Just quoting you because this is phenominal advice. What would you then think of an AFFI that smacks a student in freefall?
-
If you could buy a plane for your DZ......

http://surfspots-gps.com/sea-shepherds-steve-irwin-ship-impounded-in-shetland Conservation organisation’s flagship impounded in Shetland The flagship of an international conservation group faces being impounded or sold after a lawsuit was brought against them while they were in Shetland. Sea Shepherd’s boat, the Steve Irwin, was in Lerwick on its way to the Faeroes where it was planning to disrupt an annual whale hunt that sees around 1000 of the animals killed. A Malta-based fishing company, Fish and Fish Limited, has taken legal action against Sea Shepherd. The action is in relation to damage they allege was done to bluefin tuna fishing gear by Sea Shepherd in the Mediterranean last year. The organisation says it now must raise a bond of almost $1.5m or the ship will be held indefinitely and possibly sold. They are now calling on supporters to raise the funds that will allow them to take to the sea again. The founder of Sea Shepherd, Captain Paul Watson, was at the helm of their ship during its visit to Shetland. He said: “The Steve Irwin was detained in the Scottish Shetland Islands by the British courts due to a civil lawsuit brought against us by Maltese fishing company, Fish and Fish Limited. They are claiming damages for the bluefin tuna we rescued from their nets in June 2010, fish that we believe were illegally caught after the season has closed, without an inspector onboard, or any paperwork documenting the legality of their catch. “We have a legal firm representing us, and believe we have the necessary evidence to support our case. This lawsuit will also give us the opportunity to expose what we allege to be illegal activities by Fish and Fish and we will be aggressively defending the case on this basis.” With the ship being detained and with its future uncertain, the organisation faces difficulty in continuing its work. Paul Watson said: “It could prevent us from reaching the Faeroe Islands to protect pilot whales and threaten our ability to defend whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary from the Japanese whaling fleet this December.” The Steve Irwin was in Lerwick on its way to the Faeroe Isles to take action against the annual slaughter of pilot whales. The crew were planning to use “aggressive non-violence” to disrupt the killings and was to be accompanied by a second vessel from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation. The ships were planning to use underwater acoustic devices positioned between the migrating whales and the islands to steer them away from the fishermen. Sea Shepherd describes itself as “an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization.” They say “Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.” “Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. “By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.” The boat at the centre of the legal row was named after the Australian conservationist who died in 2006. It is used by the organisation in their direct action campaigns against whaling. Previous to it being used by Sea Shepherd it served as a fisheries protection vessel in Scotland. It featured in a reality TV show Whale Wars, where the ship and its crew attempted to disrupt Japanese ships engaged in hunting whales. By John Kilbride

Yes, I think an ion powered craft can reach ludicrous speed if given enough time and solar energy.
-
Yeah, I thought this thread was going to be about normiss and mama getting hitched!
-
If you have to meet in the middle, a twelve-pack of the good-high-octane stuff is the better choice rather than a case of stuff no one will drink It's too bad the last shuttle wasn't visible, though I believe that is the only kind Normiss will purchase Now if Skymama went to the store for beer.........on nevermind that ain't gonna happen wait... Wait... WAIT!!! Hold the load!!! mama don't buy beer?!!!!??!!!! What is she... some sort of... communist!!!??

Chucked a pilot chute going through 1200ft once "back in the day" when I was a low time jumper after fucking up the break-off & track from a 5-way dancing spider. I didn't have a Cypres back then, they were around, but all jumpers off of student status back then didn't yet feel the need to have one... there's a reason we called em "the fatal forties" back then... If I had had a Cypres, I'm sure it would have been a 2-out situation for me as I got sadled around 700ft. Can still remember Celaya getting on my case (rightfully so) when I walked back into the hangar. I once too took 15sec off a balloon a bit over 3K at AV once. Did have a Cypres then. Got saddled a RCH around (below) a grand. Still don't know how I beat Mr. Cypres on that one. Sparky still gives me grief about that one. Another time at Cal City, Celaya, Cher and I pulled a three way round off at 3.5 - 4ish after putting a full load of static line students out, snapped a 360, re-docked, smiled and left. I got concerned when I saw Bob dump before me... I didn't much pull out of the track before I tossed my PC... Cher kept going, waived off and pulled. After the jump I asked her why she waved off? She said so we knew she was about to pull... I pointed out that there was no one down there with her! Gravity doesn't care how many jumps you have, but I'm sure glad I lived through some of that stupid shit. -
I was listening to the Mark and Brian show this morning before work and Brian was still talking about skydiving out at Cal City, drinking beers afterwards and going out into the desert to shoot guns... Geeze, its been what? 20ish years since the Above and Below Show?
-
Wouldn't matter, we already read it. But... but... but it shouldn't count if I was drinking Tequila when posting!!!!
-
... can I redact my previous statement now that it is morning?
-
Nah! Just high heels and a smile, mama.

Yes, that gag where Troy set his canopy on fire was done out over the desert at Cal City... a few remaining bits of flaming nylon, if there were any left by the time it reached the ground could have been the least of your worries... as many an odd thing... besides skydivers... got chucked out of the Otter there over the years... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4no8DtXUOY

... and the DDT guy used to come around and fog for mosquitoes!
