    Don't consider it for at least a couple hundred jumps or so, you don't even know what you don't know. But, it is a lot of fun to fly with tandems, especially with friends/family, and students that are really digging the experience. I've probably jumped with 30 tandems and docked on most of them, if the conditions are right, it is really a kick for the student. Sometimes the drogue or the student will cause some instability where docking isn't a good idea. Sometimes the fall rate just is so fast or slow that it can be difficult, so you never can be too determined that you must dock. Be patient, just getting video will give your friends the experience of someone being near or docking on them.     The Astra's switch was too simple (easy to operate), and the unit too dumb to realize that it shouldn't calibrate while climbing, so if you turn it on, or off then on, or if there is an intermittent circuit to the switch, while climbing, it will not have a correct ground reference.     If you pick up your canopy in a sloppy manner it can easily get flipped through. Pick it up by first bringing the lines together near the canopy and you will tend to avoid this.     Whether it is easier on a solo rig is really not important. You need to have the confidence in yourself that you can do what is needed. Impress this on your instructors that you need this for yourself, they look forward to students that want to get it right. Some intensive one on one training in harness and on a table/creeper should be in your future. You should not depend on an AFF instructor to pull for you. You must be confident in your ability.     Aren't some people using freebags now? Or is tension on the apex needed for a clean deployment? I have 2 rides on a 26 ft HI-PO (high porosity) reserve. They come down fast. . The fact that it didn't even have a diaper, and one opening was at terminal are pretty scary. I found 28 ft mains to also just land too fast for it to be fun. And I only weighed 185 back then. A 35 ft T-10 or PC I could stand up, so I suppose a 26 Lopo would not be so fast.     Regular clothes can easily get in the way, or cover handles. A jumpsuit prevents that, and provides a way to regulate your terminal speed according to how loose or tight the suit is.     Show up early, be patient and humble - do not presume they will do you a favor. But let them know that you will be a regular customer. If you then impress them with your knowledge/skill, they will be more likely to give you a break - but you may still have to ask for it.
