  1. Definitely suit 3, but try putting 2 colors on the grippers. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. Absolutely. Every other sort of murder is defined by law. Why should this be treated differently? Just because women want to do whatever they want with whatever is inside their bodies? At some point during the pregnancy, it should be considered murder. Sorry ladies, but your 'right' should not extend indefinitely. It should be done by our legislature, either by statute or constitutional amendment. Our lawmakers should not get to avoid tough issues, they should have to negotiate a reasonable compromise (I know everyone will certainly not be happy), and take a stand on the issue. 3. I think it is completely unreasonable to advocate abortion on demand at any time during the pregnancy. If it is murder one second after the baby is born, I don't think it should be any less of a murder one second or one minute or one day before it is born. Being inside the woman's body should not take away the fact that it is murder at a late stage. It is completely appropriate for the govenment to punish those who murder. Mothers would certainly want more than an assault charge against someone that killed their unborn whatever-it-is. But when is it alive? That is the point over which I think there is room for reasonable discussion. It should not be the moment of birth, and should not be the moment of conception. It should be defined by law, not by the courts. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 4. Below is a link to a simple set of tests done to disprove that: http://www.pcprg.com/cyprespc.htm So, consider that the unit uses about/at most around 100 times less power at 'rest' compared to when the LED is on/calibrating. Turning off the unit takes, say 10 seconds or so. So if the unit were on for 100*10=1000 seconds or about 16 minutes, then you are better to turn it off. Even with the assumptions that I haven't listed, or even if it is 1000 times less power, then it would be about 2.5 hours for the break even point. So I think it is fairly safe to make the obvious conclusion. The reason why the battery voltage is lower when the ammeter was connected is because a parallel circuit is established, the measurement affects the system by draining some power. A more expensive meter with a higher impedence would use less. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 5. Aren't we already training students to be device dependent to determine their hard deck for low speed mals? We train them to use their visual altimeter, don't we? 6. Absolutely. The requirement to have a coach rating to jump with pre-licensed jumpers caused a lot of grief when it was first implemented. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  7. I would think the training would go something like, "we will be able to see (even if you can't actually - as in the case of the opening altitude already recorded) if you needed to be reminded by the screaming in your ear, you'd better not wait that long or you'll face a lot of retraining, repeated levels...". Students already lose altitude awareness, I think it would be an overall positive. 8. Doesn't anybody agree that having the final tone only enabled is a good thing? How can you not want a device to assist in getting the attention of a student that has already failed in altitude awareness? 9. Netflix had it, I just watched it. Sorry, PJ, but it wallows in a vast sea of lameness! Maybe the mystery science theater guys could have made it funny for me to watch, but I thought it was really just plain awful. 10. I am very surprised that nobody has mentioned that an audible can be used for just the hard deck/flatline - screaming at you to save your life tone. Of course a student should realize that they have reached their hard deck without it, but if they don't know it, and are passing through it at high speed, I'd much rather they be reminded than not. It is easy to make it have only the last warning, and the instructors can set it for whatever altitude they want. You might think that students shouldn't wait for the flatline tone before cutting away - don't want them to rely on it, but I think it is much better to instruct them that they had better not be hearing that tone/they had better cut away before that tone, but if you do hear it.... 11. Your insults are not just between you and me, you air them for all to see. I can take it, but don't pretend that it is just between you and me. I contend that those opposed to polygamy should be labeled as a 'phobe and bigot, same as you would do to those opposed to your cause (but advise me to get help with my feelings). It is that simple, but it seems that you choose to ignore the implication of my assertion - that denying your rights is no worse than denying polygamist rights, and the voting public has no problem doing that. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  12. It's nice of you to rephrase your mistake, but in doing so you've made a different mistake. It doesn't matter if people make logical errors, or fallacies or whatever. Voters don't have to pass logic tests to cast their ballots. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  13. My gosh but you're obsessed with polygamy. Do you have some personal issues you'd like to talk about? No personal issues with polygamy. Apparently it is irritating to you that I bring up issues that will not support your cause. I think it is a useful comparison. The voting public is surely not going to legalize polygamy, so I contend you should not expect same sex marriage to be legalized until you can get the voting public to also grant polygamists the human rights they desire. Why should it be OK to deny them. I contend that is the way the voting public sees it. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  14. You completely misunderstand the meaning of "don't care" if you think it is the same as "don't want." But then, it's to your benefit to misunderstand or at least to appear to misunderstand. OK, I'll rephrase it. You don't care about polygamy being not being allowed, the voting public doesn't care about same sex marriage not being allowed either. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  15. True, I have generalized this from many people that I have asked. In other posts I have used said that "I contend that the general public..." I contend that it is a true statement. Anyway, it is a true statement that the voting public does not approve of same sex marriage, and I contend that support for polygamy is far lower. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  16. I haven't expressed an opinion. In fact, I don't have one. I don't care about those things. Of course you don't have to care. I am only expressing to you that the general public does see a valid comparison. You don't care about polygamy being legalized, they don't want to legalize same sex marriage either. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  17. It certainly is an issue in Utah. However, the general public is not in favor of this, and the general public is not considered a polyphobe or bigot for this position. I think it is therefore not phobic or bigoted to deny same sex marriages. Are you sure you would be in favor of allowing unions/marriages between any two people? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  18. I'd take that stand if I was committed to preventing the outcome of one issue from prevailing in the other. But nonetheless, they are comparable. But you don't think the current status of polygamy being illegal is comparable, apples and oranges, right? Billvon sees a valid comparison between mixed race marriages and same sex marriage, why no valid comparison here? Maybe same sex marriage advocates are OK with the denial of polygamist marriage rights because a lot of polygamists are very religious. It is OK with liberals to deny human rights to people of faith. I don't see how you can favor the legalization of same sex marriage without allowing polygamy. The same justifications apply. I don't think polygamy should be legal, but I don't think same sex marriage advocates are willing to take the position in favor of polygamy because they know it will not help their cause. They want marriage redefined just for their purpose, but not to include other marital arrangements which certainly have more of a basis in history. 20. My version of stack packing, starting with canopy flaked on its side, brakes not stowed: Place the A line group on top of the B line group (I grab each cell at the top skin as a group to 'place' the line groups). The nose of the cells 'pointing' straight up at this point. Roll nose of outer cells in towards the center (some canopies don't need this of course). Now with one hand underneath the canopy (between canopy and ground), and one hand on top of the rolled nose, 'flip' it over so that the nose is now 'pointed' straight down towards the ground. Then put the C and D line groups on top of the A & B groups. Separate the stabilizers, and then set the brakes (I find the D line group stacking is much neater if the brakes are not set first, but it can be done that way). The flaking of the tail is harder to describe, and can be done many different ways, so I'll avoid describing it. In the end I wrap a bit of the tail fabric around to cocoon it much like a pro pack looks. Everything else is just like a pro pack. I think the key thing is that you don't just roll everything in towards the center, and the nose is still exposed towards the front on opening, and the line groups are placed on top of each other. 21. I think that would be so cool to see. It would probably have to be customized, and they wouldn't go as fast down the ramp, but think of how far they would fly! They would have to extend the sloped part of the hill I would think. I wonder if the rules for ski jumping specifically do not allow anything connecting legs or arms to body? 23. I haven't answered your question on polygamy because, a) comparing polygamy to gay relationships is comparing apples and oranges, and b) because I really haven't given polygamy much thought. I don't and never have made it a point to stick my nose in other peoples business. But to answer your question after quick thought, no I'm not for polygamy, no I am not against polygamy and no I don't understand it - I am monogamous by nature. You can claim it to be an apples to oranges comparison, but I contend that the ordinary voter does not agree, and that should matter to you if you want your cause to succeed. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  24. Quite right. I ask for consistency, to not be a hypocrite. I contend that one should not support same sex marriage without accepting other less traditional arrangements. But it should also be understood that polygamy is not legal, and not at all close to being accepted by the general public. Therefore same sex marriage not being legal should not be considered the same as an infringement of civil rights such as race based prejudice/discriminatory laws. 25. Because rl stalks me so well, let me point out where she talks about this: Your right, RL has made it clear that she is OK with polygamy. My reply should have been directed at others are not so willing to make a stand on the issue. I contend they do not want to take a stand on it because they cannot justify denying poly marriages, but to say they are OK will not promote their cause of same sex marriage. They just want to distance themselves from what I think is a valid comparison. So, if it is OK to ignore the poly's lack of rights, why should I care that same sex marriage rights are denied? A person that is an advocate of same sex marriage should expect to be asked where they stand on that issue, and should expect Joe citizen to see the two as very similar in nature. Does a polygamist marriage affect others? What they do in their bedroom is their business, right? If they are in a committed, loving, relationship, why should anyone object? Aren't these the same arguments used to question the reason for objection to same sex marriage?
