  1. In my opinion, there is a problem with fear. The fear of cutting away (or just pulling reserve) and having to actually count on the reserve working. It should not be surprising, fear is natural and of course there is a chance the reserve won't work. How to counter this natural fear? I think this fear that can make jumpers of any level of experience take too much time/altitude trying to fix a mal must be acknowledged. This fear must be discussed in the open so that when facing the need to chop, a person remembers how the fear of implementing emergency procedures will kill them - that they need to do it now so they will not die. Usually, there is actually no need to look at an altimeter to confirm the need to react. If jumpers come to understand the natural tendency to not want to have to use emergency procedures, understand how that can kill, then it is more likely that an individual will not fall prey to the fear that will kill. A MARD or RSL will not fix this. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 2. I've listed my many reasons for not using my RSL in a separate thread. Those reasons are not related to wanting to get stable after cutting away. The 3 times I've chopped, I pulled the reserve immediately. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 3. Since such snagging incidents happened, at least some (all?) rig mfgs have taken the easy step of covering the grommet with material to eliminate that problem completely. It doesn't take moving the loop anchor position to remove that hazard. Older rigs that are still vulnerable to this could be easily modified I would think. 5. Despite their best efforts, they'll still not have the "word" passed around - there will be incidents where the authorities in authority say it is a no go due to policy. This does bring up a point about lithium batteries. Do we actually know for sure whether the various brands/I vs II actually use lithium batteries? 6. An aad does not have an explosive. In the same way that what goes on in the engine of your car is not an explosion. When asked, it is not a lie to say your rig doesn't have that. 7. I think you mean the main opening altitude requirement. There are differences in what people consider the term "hard deck" to mean, but I am quite sure it is not this. 11. Since they still sell the ProTrack, it would seem natural that they could still support (service/fix) them, even if it was an old one. If the needed repair was so extensive/expensive that it didn't make sense to fix it, then I could understand, but then it wouldn't be right to say they can't "support" the product. It used to be that L&B had a well deserved reputation for fixing/repairing things without any question, and apparently that is no longer the case. Again, that is reasonable, but everyone ought to know the new reality. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 12. What everyone is telling you is correct, but in actual usage it can have some overlapping/multiple meanings. Sometimes the term is used for anyone that is outside the door on exit, even if it is a small group and they will all be "in the base". 13. If the way you phrase your post is similar to the way you ask for customer support then I'm not surprised if you're not first in the queue for answers... As a general rule, L&B have a reputation for outstanding customer service. Given the hundreds of glowing reviews I've seen about L&B I'm inclined to suspect that you're part of the problem. It seems that for a long time L&B backed their products way beyond normal expectations. There seemed to be no limit to the willingness of L&B to replace things no matter the problem or how old it was. Lately, there have been several that have related their experience being much different. Their stellar service made for very loyal customers. That kind of service should no longer be expected. It doesn't surprise me that their policies are now more realistic, but what are the details of your trouble (directed to the OP)? 15. Some people would make an anonymous username to ask a general question about this subject. Obviously the guy she talks about is going to read this thread, or hear about it from others. He is friendly to her, stares at her, helps put her rig on...are we supposed to let her know whether he probably "likes" her? Is this middle school? 18. Look up "elastic keepers", item M635 in the paragear catalog. That is what is the standard item for doing that sort of thing on a leg strap or std width cheststrap. Paragear isn't the only place you can get them, and somebody at your dropzone might have some extras. 19. All of them are "on the bag". The terms usually used are locking stows and non-locking stows. Watch out for the condition of the locking stow bands especially, you don't want them breaking before they do their job. I would never have spent so much time, you must be a very careful at packing. 20. These are real viable solutions, no longer so expensive if limited range is OK, which it should be. Cheap enough that one could be put on the main, and even sewn into the reserve freebag. There might be a lot of work to get mfgs to specifically allow a pocket on the freebag, but who knows? Other possibilities mentioned in the comments from the above link: https://www.sticknfind.com/ http://www.kensington.com/kensington/us/us/s/3068/proximo.aspx People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 21. Can you explain? If the bag is the appropriate size/shape for a container, are you saying there is a potential problem based on the stowless nature of the bag? Many/most of them change where the bulk of the lines are located. Combine that with the possibility that non-original mfg bags can have slight but important differences in the actual shape of the bag can mean that they don't pack up the same in the container. So it isn't the stowless bag that's the issue. It's the shape/dimensions of the bag itself. That is a problem whether using a stowless or traditional bag. Assuming you are correct, it's also a classic case of too much main for too little container. Everyone wants to jump a lunchbox. My case was definitely not due to a tight/stuffed situation. The problem was not at all that it was hard to close, it just didn't fit the same (fill in the corners of the container, and it was noticeable. The original bag was just right, and even after a 2nd attempt at getting the dimensions right, it just wasn't the same with the stowless. It isn't so easy to make it just like the original/to fit just like the original. If the bag mfg has access to the original design specs or the original bag itself that would naturally help. Having just measurements provided by the owner may not be enough, as there can be subtle aspects to the design of the bag that won't be conveyed by length/width/thickness. 22. As others have suggested, visually checking for proper chest strap routing on the rigs of others is a great idea. You might notice a mistake, and I think it is very unlikely that if on every jump you take a good amount of time to confirm that others have done it right, I think it is especially unlikely that you could make the mistake of checking your own gear and not notice if it was done wrong. I caught a misrouted cutaway housing (through the large ring) on the way to altitude because I was looking for problems - you have to spend a lot of time to confirm the gear of others, so it is natural to do a real check of your own at the same time. 25. I think you'd be wise to wait and get the right fabric. The ZPX stretches differently than regular ZP, so that would put unusual stress/strain on the areas around the patches. For the OP, my ZPX Pilot has been great for me, but only a couple hundred jumps on it so far.
