  1. I'm not sure if it's the same one since my saphire is no longer mine. I've owned 2 saphires They were 13,000 foot altimeters which I liked. They were very durable and extremely accurate. I put at LEAST 1000 jumps on one of them and even launched it across the room by accident a couple times. It kept working. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... 2. I was just thinking about that. I wasn't looking at the big picture. The suspension lines are also cascaded, which means they have to be threaded, so that blows the ease of manufacturing right out of the water. I just looked at a Dash-M reserve. and a Pd-reserve, The Dash-m is Single loop brake lines, Larks head every thing else. ThePD Reserve, all lines are larks headed. Consistancy is the name of the game on the PD lines. Looks Like I'll have to go skydive this weekend and look at a bunch of parachutes My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  3. Being that a single loops concentrates the force to just the edges of the tape, and it's not in a fixed state like a Larks Head,It's possible. The larks head Gathers the tape and squishes it into place. It distributes the force along more of the tape. I just looked at my ACE. All the brake lines are Larks headed on. Which means whoever attached them had to Thread the larks head knot then Finger trap it prior to bartacking it. The Black Jack is packed so I won't look at it till it's opened. My Stiletto was relined the same way. All Larks head. No single loops. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  5. Ease of manufacturing. Build the line kit first. The brake line assembly is now one piece. Take a 4 line attached brake line for Example. If you take a look at your stilleto. Look at just the outer 2 brake lines and this may make sense. The 2 outer brake lines are actually one line folded in half. it is finger trapped back into itself like a closing loop and then exits back out around 2 inches up. Then it's bartacked. That leaves 2 lines connected at one end, leaving a loop to pass the Lower control line through. It is now easier to just pass the raw end through the attachment point on the tail, and finger trap it back into itself. To create a larks head at this point would entail some creative threading. Not difficult but time consuming. Heres an example to the difficulty you would run into. Tie a rubber band to each end of a pull up cord. Now there are 2 loops on the end of a line. Now try to larks head those 2 rubber bands onto 2 different Rubber band keepers. You'd have to cut one pass it through the keeper and super glue it back together. Make sense? 6. Yup Yup I hear ya. I"m in a similar situation right now with another manufacturer. I'll fill ya'll in when I have some form of closure. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  7. Dave, you're right about perfect condition. However the older racers were difficult to mate the velcro. Move wrong and they started to peel. Also perfect condition velcro still peels. I've been that rigger replacing the velcro several times. It peeled any way. (yes I used good hook and loop fastener) One world class freeflier in particular, ditched his racer after his 3rd radical malfuction due too the perfect condition velcro peeling away. Racer Elites have been known to let the risers go many times too. I've watched them over and over. regardless of the personal feeling toward the rig you own, I've still watched many times. Please keep in mind I was talking about an old design. That said...progress is progress. Designs improve. A container from a few years ago could very well have been tweaked. There is no reason anyone had to be informed about it. Naysayers? Yep I'm one of them. But I mentioned that designs improve. Also keep in mind I was stating a fact that an old model was prone to bad things happening when flying in a position that wasn't face to earth. Notice the very Wings you jump is not the same as it was only a couple years ago. For the record, the same model rig that I jump had issues as well. On my personal rig, nothing comes open untill I deploy. This is not true of all of them. Designs improve. Racer fan or not, I'll gladly admit they can improve to a point of being a very FF friendly state of the art rig. I've jumped them and they are definately comfortable. But what the heck do I know. once again..Please keep in mind I was talking about an old design. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  9. I've seen the riser covers peel all the way down. Serious malfunctions were the end results of several of these jumps. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  10. I loaded the demo about 2.6 Heading was never an issue out of about 50 jumps. The speed at which it inflated was though. Flew great My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  13. All right... If you're going to print up some T-Shirts, I want one as well. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  14. This apparently is a slam directed at Gravitymaster and I apoligize for wording it as such. Sorry man. It takes balls to openly admit in a public forum such as this mis rig. Kevin who Was ultimately responsible will take time to perform a proper Gear Check not just a pin check, Cuz sure enough... it's a pin alright. Either way. Thanks Kevin. Lets leave this alone and let the pictures speak for themselves. C-ya My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  15. I've already sent my props to Kevin via Private Message. I suppose it would have served well out in the open. It takes balls to share mistakes in an open forum. He did so for the benifit of others. Skydivers are so damned critical of each other when not speaking face to face. No one likes to admit mistakes. And I commend Kevin for sharing this for the benifit of others with out regards to his own comfort. Thanks man My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  16. OK.. if the rig is packed, it's cypress ready, and I was the rigger, then you get charged for a repack. So far there are no exeptions. Some shops may charge a nominal fee. What kind of rig do you have? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  17. Cypres ready....no extra charge. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  18. MINT.. chocolate chip. MMmmmmm (now were fighting ... Ow... sorry you win, you win!!! chocolate is the best ice cream, chocolate is the best ice cream... Ok.. can I get up now? Lou, The spinetto factor doesn't happen to me either. (although it has a couple times out of a few thousands jumps) I find doing NOTHING, works better than trying to assist the opening. It's not going to fly untill it's pressurized any way, The moment it's pressurize then do what you need to. Pull, stay square, and just let the parachute do it's thing, fly it when it's ready C-ya My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

    Dive loops

Zactly.... By the looks of your profile, Next time in Fl I should look you up. If you're in Nor Cal, you do the same. There are some objects around here you may be interested in. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

    Dive loops

Tip: Use this for toggles and dive loops. When you place the risers in the containter, instead of putting the loop flat on the riser down toward the rings, fold the excess up toward the links. When you open, the loops and toggles will stick away from the riser making it easy to grab. ---- I wear gloves almost always and I hate the blocks! (No I'm not fighting with you You could probably take me) I just couldn't get used to them. --- JT...I grab the dive loops upside down. So actually I grab the riser with my hands, upside down in the loops . Try it a few times, you may find it advantagious. I take it you're preparing to downsize form that 210? 22. ZACTLY!!!!.. thats what my stiletto can handle. It also could care less how I pack it. What kind of Cobalt was it? It seems the people at the dz I jump at, have good openings, but once again I believe none are the Comp model. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  23. Perhaps you may want a new instructor Get a 170. Not only will it be safer, lessening the chance for the pins described in the post above, You will learn a lot more. You will weigh the 170 down just fine. It will be fun. Unless you get a rig that the 170 fits loosely, you can replace the canopy with a 150 in a couple hundred jumps. 24. Yo Pilot Dave Take a good look at where you place the bridle when you push it under the side flap. A reflex has a very square corner on the bottom flap of the rig. It's easy to push the bridle past that corner and have it hang up on it, causing a pilot chute in tow. In fact, while on the ground push it up over that flap intentionally and pick up your rig with the bridle. It's very educational. (I better say this or some one else will...be sure to pull it back out from around the corner of the stiffener when you're done... Ok it was said.) Take a look at that and let us know if you think that's what caused it. If so, you're not the first, or second, or..... C-ya My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
