the King Air at Apple Valley.
  9. Its because those MORONS vote for the politicians that the promise higher minimum wages and bigger tax breaks for their illegitimate children. And when those children grow up, they do the same. Ever watch the movie Idiocracy? Where's it written down that the "minimum wage" should compensate unskilled labor enough to own a big house, big cars, big screen T.V., cell phone, high speed Internet and satellite T.V. and come with free health care? NO WHERE! Its just that the MORONS are out numbering us (they breed more) and are voting those politicians into office that promise them more hand-outs.
  10. Great... you're not helping me avoiding going out and buying an air compressor cause "I just gotta have one..." Anyway, I was hoping Mel would see / reply to this thread too. If not, maybe I'll shoot him a PM in a few days. Thanks!
  11. When you say that, is there any particular brand y'all recommend? Or do you just mean soap & water? Yeah, I'm kinda thinking not using a really harsh solvent would be best. I'm sure there's packings of some sort in the bearings in some of the parts and lord knows what they used in the 1920s and what a modern solvent would do to them. Yeah, I'm thinking I'll eventually have to make that part unless I get lucky and run across someone that has one or someone that has a similar machine for sale cheap that's too far gone to be more than parts.
  12. By "them" I mean the people. Generally speaking, I don't disagree with what you're saying. I just find it sad that for what ever reason the general populace in the U.S. would rather elect a government that "provides" the general welfare rather than "promotes" it. I do disagree that that "big business" and successful people that have amassed a large sum of wealth, like Bill Gates (or from the past) Howard Hughes, are inherently the "Boogeyman", but it suits the Democratic party's agenda for their constituency to think so. That somehow they've been jipped out their share of "free money" by the wealthy. It garners them votes, which gets them public office, which gets them power, which gets them control. Of course, the same can be said of both parties, one way or the other. You're right about the American Dream. Most folks today don't want to work for it. They want it handed to them.
  13. So I've got this old Singer 95-12 that I've been tinkering with trying to get working. According to the Singer Co., per its serial number, it was built in Elizabeth , NJ circa 1923. I think I've gotten it to the point where it may be worth putting on a table and seeing if (how well) it will sew. While doing research on the Internet on old Singer sewing machines, one thing I ran across was talk of being able to clean old, all metal, machines by submerging them in cleaning fluid (solvent ?). Does anyone around here have any experience with doing such a thing? What kind of cleaning fluid / solvent? Don't anyone suggest MEK because I'm not getting near that stuff and I'd guess it would take the paint off too! I've attached some photos here for your viewing pleasure. I also have a Singer 95-10 that sews just fine and is in somewhat similar condition, so part of me is leaning towards "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but thought I'd ask around here to see if anyone had any experience / input? ---- edit to add ---- If anyone knows where I can come by a presser foot lifting arm (p/n 52016) for an old Singer 95 series machine, please let me know. The one on the 95-12 I have is broken off, but fortunately, there's enough left to be work-able, just annoying. I suppose I could fabricate one, but haven't gotten that ambitious, yet.
  14. Sorry... Maybe y'all could set-up a web-cam in the garage so y'all can time-lapse the build and go back over it as needed. You could link it here to dropzone.com and let folks tune in and watch... the build... could call it "Nick & Nina Cam"!
  15. OBTW Lucky. I'm not sure how old you are or if you are or aren't a citizen of the U.S., I've cared not to keep track. But I'm in my 40s and I am a citizen of the U.S. My generation is going to take the hit for the previously largest social welfare program ever enacted in this country. Social Security. If you're in your 20s and live in the U.S., your generation is going to take the hit for the now biggest social welfare program ever enacted. Health Care. Those of you that voted for "Obama's Change", should be thinking about that one really hard. Hope you don't like the idea of keeping what y'all earn for you and yours, but would rather turn it over to the government to "redistribute" to those who can't be bothered to earn their own way.
  16. Lucky, However we feel about Regan, he's dead. Let's stop invoking "Reagan". Yeah, I kinda like "tax cuts", "fewer government hand-outs", "less government bureaucracy", "no amnesty for ILLEGAL immigrants", "fewer social welfare programs", "people standing on their own two feet", "I'm not particularly pro-abortion, but not so much so that I think it should be illegal" and much more politically. I also like guns, big boobs and big cars, but that's a different thread. Anyway, does all of the a fore jive with everything either party says and does? No. Do I know that? Yes. Just because I'm pro-Republican party doesn't mean I like everything they do or push. But I do think they're fucking up this country less than what the Democrats are. An emphatic, YES! Do I think this: A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. ... is a truism? A double emphatic YES! Do I think that's the way the U.S. has been going since the 60s? A triple emphatic YES! Do I expect you to disagree with and belittle me more... I expect nothing less.
  17. Control. Agree... sort of. To the constituency of the Democrats, no. They wouldn't be in control. To the leadership of the Democrats, yes. They're all over this because of the control they seek. They've passed forced "Health Care". Not sure what the order will be, but next will be things like "Imagration Reform" (read: amnisty) and "Gun Control", to garner them support and soldify the control they seek.
  18. You're right. To my chagrin, I agree with the article y'all linked. The Democratic party's constituency is growing. Why is it socialism looks so good to them?
  19. Gary, I've done this many times myself, but I'm not sure if I was ever specifically taught to. I remember many an argument over whether this was a good idea or not to teach students. The prevailing reason being we didn't want them panicking and cutting away a perfectly good canopy before actually being on the ground because it was windy. When I was a newb, I had seen other up jumpers do it. I learned at Cal City, heck, you learned to deal with winds or you didn't jump. Anyway, I guess asking them why they did that... after a load where maybe I got drug a bit, or sitting around drinking beers when it got TOO windy... I learned some of the finer points of this technique. Like disconnecting one's RSL (if you have one) and not cutting away until you're no-shit on the ground and not like "that guy" that thought he'd be cool landing in high winds and chop his canopy the instant he touched down, misjudged it and chopped at like 30'... two broken ankles... or so the story went. Dunno Gary, you didn't provide any additional information as to their experience or if you asked them why afterwards and what they had to say. So, all I can do is speculate that this for them was one of those experiences that may lead to wisdom on their part in the future. Personally, landing near a runway, windy or not, would cause me more worry about getting run over by an airplane and chopped up by that "spinny thing" most have on the front of them or wings.
  20. [sarcasm] Oh DB!! But haven't you heard!!! You may need to get stable after you cut-away and before launching your reserve and an RSL will prevent that and could cause you to DIE... blah... blah... blah... [/sarcasm] *rolls eyes*
  21. Some have that tallent ALL THE TIME, not just one day in April!
  22. No fenders... yet? What do you bikers call them... tins?
