  1. No, I think you're wrong. Some people don't learn from shock value... some people do. A little while ago. Got pulled over, long story, but came really really really close to going to jail... I'll still drink, for example, if at home or if there's a designated driver or at someplace where I'm staying & not driving that evening (hotel, friend's house)... but if I'm getting behind the wheel of a car soon, its zero alcohol intake for me now... no more of this "I can have a few, I can handle it BS"... scared straight worked for me. Unfortunately, I think you're correct to an extent, but a "nothing can be done about it" attitude certainly won't help either. Believe me or not... I have see The Bounce Book shown to some habitual low pullers or Jumpmasters developing the bad habbit of chasing out of control students way below 2K stop them from doing it and/or make habbit changes to not get there. It may not save everyone, but if it saves some, that's a good thing. JMO.
  2. I don't know what you've heard about the one in Vegas... so maybe you've got some better gouge them me... but I've heard that the one in Vegas is more of a "ride", where as the ones at say Perris or Eloy are more about teaching skills useful to skydivers. However, having said that, there's certainly more different stuff to do in Vegas when not in the tunnel then say at Eloy or Perris. That could be a good thing... ... or a bad thing... ... decissions decissions... good luck... have fun.
  3. Best I ever did on a Cessna only DZ was 11 jumps in one day, but 10 of them were Night Jumps.

  7. If the Spectra kill-line on her pilot chute has "shrunk" enough to where it should be replaced... the rest of the pilot chute may be showing wear which could mean its time to be replaced altogether. Look at the point where the the kill-line enters the bridle, inside the d-bag and also look at the apex lines (tape) inside the pilot chute itself. These are two points I've seen wear on kill-line style pilot chutes that have caused me to just repalce mine when it gets to the point where the kill-line itself has worn / shrunk.

  11. Single Operating System... one handle, usually on the left side of the rig... pull it, an it both cuts-away the main and deploys the reserve.
  12. Why did you feel it necessary for the V1 and V2 you mention be reharnessed at only apx 500 jumps? The reason I ask is... I'd venture to say / guess that a precautionary reharness at only 500 jumps is way way way consevative... or was there some sort of "wear", which, at only 500 jumps seems more "not normal"... I'm currious... ... same goes for the Jav with about 1100 jumps you mention ... I wouldn't expect a Jav with that number of jumps to have excessive harness wear under normal use / care... again, I'm currious. Any pictures??? There's folks out there that do 1000 jumps in a year... or 1000+ jumps within 2 years, easy... are you saying if they've done that all on the same rig... their harness is ragged out... I'm sure it might be, depending on what's going on, but are you saying it is... I'm confused...
  13. ... maybe if we bagged the 210 and then parked a car on it over night, we could get it into a J3... with the help of a positive tension device too... Hey! Don't laugh... I know people who have done that....
  14. # of Rigs I own = 3 Reasons I've replaced #1 & #2... Rig #1, a Vector 2, back in 94, was stolen from me when it had something like 100 - 200 jumps on it... (I still own it, I just don't know where it is) ... ergo, I bought Rig #2, a 94 Talon. Rig #2, a 94 Talon has something like 2000+ jumps on it... I still have my 94 Talon and jump it occassionally, but it went to "back-up rig status" when I purchased Rig #3, a Javelin J3K in 2003. Rig #3... my J3K... now has something like 600 jumps on it. Sooo... for me... I've replaced 1 rig because of theft... and one other rig because it had, say, 2000 jumps on it.
  15. ... if you try it, please have someone video it and post it... the parts I'd like to see are... 1) trying to get a 210 in to a J3 D-Bag... and... 2) trying to close the containter... ... I'm not saying either can't be done nor am I saying either should or shouldn't, I'm just implying it will be entertaining to watch... In all seriousness now... don't know the nature of your injury / not a lot of info in your original post along those lines, but its probably not important... but think about this, "You've got the rest of your life to BASE jump, why not heal-up somemore before getting back on the Bridge... Aerial... Span... or Earth... errr... Cliff... errr... Rock... errr... Bluf?"
  16. What is on the other side of the coin? A friend of mine got a premature opening during a freefly jump, because wrong kind of spandex was used for the BOC packet and the wind has blown his PC out. Result? Out of sequence deployment, cut-away, reserve ride. Of course not all the spandex BOC are the same hmmmm... maybe rip-cords and spring-loaded main pilot chutes would be most freefly-friendly for y'all... ---- Anyway... what Mr. Booth said... Word.
  17. D'oh what i meant to write was I like the Cordura BOC as it does not need replacing. et all... hey, pro's & con's & opinions to everything... ... but the trade-off of a Cordura BOC vs. a Spandex one as I recall was that a Spandex BOC was less likely to exasperate a hard pull / impossible pull if the pilot chute somehow monkey-fisted itself in the pouch as you tried to pull it out... not to say that this cannot happen with a Spandex BOC pouch, but that a Spandex BOC pouch would be "more forgiving"... anyway, that's the theory of the pro's & con's to that as I recall... ... just something to think about.
  18. Anyone talk to the group that started screaming "GO"??
  19. Midget... short notice... Ah! You funny guy rapter... I like you... I kill you last.
  20. Yeah, I remember when Shawn Stahl was getting ready to leave the DZ and go away to college... we hit him with 2 Whipped Cream Pies, 2 Mayonayse pies and threw him in the pool TWICE... before he wised up and walked around the DZ with his dad's rig over his shoulders for the rest of the day...
  21. A bunch of us are going to Eloy (or Elloy as on of my buddies whuffo wife calls it) between Christmas and New Years.
