  1. The term 'phobe' is so misapplied, I think on purpose in order to accuse the 'phobe' of bigotry. Anyone that dares to criticize gay rights activists/advocacy groups is labeled a bigot/homophobe. Most people think that 'phobe' means a fear of something. But for some reason that doesn't apply to those that don't support gay marriage, or even someone that doesn't want to watch the movie Brokeback Mountain. The term homophobe labels them as a bigot if they disagree with this objective by gay rights groups. So, I think it more than fair to label all liberals that do actually hate Bush and conservatives in general, as Bushphobes, conservativephobes, or republicanphobes. After all, they don't just disagree with the goals of Bush, they actually do hate him. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. I certainly think it should never be sufficient to label someone a homophobe. edit - sorry, this is the bonfire. I moved the rest of my post to the SC thread. 3. That looks like you have a large main and tiny reserve! People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  4. Smoking is still seen as cool by kids apparently. Remember the movie, Independence Day? Will Smith is all about celebrating his victories with a cigar, and Jeff Goldblum also agrees to indulge. It is so glorified in this movie. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 5. No, I don't think it was a helicopter. The title of the thread says helicopter, but the text of the post says "AC-130 gunship provided the fire (C-130 hercules gun platform)". This matches with my memory of the incident when it happened. Not that it couldn't have been done by a helicopter, but I don't think it was. 7. The Odyssey is the sportiest van. All of the Hondas/Acuras, including the SUVs, with the rear seat entertainment system can accomodate a game system. The screen is small enough, however, that it is not so satisfying for the kids. 8. The MDX is awesome, but I am a bit biased, being so involved in the development of the instrument panel and console. As I said, the new model will be out in the fall, so you can choose to wait or get a good deal as the fall approaches. It has outstanding crashworthiness compared to its competitors. Many models have excellent accessories to make them quite dog friendly, depending on your needs. 9. Thanks. I guess that 45 deg C is pretty normal. All seems to be good after cleaning the vent holes. I'm ashamed that I let them get covered so bad that it affected the system. 10. Obviously you are considering Hondas. Good choice. I have been a design engineer for them for 10 years in Ohio. Consider the Honda Pilot (8 passenger SUV), or the Honda Ridgeline pickup (lots of cool storage features inside and in the bed trunk), or the Acura MDX (7 pass SUV) if you want upscale luxury type SUV. All of these are made in North America with more domestic content than the big 3 typically offer. Also, the Honda CRV and Acura MDX will be a full model change/replaced this year, so good deals will be had on the old version, or maybe wait for the new one. The all new Acura RDX will be out before too long. All of these and the Odyssey are good for kids because you can recline the back seats, which is crucial for them to sleep comfortably. It only takes a little from the std position, but it makes a huge difference. Feel free to PM me for more insider info on Honda vehicles. edit: The Honda/Acura Navigation system is super easy to use, very intuitive. 13. Do you have to interrupt the start up sequence to get to this screen? I can't find it within the control panel. I've been having some resets lately that may have been due to clogged air ports, now cleaned. When this screen came up, I saw that the 'sys fan' speed was 0 rpm. The other fan was running. Should I necessarily have a sys fan? I'd like to be able to monitor the temp to make sure all is good. Thanks in advance for your help Gen system spec: XP home edition on Pentium 4. 14. That is a terrible analogy. At least in a game it is clear who deserves a penalty and who deserves the benefit. So, who deserves a benefit? Should a recent black immigrant from another country get the benefit? Should a recent white immigrant from another country get the penalty? Should a wealthy black person get the benefit? Is it enough to allow people to self-declare themselves black? Is Mariah Carey black? I wouldn't have thought she was at all black until I read that she was. It isn't an unreasonable question, the question of racial determination has been addressed by native american tribes, why not for blacks that get benefits based upon their race? I realize that determining race wasn't needed when it was discrimination that was being handed out. But I don't think it should go as an undefined characteristic now, when important benefits and penalties are at stake. 18. Walking the twists out is overkill, just no need to get absolutely all the twists out, I think. Just eyeballing it as you set the brakes, and taking a few twists out until it looks straight is good enough, and can be done every time you pack. Many a slider hangup can be attributed to such twists. No debate on this issue, that is way too much. 19. I know that I cannot easily control the urge to have fun with powerful vehicles. As I said, you are better off to not be tempted. Not nearly as much fun, but you know you're better off. 22. I heard an extended radio interview with him on Friday. He appeared to be very credible. He was asked very directly about how he was able to argue with SH. He would ask permission of SH to explain a different opinion, and then offer it. He was perhaps the only advisor for SH that was not a 'yes man'. Apparently, SH valued that. I couldn't find anything about this on CNN.com, isn't that amazing. The story he tells is very threatening to the libs. Very threatening indeed. 23. I agree that the Vector III design is better and since the old guy with the big beard wants other manufacturers to use it without royalty then they should use it. However, I don't see how manufacturers are misunderstanding the operating principles of the design or how Sandy Reid's comment applies. 24. A lot of SUVs are not gas guzzlers. A lot of non SUVs are gas guzzlers. A lot of family minivans get the same mileage as similar sized SUVs, and many people with only 1 or 2 kids get minivans when a small sedan would serve well. They are not criticized because everyone knows that people don't get minivans to boost their ego. People that buy SUVs often like the image that the vehicle provides, so that is judged bad. I am so tired of SUVs being singled out as inefficient. What about pickups owned by people that almost never use the bed, or powerful luxury cars, or powerful sports cars? 25. How about the scenario of a bag lock that doesn't stand you up. A few people have reported such a body position during a bag lock in a recent thread. That would be a very bad attitude to pull on the reserve cable. Also, a broken or released riser on one side (non RSL side of course) would set you into a poor attitude for when the other side is released.
