Do you mean like video leads with a headphone jack? I know in the states you can get the lead that connects to the bottom but i have not found this in the uk very cheap yet. No mate, Just heading up north this weekend and thought i would throw some footage i have been working on for some time on to my phone to show someone. Sounds stupid huh? Thing is my burner aint working and my camera is up north so it was the ipod or the phone. With the phone being new and all though i would go with the phone. I am using 'ffmpegx'. Sure, but with a camera helmet you would get to experience a different view, the view of the rider. Sure it aint going to cover glamour shots or anything but it would be sick on rails and half-pipe. I was in a go-karting Grand Prix race on an FAI race trak a few weeks ago and had my camera helmet on, I got to say the video is awesome. Started in 11th position in the final and ended up coming first place. watching that video again of passing and working the corners to pass other karts just looks wicked! I think it will work. Something different but i was working in a pub in a remote part of scotland. There was an abselilng whitewater rafting company. I ended up making a fortune just videoing the group each day and then offering my product to the group for a certain amount each. If someone is on holiday and they are taking part of some sort of adventure/activity, they have no time to video it so i found that tourists will pay for the whole package when they are trying something. You know a nice marketing idea might be designing a snowboarding camera helmet set up with a dv camera, chincup and cam eye and market it out on at the slopes. I have not either seen it yet, but snowboarders are like skaters and they like to video everything. I know it is done, but is their an actual product on the shelves? Speed skiing to the point where you could possibly want a parachute to slow you down....I think that would mean that you were on a pretty steep slope.... So going on the thought in my mind of deploying a parachute (however you end up deploying it) from the hips, the picture i have in my mind says that the canopy will slam into the slope when the relative wind hits it, this picking up snow, or even just ripping you off your feet while it is inflating after hitting the slope. Thinking along those lines i could picture mounting something on the back of your shoulders and having the pilot chute ( avery powerful one) deploying straight up so it can clear the angle of the slope. Keep in mind, i dont think you would want a very big cute but then also going down a slope at this sort of speed and deploying a canopy, if the canopy does inflate, (the slope being steep) you are going to lift off and be flying a canopy, then this is going to present multiple dangers of landing on snow/ice and then multiple obstacles and also landing with speed skiis strapped to your feet. I really can not imagine any situation where this is a good idea. If you skiing at these sort of speeds you would be very well trained and i think an important part of this training would be how to fall, as well as how to slow down/stop. The only place i can see our sporting equipment meeting skiing equipment is off the side of a cliff. In Britain you need FS1 to jump with other people in rel work that do not have fs1, in other words you need to do a 4 point 4 way to get this qualification so you can then take other jumpers up to do rw. If you do not have fs1, everybody else on the jump must have this qualification. FF1 is being able to show certain sitflying transitions before you can sitfly. At hinton you need 100 jumps before attempting this. And you must have FS1 You can then go for FS2, this allows you to go head down. In other words, in Britain, you MUST pay for alot of coaching jumps! Sure there is a big downside to this, but also a very safe side. As a new person to UK, i feel very safe skydiving here. Before you get on the plane, you HAVE to get in a fenced off area and have buddy checks, and then have your buddy sign you off on a legal document. You might want to be careful posting alleged tandem incidents about the dropzone you jump at mate. Dz owners don't take too friendly to that here in the UK. It is a small community, skydiving, dont go posting alleged tandem incidents about the dropzone you jump at unless you are authorised to or if you are at a level where you know what you are commenting on if you want to keep a friendly atmosphere with the owners who put their lives in to their dropzone to give you the pleasure to jump. DZO's work a lot harder than you could probably ever imagine unless you were close to them. A dropzone is probably one of the hardest businesses to manage and run. You have more over heads than just owning a plane and having a pilot, you have a major safety factor and regulations to meet and have many peoples lives in your hands owning a dropzone. The people that own these dropzones to me are the greatest people i have ever met. They are doing it for us just as much as the tandems. If it was not for tandems we would not have sport skydiving with turbine aircrafts and facilities that we do. You say things about tandem incidents and put future tandems from going to a particular dropzone, what you are doing is taking a club away from the sport skydivers. Dropzones need tandems to keep us jumping out of these great planes. If you think tandem masters, riggers, CSO's get paid what they are worth you have got to be kidding me. A dropzone in the UK is very fair to charge £230, Hinton is £250 and they can do 100 tandems every sat and sun. Thanks for that. There are two dates that our group looks at arriving. Either the 18th or the 21st. Both flights get in at 3pm. The thing is though is that the train leaves at 4pm each day and i doubt we will make that. Also on the way back the train arrives at the airport an hour to late for that day. Kinda sucks, means we have to stay in chicago for two nights. Bit of a waste really. If you could show me alternative transport (busses) would be excellent. Paying so much to get there that it will be a real downer having to spend to days and nights in chicago. Anyway thanks for the replies you are giving me. We were looking at hiring cars but again, be a waste seeing as we are going to be jumping and not driving.
