  1. I hate you both. Hey, you're the one who started this thread. Can't go gettin' sulky now.
  2. Oh, it is so ON NOW! Listen young lady. If you had read the thread about the GKs at SDC you would have seen a link to a video posted. And yes, I'M ON IT! And I'm like not flailing and stuff while one of our fearless ARMY representatives lost his way and needed a beacon of hope to guide him to the formation. LOL.....oh man that was funny. He took it well every time we replayed it and replayed it.....and.... Oh and I wanted to freefly but I couldn't afford the camera. And I really don't know how you can consider tumbling uncontrollably until pull altitude as real skydiving! Bwahahhahahahahha
  3. [Raises parascope to survey surroundings] [Loud speaker] You do know that I hope to go to the boogie this time, right? [kkkrrrrccckkk]
  4. [DD pokes head up out of Flame Proof Enclosement to throw another grenade........ducks quickly] Yah, well anyone who was anyone was at the WORLD RECORD 300-WAY two weeks prior at Eloy. SO [hick voice] Maaa!! Get the water hose and balloons! There's gonna be a water fight!
  5. 2nd Annual? When was the first annual? [Donald Sutherland Dirty Dozen voice] Never heard of it..... [runs for flame proof enclosement]
  6. Sorry DJan, often times on these forums we are preaching to the choir. It's the poeple who do not read these forums regulalry other than Talk Back that scare me. They are the ones that need educating. And how will that be done? We can't make them read DZ.com. But we can make them take an education course on any new canopy they go to. Chris
  7. Sigh. You guys are no fun at all. I thought it was funny. Guess ya had to be there. Sorry MODERATOR but I thought this was a topical forum and not TALK BAAAAAHHHHHHCK.
  8. That video was so funny. Mostly cuz I've done the same thing and it wasn't me this time. LOL. Good thing too since I was wearing my white suite and new Blue, black, and white rig at the 1130 position in the base (desperate cry for "look at me! look at me!) and would really stand out like Green did on that other jump spinning out into orbit like a buzz saw. Bwahhahhahaha. That has to be the funniest video I've seen in a long time. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  9. Does he get a food pellet if he pushes the button? Those guys were really cool and they will be at SDC all week. They are doing organizing next weekend too. Chris spent time with our all woman's 4-way team "Furries". Really cool stuff. They were soaking it up like sponges. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  10. It came to MO whenever Greater Kansas City Skydiving Club opened I believe. That would have been about '93 (actually before my time). I heard that MRVS had used it a bit but don't believe it was used much. And I don't know what MRVS uses now. You'd have to ask them. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  11. Possibly. Depends on timing. I do like jumping too you know!
  12. Troll, troll, troll your boat.....gently down the.......
  13. As a pilot I prefered flying IAD students over S/L. There were fewer "balks" on IAD. I think it is a mental thing when the JM is out on the step with the student. They are more confident and put at ease in a stressful situation. I learned to skydive on the IAD method. Done correctly it will teach you as well as any other program. 14. Was he an aerodynamicist? Or just "some genius scientist type" as you put it. Assuming he must have known something more than anyone else inately is the wrong assumption. Anyone, at anytime, can mess up. What are those results going to be when that mess-up comes? Under a lighter loaded wing the results may not be death. With a heavier loading the chances that it is not death are diminished. Education specificly geared towards handling these canopies during our formative period (student status) is the key to setting life long good habbits in this sport. Chris Schindler
  15. Dude, you have to go to SDC. The July 4th weekend is always a blast! The fireworks display (put on by skydivers for skydivers) is really kick ass. Always fun. Chris Schindler Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

  17. Graduated drivers ed. Sounds like a good idea. Folks, we don't have to re-invent the wheel. Just look at what goes on with airplanes. In order to fly a certain aircraft you have to go through a supervised check out. What's wrong with that idea here in skydiving? Does it infringe on your freedom? Too bad. Your freedom doesn't give you the right to make me scoop your dead body up off the ground to try and give you CPR with blood spurting out. Education is the key. But since the current group of instructors accross this country do not seem on whole to want to follow the USPA ISP and actually teach canopy control there has to be action in some other manor. I don't disagree with Ron's idea of canopy wing loading restrictions. I think it would be a hard sell and tougher to enforce. But then again, anything worth doing is never easy. It's always hard. I like Bill's idea of "opt out" by performing to a designated examiner. oh my word! Did you know they have designated examiners for Jump Masters too!??? I guess it's not a stretch to set up a system where it would be easy to verify instruction along a designated canopy training course with student training. We just have to make USPA enforce the canopy training part of the ISP. So, we are back to self regulating. And that is what Ron is trying to do. We can choose to have a self regulation in order to recognize that the canopies of today are not the canopies of yesterday. Things do have to change. This is one way in which it could change. My pilot certificate says ATP (airline transport pilot); type rated: CL-65 (Canadair Regional Jet). I also have single engine and multi-engine commercial privileges. Oh my word! You mean it's a Privilege to be in the air? I guess that means I have a due care to be smart while in the air huh? Those who can't show maturity with a privilege will have it stripped from them. That's all I have to say about that now. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  18. While you may not get this passed your efforts are in the right direction. People should be made aware about wing loading and training. The side effect of your efforts might be to increase thinking to avoid regulation. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  19. Wasn't there a collision between two jumpers from different groups in Australia recently? People need to pay attention to seperation. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  20. Thanks hsaddler! Nice for everyome to be able to read this. Cheers! BB Betsty, Do you think Bryan would mind if I posted this page on my DD.com site? The pilots have the info on the groundspeed but may not know the specific seperation to tell people. Not all jumpers will read this table but an informed pilot can brief them on this. 21. You make very real points. HERE is the accident report from a mid-air involving a jump plane. Mid-airs can happen anywhere, anytime. HERE is the report from a low emergency exit that killed everyone. So, the point is that those who think that having an emergency at 1,000 feet means they can bail are wrong. IT DOES NOT. That's just the lowest altitude that most people think they can get out. But really, if the emergency doesn't happen above 1,500 feet I'm not telling anyone to get out. There's no time to get people up and start climbing over me (in the case of a 182) while I try to fly the plane and land it somewhat safely. In the case of a twin I will not tell anyone to get out unless the aircraft is going out of control. Since I don't believe in flying in twins that can't climb on one engine you'll never hear me tell people to bail out below 2,000 feet for a simple engine failure. Another thing I've noted. People are putting their seatbelts on incorrectly in my opinion. They are routing the large "female" end through the harness. In an emergency to you think you can get that back through the harness quickly? Any seatbelt setup that routes through your harness should only have the skinny "male" end through the harness. So that when you unbuckle the seatbelt it will easily slide back through. Have you thought about that? You should. Your next emergency exit may depend on you not being tangled with your seatbelt. 22. Welcome to my world. Oh yah....and..........BEEEER!
  23. I would say that the FARs clearly state you can not knowingly takeoff in an unairworthy condition. If the aircraft is producing carbon monoxide into the cabin and it can't be stopped then the aircraft is unairworthy. Plus, how short a duration? Having Carbon Monoxide poisoning is much like being drunk. You have a lack of oxygen in your system. And this pilot took off and flew where the air was thinner than being on the ground? I guess it depends on what you define as short time also. I don't think that anyone with CO poisoning is going to have all of their judgemental faculties working. Maybe someone could have stepped in and said "no, you need to rethink this". Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
