  1. Aww...thanks. When I get more time I will post some more of the beaches and scenery. It was beautiful down there. At this pace there won't be anymore kittens left!
  2. If you call AA customer service number they may have some suggestions on where you can meet a wheelchair if you can't bring her to the curb like normal. During these times they are usually accomodating but definitely call ahead. I'm sure you thought of that already though. So, nothing new here. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  3. Ummm....looks pretty warm right there actually in that nice facility! [shameless plug]
  4. Lemme clarify. Aircraft with horizontal stabilizers and elevators higher than the prop wash and or especially if they sit about 10 to 15 degrees higher than the main wing, tend to have less effectiveness at slow airspeeds than those directly in line with the prop wash. Especially if the main wing is at such a distance and angle during slow flight as to aerodynamically blank out the horizontal stabilizer and elevator. This can be especially awkward during slow flight and landings. If I were to design a general purpose utility aircraft for unimproved airstrips, especially if it where a single prop aircraft where I could take advantage of certain inherent handling characteristics, I'd put a conventional tail on it. I think I'd go and design a Twin Otter. Dropping jumpers WAS one of the original design aspects of that plane. They even designed a slick flolding door that was electrically actuated. It could be closed again inflight. Pretty slick. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  5. I didn't post this in incidents but after reading that article all I have to say is....fuck. That sucks. I know those PJs probably. I used to fly them when I flew at Monterey Bay. I know they did their best in difficult conditions. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  6. Twin Otter is not a T-tail and it's a hell of a lot better position than a King Air or Caravan or seemingly this PAC 750. T-tails don't have less effectiveness unless they are left in the same design. Yes, it's trade offs. The F-90 King Air would be a much better option for a small king air. And they are very expensive too. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  7. I did. I left that op and went to SDC. 11 months after I left they had a fatal plane crash that killed 5 friends. I feel somewhat responsible because I didn't stay and watch over them. But that's a whole nuther thread. Tunaplanet...I'm done responding to you because you are obviously a troll. If you argued for teachers to have higher pay and left it at that I'd pick up that banner (and do in other conversations). You seem to think that you can only increase teachers pay by bringing down pilot pay. Whatever...but then again, from reading your other posts....you're just a troll.
  8. Merry Christmas to you all too! Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  9. Yah, I'm biased. I was there when I save 4 lives (5 with mine) after my engine failed on takeoff in a 206. I was there when I saved 5 lives (including mine) when the engine of a 182 failed on takeoff. I was there when I saved the lives of 5 people when the engine of another 182 failed at 400 feet. I had 2 other engine failures in twin engine aircraft with more than 50 people total on board. Yah, pilots don't have do ANYTHING right or under pressure. You're right. WHAT was I thinking? 10. Did I ever say teachers were not paid enough? Where did that come from? I believe people should be paid what the job is worth. My perspective....I did my residency for 10 years to "build time" flying people around for squat. Now it's time to pay me what it's really worth. Out of college a teacher makes more money than most pilots will for the next decade. So, the teacher actually has the better deal because the money they save is compounded. The pilot must make more money all at once to make up for the missed investment opportunity. Now, granted, in the end, many major airline pilots will earn more than most teachers. But that does not diminish the job that airline pilots do. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  11. LOL.......umm...Aggie could hand my non-existant ass to me fairly quickly. No fight here. He just reposted what someone else wrote. Oh yah....and F'N BS!
  12. F'n BS......fully automated? F'n BS. If it was automated I wouldn't have to type anything in and then make sure it did exactly what I told it to do. And then, click the autopilot off in the last 1,000 feet, "warm up" and make a smooth landing. That's not easy. Oh, and I hand flew to 29K today just because I can. Fully automated? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........ that's all I have to say about that.
  13. Or you could appreciate your family while you have them. One day, they may not be around.
  14. Purpose built? If it was purpose built it would not have a horizontal tail in the direct line of fire from a premature deployment. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  15. Sounds like very situational position. As a matter, I have had pilots with more hours than me come for advice on flying skydivers. I guess some people can deal, and some can't. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  16. For those that don't know....Apparently a company in England was testing a windshield based on this test. But they kept shattering the windows. The engineers were stumped as to their calculations of the windows strength. They repeated the test several times with the windows shattering each time. They called the test facility where they coppied it from and and asked for some quidance. The group in England were told to recount everything they did to set up the test. They got to the part about loading the chickens and said "and we loaded the frozen chickens....". There was laughter heard in the background and then the Canadian group came back with "You're not supposed to have frozen chickens!" By the way, each window they tested was worth about 50K USD or more. Ouch! Expensive mistake. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  17. Maybe the cost of their f'n CDs is to blame for their dropping sales! Sheeesh....I hardly buy anything anymore. 20 bucks a crack! Do they know how many jumps I can get for the price of just 5 CDs?!!! Idiots!!!
  18. LOL.....that's a good one! Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  19. Yes! Definitely! I realised a while ago that the hardest thing to learn in skydiving is anything you have to learn from someone with less experience than you. I've seen 4000, 5000, 6000, & 7000+ jump wonders, who cannot learn to freefly unless they learn it from someone who has more jumps than them. It's kind of sad, really. Not to many coaches out there with that much experience, but plenty with less, and a lot to teach. I hope I never become like that. You know, it might not be jump numbers getting in the way of instructing. It might be the instructor not being able to relate to the student who has more jumps than they do. That, and the neon blue hair and endless piercings might also be a distraction to professional instruction. Message sent is not always message recieved and a good instructor will be able to adjust to help the student learn. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
