BS quibbling? Someone who makes little to begin with might just need that 520 bucks for their kid to have clothes, food, and school books. And we are talking about California which has one of the highest cost of living rates in the US. So, just looking at a grocery store clerk making 15 bucks an hour and saying they are over paid is not right. What does it cost to live in that community? It just might be that they are still barely making it because of the area they are living in. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

That clears up a lot Buzz. Thanks. -
Amen to that. Speaking as an elected union rep I can say it is no fun doing this job. I did it for the benefit of the people I represent and feel it is a matter of service. I got no pay for it. In fact, I shelled out more than it ever gave back to me. I've done my term and it will end in February. I have done many good things for the pilots I represent in terms of talking with the company when the contract was violated and I feel that my work in recent concessionary talks protected the futures of many at my company. Not all unions want more and more but they do want what is fair market for their workers and many times they don't even get that. While higher ups sick in luxury the grunt workers may barely get by. It is our right to organize in a stronger collection. The management team is a union in itself. It is a big group and the individual can be squashed rather easily without representation and a system for recourse. I will never cross a picket line. all the courses are a member benefit NOT a group member benefit. This is and always has been bullshit. If a DZ has more qualified people to jump with students they can do more students in a day. This is an increase in revenue and IS a benefit to the DZ. So it is both a individual member benefit and a DZ benefit. If USPA chooses to limit cert courses to GM DZs only then that's their right. You as an individual member have the right to attend a course. It does not say it has to be at the DZ of your choosing. And, this motion put forth by the GM Committee that keeps being touted here no one has answered my question. Did the FULL BOD not vote on this motion to make it so? If the full BOD did vote on it, regardless of what committee it came out of, then I don't support letter writing to get the fee waived. The Safety and Training Committee could have protested the actions right then and there. It does not seem that they did. So, by their inaction they are going along with the idea that the GM Committee has the right to set course fees for non-GM DZs to hold cert courses. When I got my IAD JM rating I had to travel to another DZ. Don't see me crying about it. When we had AFF cert courses at SDC people traveled from all over to be at it. People don't seem to have trouble traveling to get the rating they want. Or, you have several options to holding the course at your DZ. Pay the course fee for non-GM DZ or become a GM DZ and actually save on the course fee (difference between non-GM DZ fee and GM initial fee). Space Carrot One?? Anyone remember that story?

You can prove negligence in just about anything. Juries are awarding people money for their own stupidity on a regular basis. So, you need to include negiligence in your waiver. "Malice"? I would agree. That might be worthy of a suit. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Huh...some people's children.

Right, because no A&P has ever messed up and forgotten to fasten the cowling back on an RJ which then fell off on landing at O'Hare. Yep, it's all the pilot and ground ops fault. Me thinks I remember a 747 being taxied by some fast thinking A&Ps who forgot to start the correct engines that had the hydraulic pumps on them and they had no brakes. Ran it right into a ditch. Yep. It's all the pilots and ground ops. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Nice short clip of a BASE exhibition/competition in China. Well, that's what they said. Don't know if they got it right. Said the typical wuffo stuff about being crazy but it was actually nice exposure. They were awed by the guy doing a handstand launch from the platform.
