That's the way it should work. When you change your profile you get taken back to the profile menu, when you change your account information you will be taken back to the account menu. Safe swoops Sangiro

Heya all, The new log in application is live! Let me know if you find anything quirky. In the meantime, a few comments: Dropzone.com AccountThis is what you create when you sign up. It holds the minimum information. Information in your account is private and not accessible by other users. This is where you change and update your password. The email address in your account is where all notices and subscriptions from Dropzone.com will be sent. It has to be valid and is not visible to anyone. You probably won't have to change your account information often once you've created it You can get here by clicking on myDZ or login on any page http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/community/community.cgi Your Skydiving ProfileThis was the old "Forum Profile" It has been merged with your old "Full Profile" - we migrated all the information over The email address in your profile will be visible to users in the forums. It does not have to be a valid email address. You may want to update this more often as it holds your skydiving information. To view a person's profile just click on his/her username in the forums. Heya all, We plan to roll out the new log in system tonight (PST). Dropzone.com will be off-line for maintenance for up to 4 hours (maybe longer if we run into a snag) This is a rather large undertaking. I trust you'll bear with me. Thank you.

When I say I won't, I won't. Period. No need to swear. Yes, and why don't you just use the one you'd want to have your password sent to in the future as the one you enter now? Your current forum profile already has an account from a free internet email provider listed, why not use that one? Safe swoops Sangiro

Heya all, As I mentioned in an earlier post we are revamping the entire Dropzone.com log in system. To do so we need to migrate all existing users to a new database. The scripts doing this migration validates all email addresses before the user is moved. Please check your email address in your FULL PROFILE and make sure it: 1) is a valid NON dropzone.com email address 2) does not have typos (i.e. people forget the .com or type ,com) 3) does not have some kind of "spam protector" phrase or word. (like me@nospam_eartlink.com, or meateartlinkdotcom) In the new login application you will be required to maintain a valid email address in your account. This will not be shared with the public or appear in the forums. You can enter a second email that will be your public email address that will be displayed here. Go to the myDZ link in the top right corner of any page or click on the link below. make sure you are logged in and click on "Modify my Profile" to update your information. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/login/login.cgi It is VERY IMPORTANT that you check and make sure you have a working NON dropzone.com email address in your full profile. I will likely send a validation email to everyone when they log in the first time after the new system has been implemented. Heya all, While I try to intervene as little as possible in these forums (especially in this one) there should be no illusion with anyone that I will do whatever is necessary to protect the character that I'm envisioning for Dropzone.com. This is a friendly, inviting and inclusive place where people should feel safe to voice their opinions. I would rather shut this forum down than have it any other way. I will not hesitate to permanently remove the posting permissions of anyone who abuse the privilege. I am in awe and very honored to have you guys hang out here, but I'm by no stretch of the imagination into "pleasing everyone". If you've been here for a while you'll know that, if not, take note. These are hard times for a lot of people in the BASE community. I understand that and my thoughts are with you. You can help each other through it by showing respect and compassion. Lets keep our cool.

Done! Hehehe! Excellent. We'll check the loads tomorrow and decide what else to move to the other server. Please let me know if you see mySQL errors anywhere on the site. There could be some scripts that may still look for the database on this server. I trust we caught most (if not all) of them but let me know if you find something and we'll fix it. Hope this makes it faster!

Heya all, I receive quite a few emails and PMs every day. (understatement!) I love them! Don't stop writing. Just wanted to let you know that I'm putting almost every free minute I have into the server migration and updating the log-in and user profile functions. So.... I'm behind, even more so then usually. I'll do my best to get back to everyone who took the time to write to me. Apologies for the delays. Keep the faith!

Hey, I'm rebuilding the log in system and user profiles. It should go live in the next few weeks. you will then be able to select your canopy from any canopy listed in the gear database. Hang on till then.

It simply checks to see whether the email address comply with the format of a working email address. It does not send an email to check if it works. With that being said, the new system will require a working email address where it will send a validation email after signup for you to activate your account. I may do this with existing accounts as well at some stage. Yes, a dropzone.com email address will work for now, but will not be accepted in the future... think about it, it doesn't really make sense... if you loose your password and request that it be emailed to you, then due to the fact that you don't have yopur password you will also not be able to get into your dropzone.com mail... how will you pick up your new password. If you can, use and external email address. You can always use your dropzone.com address as the address you display in your final profile.

I understand that. I can ssure you (think how many times my email address is appears on this site!!) I am fighting the spam war every day! If you don't want to update your email address now, then keep checking back to this thread on a daily basis. I'll let you knwo just before we do the migration and you can update it then. After the move the current profile will not be available anymore. The email address will become part of your Dropzone.com account (which will not be public), and you will be able to type whatever "bogus" or anti-spam words you like into your new profile again.
