You can knock me over with a feather when I really start to think it's ONLY been 100 years of flight. Within 44 years we broke the sound barrier. Within 66 years we landed on the moon. Within 67 years I was born. Within 95 years I got to fly on a World Record Skydive. And in 99 years I got to do it again. Life is good. Yah, they had the Wright Stuff to start all this. How fast is skydiving growing as a sport?
diverdriver replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Since I have an unfair advantage I'll let others try and answer where, when, and how big the first event that later became the WFFC was. I think in the past 5 years the growth of the sport has seriously slowed. It exploded in growth during the early to mid 90s. I don't have specific numbers though. I don't find this funny at all. I run a forum for pilots apart from diverdriver.com and I had one participant who insisted on posting crap like this. Even though he didn't create it....I banned him after several warnings. I don't have that power here but I can voice my opinion that I don't find this funny at all.

Same here. The registration fee is a rip off to those that don't drink beer. And they didn't even do prize give aways for those that pre-registered in 2003. I have no choice but to pay the fee since i wanna be at the convention though. As has been said many times in the last few months, skydiving is starting to become all about the money....people wanting to make a few more $$$ If there was a lot of money to be made in skydiving I would not have become an airline pilot. Look around you. You see a lot of people working at a DZ driving Lexuses? I don't think they are asking too much here. Creating a DZ for 10 days every year doesn't come cheap. And Rantoul is supposed to just bite the cost for infrastructure and extra security? Seems like they are just trying to cover their costs. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

That is excellent news. I thought it would do well there. Now it's up to us to make sure the city feels that their welcome matt is not being trampled on.

First rule of not getting cold on the cold days is don't get cold. Thus concludes DDs axioms for today.

Legality in jumping Ultralights
diverdriver replied to PhreeZone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yah, but now you are involving another person in your activity that might not understand all the legalities involved and open themselves up to problems they didn't expect to have just so YOU can have a thrill. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
Exactly my point. Service costs.

I'm quite relaxed.

So it's their fault they didn't speak english in a foreign country. Ok. Sorry, just don't agree that a call to the airline will yield much for you.
-
When you asked for help what did they say? Did they direct you towards a hotel directory or did they just say go away? Did you go to a customer service counter or just they gate counter? There can be a difference.

Airlines fly people from point A to point B and back to point A some times. I do not see how airlines are responsible for putting you in a hotel. You chose to go there. It is your personal responsibility to take care of yourself otherwise. Sorry. I see this day after day. People blame the airlines for everything under the sun. And they continue to expect tickets cheaper and cheaper. Well, you get what you pay for. On whole, people are not paying what it actually costs to travel across this country and points further.
