  1. It's the problem, but disabling it is not enough. Yes, I had to uninstall and reinstall McAfee, and it works now. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. I see now that it is a recent-known problem with a McAfee update. Had to uninstall and reinstall it. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  3. Restoring Windows back to an earlier point worked again...very weird. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  4. Now I see that it is due to a McAfee update (it happened again when I allowed McAfee to update), but I don't know how to set back the update like I can on Windows. I've tried disabling the firewall, that is not the problem. Arghh, McAfee updates have never caused problems. 5. After the latest batch of updates installed on Monday/Tuesday, I can't use my hardwired internet connection on my desktop computer. If I restore back to the previous system point, then it works fine. Diagnosing the connection turns up nothing. Anyone have some insight on this? I hope I'm not the only one affected, maybe if I just keep the old configuration for a while the updates will be patched up. I'm just going to stay away from the updates for now of course. Thanks in advance for any info you might have. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 6. I wasn't aware of ZP freebags, but it doesn't matter, because they have a big opening, where the canopy is inserted. They aren't sealed. Every time you go up and down in altitude, there is a large pressure difference driving the air in and out of the rig. The air will definitely get through multiple layers, just more slowly. How do you think it is possible to get a canopy that is already in a freebag to compress a bit more, then a bit more? Some air gets pushed out. If the air didn't get pushed through multiple layers, your reserve would expand a bunch at altitude. I can agree with you on that, the advantage of humidity shouldn't be needed to pack a rig, but riggers face a lot of rigs that are tight, and don't feel that they can turn away so many customers. I am happy to have a properly sized reserve for my container, my rigger knows that it won't be a struggle. If my rig was a challenge, I would be glad that my rigger knew this very reasonable method to minimize that battle rather than just brute force. 8. Who said anything about injecting? The question was about the use of a humidifier in the room. That doesn't mean a sprinkler. If the use of a humidifier causes concern, then what level of humidity would you want to stay under? Your concern implies that a dehumidifier should be used by those in naturally humid conditions. 9. \ I have several containers with various versions of red-white & blue...trust me, you don't want that much white on the rig. I've had that same design in an Infinity for 7 seasons, the white is still looking like new. I helps to Scotchgard it so it is more cleanable, and being able to land well. That wasn't so much white, hookit's design had a lot of white. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 16. It looks to be in good condition, and the colors are bright, so I'd tell him your final offer is $200 to take it off his hands. Then, when he is celebrating the sale and replies to you about finalizing the arrangements, let him know how you want to be paid. Actually, offer whatever it takes to get him thinking he's got it sold before you tell him off. The person selling that to a newbie should be made known. 17. Then stop screwing up! Seriously, get video of your landing and get others to critique, there should be plenty of opportunity for improvement. 18. Even though you're jumping a 200 loaded only at .87, it is not a ZP canopy (maverick). It may be a lot more porous than when it was new, and even lightly loaded such canopies can be tricky to land well. So, why does it matter so much that it isn't ZP?. When a wing is flying at high angles of attack (such as during a flared landing), it is very important that the airflow over the top of the wing stay "attached"/not "separate" from the top surface of the wing. If air is leaking out through the top skin fabric too much, then it has the effect of separating the airflow, and you don't get much lift. Conditions on the bottom skin of the wing are very different, with separation not being an issue, so leakage through non-ZP fabric doesn't matter. If it was possible to actually suck air into the wing through/from the top skin, then you get the ability to produce good lift at higher angles of attack, as the airflow stays attached when it otherwise would not. This has been done on some experimental airplanes, including a Boeing 757 testbed that had part of the wing drilled with very tiny holes and a vacuum applied to suck air into the wing. So, air leaking out through the fabric matters a lot for the top skin, but not for the bottom, as long as it is not so much that cell pressurization suffers. 19. That is a long way from meaning that you will reduce your vertical speed as you track. Some will, many do not, or even increase their vertical speed in a track. 21. On most large RW jumps, I think there are many people that open while nearly in a track, or very shortly after ending their track. 22. I think this is reasonable (from a DZO perspective) because people that definitely know better are still forgetting to do it the right way. As I said before, the current situation is that people that have been trained to not screw up still do screw up. So, how do we keep people from forgetting to do it the right way every single time? Until we figure out how to do that, I don't think any more formal/expensive/endorsed by whatever governing body training program is going to change things. The training/procedures/I don't know what needs to change, but we don't yet know how it should change. 23. Apparently it is easy for people forget such things. I do not believe that many wingsuiters that have hit the tail or come close have lacked the proper instruction. Whether it is by formal training with USPA endorsed/certified instructors and curriculum, or more careful application of the more informal methods currently used, how will we accomplish the goal of getting people to not forget? I think that is what the focus needs to be, How can training achieve the goal of people not forgetting? Maybe a ground simulator with electro-shock punishment for bad behavior? 25. The reserve opening after the main deploys would not be directly up into the main. It would trail behind and even below you until it inflated, so there is much less reason to fear the reserve opening after the main opening shock than the reserve opening simultaneous to the main.
