  1. No, it's a good part of the poll. I'm just saying that it is not normal to have 20 friends die due to sudden deceleration trauma and another 20+ in aircraft accidents in 8.5 years. The human psyche can only take so much. To those that think sucking it up is the only response then they have most likely become jaded and don't want to deal with their own hurt anymore. Yes, you grieve and then move forward. I guess I just take "sucking it up" a little different than you intended. My apologies.
  2. I know only what you guys have read. I haven't heard of this conversion. It's all money folks. You can make anything go faster given enough money. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  3. To those that voted "that's life suck it up" I say this: What are we trying to prove with skydiving? Are we bettering society because we sport jump? Are we a big testbed for the military or something? What is it? You tell yourself to suck it up over and over and you will realize you are numb and have no heart left. You will talk dispassionately about accidents like you talk about brushing your teeth. Don't lose yourself. You won't like it later. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  4. Poor training for Congress? Well we better get Kerry, McCain, and many others out of there then. But they seem to do alright there. First, I am not saying I'm voting for Clark. I am actually undecided. I like Clark. I've heard him speak several times. And it seems when he has tough questions thrown at him he does not duck. He answered these questions straight forward whether you like his answers or not. I think that is what I look for in a candidate among other things. Yes, he can't run it like the military. But, I think our major problem right now is foreign policy and that's what the president is for. The economy has little to do the White House in my book. Some....not everything. I think we need someone that can plan a good exit strategy from Iraq and I think he can do it. And I think he will be able to build coalitions for the continued fight on terrorism even with all the crap Bush has brought on us. I like Kerry. I like Clark. Maybe a Kerry/Clark ticket wouldn't be so bad. The others are off their rocker though. That's just a rough run down on some things I like about Clark. It's not all I think about the candidates. My fingers just don't want to type it all out. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  5. A friend once told me that he had lost more to skydiving than it would ever give him. I tend to agree. But then I do think about the cool things I've seen. Personal growth. People's ability to overcome fear and experience something new. Coaching people, taking them on their first jump, is something that is truly unique. Getting to jump with a newbie for their first 100 jumps and teach them something. To encourage them to do better and then encourage them to not be so tough on themself for not flying like Peter Pan. It's all part of it. Skydiving has allowed me to see things few humans ever get to see. I don't know what kind of person I would be without having had those experiences. Soooo....I dunno. 9. Yah, the local wineries can be great! There was one in Helen, GA that is great. Bought several bottles of red and white wine there.
  10. Since this will probably get moved....sorry for your loss.
  11. Where have you found the others in the US?
  12. Headache? Hmmmm...I'll tell yah tomorrow. I couldn't find my favorite Kendal-Jackson. So I gave this a try. Waiting for the chicken to get done.
  13. ....a good Riesling? Drinking Beringer.
  14. I actually saw nothing in there that would prevent me from voting for Clark for President. It seems that he has been reflective on events of the past. War is an imprecise business no matter what anyone thinks. If he is reflective on when and how military force should be used that's pretty good in my book.
  15. You know I can't see or hear that word with out thinking of Hanibal Lecter.
  16. So is this saying it's time to put up or shut up on "self policing"? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  17. I agree, both parties have a vested responsibility, my apologies if I implied otherwise. However, getting back to the reason I brought this up. Chris had an experience where the Col. in question seemed to feel that the aircrew (pilot) of a HERC was responsible for their landing off. If anything, he(Col.) should of also placed some of the blame on the Jumpmaster as well for he is the one who gave the jumpers the command to exit the A/C. Well, the actual original point was that Scott claimed that only military jumpers knew how to actually spot and that's not true. I actually do look at winds aloft and mentally go over freefall drift, canopy winds, canopy type penetration, obstacle clearance, traffic clearance and cutaway potential. This is what I teach to pilots I check out. But it's not as simple as just picking one spot. It's actually a whole line that I have to be aware of and THAT is NEVER taught in spotting a 182. That can only be learned by doing it for real in a Twin Otter, Skyvan, Casa. 20+ jumpers all doing 2 ways. See how far one spot over the ground gets yah. Not far. 18. The Skydive Chicago crew is in Ixtapa if you want to jump a twin otter and do a tandem. They're landing on the beach. Not sure how far Ixtapa is from you though. And not sure if I'm sp this right but Cualta (sp?) is where the other Skydive Chicago otter is until the Boogie at Ixtapa. Might look that up also.
