  1. Does anyone know how much the ring costs? Probably a lot given that it wasn't in the ad. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. I hope we can all agree that this is not journalism. I think it is advocating the position of the terrorists. http://aviationnow.com/avnow/news/channel_awst_story.jsp?id=news/12083air.xml Has anyone heard of this little "detail" about the incident? It should be a major outrage! People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 3. I thought it would have "hydraulic fuses" to limit the amount of fluid that could be lost in that type of scenario. Of course maybe the leak was not fast enough to activate the fuse, or there could be other complications. It will be interesting to find out more. Aviation Week is one of the only sources for good info on this type of stuff. http://aviationnow.com/avnow/news/channel_awst_story.jsp?id=news/12083air.xml And the worst thing of all! I will start a new thread on this! People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 4. Making that decision is relatively easy now. I'll tell you what can give you anxiety regarding a chop: Wondering if you are more likely to get hurt landing your tiny hi-porosity round reserve (with no diaper/bag/deployment device of any kind) than the partial malfunction you are looking at. Or wishing you hadn't volunteered to do a demo at 6000 AGL with car sized boulders everywhere except the tiny parking lot landing area while you try to get your main to open for 2000 feet with the same crappy round reserve on your back (sure glad I pulled high on that one). That is chop anxiety! We have it so good now. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 5. Of course they will, they let all students do it for a price. It is called rental. It is not much trouble at all to swap out a canopy that comes with risers. They may still charge you the same even though you're not using their main. 6. It took a long time, but they finally realized that full deflection of the rudder back and forth would likely overstress any commercial jet: http://aviationnow.com/avnow/search/autosuggest.jsp?docid=1959&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aviationnow.com%2Favnow%2Fnews%2Fchannel_comm.jsp%3Fview%3Dstory%26id%3Dnews%2Fcntsb0208.xml my user name includes 777 'cause I helped design the Boeing 777 flight deck, but I haven't flown on it yet People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 7. Always good to have a spare reserve ripcord and cutway handle. The freebag & PC is easier to find and more expensive, so I don't have a spare yet. Especially for those using an RSL, the reserve ripcord may be so kinked so that your rigger may refuse to reuse it (I think this is true, comments welcome). 8. Have you tried unstowing the brakes while it snivels? I had a ParaFlite Astrobe that would not open until I unstowed the brakes. It worked every time. I would not have been able to do it reliably without 'stay open' toggles so they were easy to grab. 9. Regarding the first post link: What is the meaning of that "with the purchase of another mumia of equal or lesser value" and the Target store symbol? I hope this is just a joke. 10. I think the only guys who do this are those who want to make speeches during the trial, knowing that their lawyer would not do it to their satisfaction. They know they are guilty, know they will be found guilty in their trial, and want one last grand stage to spew a lot of filth from their mouth. Like the NY subway shooter. 13. Agreed, don't use the end of the riser, put the excess through the slink itself. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  14. Years ago, the nose of the toggle did not get tucked away in a keeper as it is commonly done now (there were no keepers). S-folding the excess and stowing it in a band is not as secure as using the nose & keeper of the toggle, in my opinion. Keeping the excess above the region where you grab the toggle is a very good thing, in my opinion. If you are sure you're slinks will not rotate, because they are tacked, or they are on wide risers like mine and take a very secure 'set', then I think putting them through the slink loop has no risk and some benefit. Wrapping the excess around the riser is almost as good, just doesn't keep it as much above the toggle. 17. Thank you for making me think to find it. Please read this and try to hold on to the belief that we can fix this, if only we had the right diplomats. 18. Yes, unless one side achieves military victory (not at all likely), they both must decide to not have the last revenge. I think that neither Arafat or Sharon are the leaders that will be able to find peace. There is just too much baggage for both of them. The newest efforts by some of the previous negotiators (against the will of both sides' leaders) is encouraging. I think there is reason to be optimistic, but primarily I think the Palestinians need leadership like Egypt had with Sadat in the late 70's. He was courageous, and was wise enough to truly seek peace. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 19. Exactly, they tried to kill a member of the terrorist leadership. I think this is justified. How does this prove they are not willing to live in peace with their Arab neighbors. We tried to assassinate Saddam, he was proving to himself that he had a mole, had the suspected mole arrange a meeting at a restaraunt (and snuck out the back). We got word of it and blew the place up 10-15 minutes after he arrived/left. Do you think we should only try to kill him if we can be sure of no civilian casualties. 20. I think it more correct to say that Israel is quite willing to live in peace with their Arab neighbors (current state of affairs with some of them for quite a while now), but they do not believe the current PA leadership will ever seek that peace. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  21. What will not promote peace: 1) Being fooled by Arafat that the Palestinians are in their situation only because of their oppresion by Israel. 2) Thinking that simply deciding to be nice to the current PA leadership will get them to really, honestly, seek peace. I don't want to promote the hatred of Arabs as you imply. I do think the hatred of the policies and actions to which the PA subscribe is justified. These same priciples apply to the war on terrorism in which we are currently engaged. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  22. OK, their leadership wants exactly that. So I will be more specific to say that the PA wants to hurt Jews (any Jews), and do want to annihilate the State of Israel. Even though Arafat election was not elected in a free election, he has very strong support among his people. I criticize them for their actions/policy, not for their ethnic/racial category. I hardly think this is racism. This is criticism of the policy and actions of a PA leadership and organizations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, and others who lead their followers to do horrible things. Criticizing the party of that little corporal from Austria should not be considered racism against Germans (notice I didn't say N*zi ). There is a huge difference. 23. Israel is an ally. A very close one, yes. The US has military bases in foreign countries in many parts of the world, so does that make Germany, Japan, and others 'US bases'? Israel does not always follow the advice of the US administration. So we have hardly 'got that out of the way' unless you have something else to reinforce your conclusion. Wrong! US tax dollars to PA Of course it is easy to conclude that I am happy about Israel being the biggest superpower in the region. If this were not true, they would not exist. You might as well complain about the US being the biggest superpower on the planet, and that we should not be so capable of defending our freedom. Actually, some peaceniks do complain that the world would be better if we were not the only superpower, so you're not alone. Earlier in this thread I referenced an article that describes how the US fought against Israel getting nuclear weapons with the assistance of France. OK, Israel is not 'poor'. We can agree on that. Lots of countries receive foreign aid (grants, loans, loan guarantees) from the US. They are the lone democracy in the region surrounded by those with the objective to destroy them. 24. From the Washington report on Middle East Affairs article, 2nd paragraph: I don't understand the 'humanitarian' part, but what about the rest is not true? The 3rd paragraph: They do want to hurt Jews (any Jews), and do want to annihilate the State of Israel. I find it interesting that the the 'racist' and 'hatred' promoting references are to individual words instead of bothering to even show parts of sentences.
