  1. This logic would inhibit a misfire possibly say during a hook turn. Not that hook turns were prevelent during the design and development period of the early Cypres.
  2. That was me. Poor Frank had the pilot chute spring go off the side of his face. The guy at the tailgate tried to catch it but missed. The Reflex Catapult second pilot chute came out and inflated. It provided a second large target which they grabbed and hauled in while Frank jumped on me in back of the truck. So yes, it was another Catapult save.
  3. Sunshine, was it my misfire that you saw? During the record attempts 2000? Yah, I was sitting right next to the CB radio antenae in the back window and the driver keyed the mike to talk and POP!.....Even had the grey sleeve on the control unit to protect against that. I know it isn't fool proof but it sure made me go hmmmmm. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  4. I still like the falling through rainbow explanation. Cuz there might be a pot of gold down dar laddy!
  5. Blue Skies = may your days be bright and sunny so you can go skydiving. Black death = if you have to go in I hope you are unconscious and don't see it coming.
  6. "Glory"......that's it. Man I was racking my brain trying to think of that. Chris
  7. Happens all the time to me. If the sun is just right, usually high in the sky, you will see this "rainbow". If you are close enough to the water vapor (cloud or mist) then you will even see your own shadow. What causes this is the same thing that causes a rainbow you see from the ground. Light refracting off the water vapor to your eyes position. Chris Schindler edited to add: So yes! You did fall through the center of a rainbow. Got any skittles?
  8. Yah, it's when you lose that paranoia that it happens. Not 50 jumps out.....but maybe that 500th jump out. Not saying that happened here. But it can be a cause of extremely hard openings. The times I've seen it happen the person was unable to jump again that day due to nose bleeds or whiplash. I asked if they collapsed their slider and they couldn't remember if they had done it that jump or not. So no way to prove the theory or not but it keeps it in mind. Chris Schindler
  9. Butt, butt.....butt....we love the ass update. Well, not really. Never heard of the ass update till now. Just thought I had to write some witty pun. Ok, I'm done. Hey, and I rhyme too!
  10. If you wanted Bodypilot only to read it why didn't you just PM him with it?
  11. This might be better posted in Safety and Training since there doesn't seem to be a particular Incident.
  12. That term really does have a derogatory meaning to it, and many find it quite insulting. RW or FS, with Formation Skydivers/ing being the best. -- "Be the bannana!"
  13. And remember that the proceeds from this event go to Make-A-Wish foundation to help terminally ill children achieve a dream. Last year was a great start. We hope to make this year even bigger and help out as much as possible. Chris Schindler
  14. DOH!....my signature is longer than my post!.....DOH! Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

  16. It's the pilot thing right? I can see it now... DD: Chicago approach, DD at 13.5 directly over the airport, requesting landing clearance. Approach: DD sky is clear between you and the ground, begin vertical approach DD to Cabin: OK folks, hang on, I saw this in a movie once... LOL....bwahahahhaha......you saw my last approach into O'Scare didn't you? Slam dunker from 7,000 feet 5 miles from the airport in the jet is not as easy as 14 grand over the airport with an otter. But that's enough talk about me. Let's read quotes from me in Parachutist. LOL......
  17. Better yet......I'll give you extra altitude.
  18. umm......do you use spell check too? pssst....it's "mine" not "my".........LOL......... I'd like to thank my grade school teachers who said that I should learn to talk more and come out of my shell. I appreciate this award.......(pspspsppsppspssppspsps).......what do you mean I didn't get an award? I was quoted in Parachutist! Don't you know who I am?!!!!!!! THE ONE, THE ONLY DiverDriver boy.....this inflated ego feels pretty good.......
  19. Dude, Aggie, Galoot, a wise man once told me when you post advice or try to help you gotta have a thick skin. No matter how right you really are (not how right you think you are) they will still attack you. Yah just gotta be ready for it. I'm going through it right now with my airline. We just had to negotiate a concessionary contract in order to save our jobs. But many pilots are refusing to face reality and have said they will vote no. Despite the best work of our elected officials in the union they don't want to believe. And they are attacking me and many other good people. We just have to go forward. That's all we can do. 20. Duuuuuuuuuude! Listen to Q. PANTY RAID!!!!!
  21. JE, I think you are reading too much into this example. No one would actually be jumping during a real Microburst condition. At least I hope they wouldn't. We're talking about downdrafts that hit the ground and spread out (splash out). This can happen by different causes like Bill said. And there is no such thing as centrifugal force. It is a myth. It is only used to describe what we feel but not a true force. Centripital force is the true force. Now what was your question again? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
