  1. Hell, I laugh at my own title every day! This is a good point and also something everyone new to these boards should take into account. In general, check any advice you receive on Internet message boards or anywhere else with your instructors and people who know and understand your skydiving skill levels before you try to apply it. And like Grant pointed out, remember that some of the Pooh-Bahs on this board will be more Pooh than Bah when it comes to skydiving advice! Welcome to Dropzone.com Mark. Safe swoops Sangiro
  2. Go check under "Edit Profile"... Safe swoops Sangiro
  3. Wendy, When you read an email there's a row of buttons just below the email header information and just above the actual body. Click on the "forward" or "reply" buttons and you'll be presented with CC and BCC fields again before you send it off. Safe swoops Sangiro
  4. It's in storage in San Francisco... I'm pretty sure that by now it's itching just as much as I am. Looking forward to some great runs. Safe swoops Sangiro
  5. From what I understand it could also be the first time a Muff has been seen with a book and may be the only evidence that they can actually write! Safe swoops Sangiro
  6. Heya, Just wanted to let you know that the FBI has finally decided I'm not a threat to American national security (well, not that big a one anyway!) and apporved my visa. It's comforting to know they still know less about myself than I do! If all goes according to plan I should be in LA on Sunday. If not Sunday it will be days after... the weeks of waiting is over.
  7. I'm no HTML pro but the [ ] markup tags are proprietary to the forums only. I can assure you the rest of the site was built using normal HTML tags. Safe swoops Sangiro
  8. My thoughts exactly! I'm sure it's annoying to a handful of people when others don't close their tags.I can spend time building a "tag-checker" and people will figure out how to do something else that will annoy someone else. Sit back, relax, help me educate the people who get it wrong and enjoy the features that are there. I would like to spend my time building additional value add features (like the Stolen and Lost Gear database) rather than scratch every itch someone has on this site. Safe swoops Sangiro
  9. Dreamweaver. I won't knock FrontPage because it's a Microsoft product... I'll gladly knock it because it's crap though.
  10. ...and we suddenly noticed an unusual surge in the number of hits in the BASE forum as everyone flock over there to try their hand at it... so to speak! Safe swoops Sangiro
  11. Yup - it went up to around 950 guests a short while ago. I suspect Google just went through here.
  12. I agree with the first and the third points.... You are the second person to assume because I don't buy Don's waffle that I don't understand what he means. I can assure you I have quite the ability to grasp complex arguments and discussions. This one is rather simple, no need to bold anything in a post to me. Don said that if elected he'll "give his all" for us. Well, all we want him to give us is his unchanged statement before he sues. He's loud all right. He just doesn't say much. Safe swoops Sangiro
  13. I can assure you that will not happen. The odds are stacked heavily in my favor to prevent it. I have every intent to protect the character of the community I'm trying to create here. Anyone who do a bit of research in these forums will be able to understand my resolve around this. Here's a snippet: I stand by this. I don't care whether you're the "president of the brotherhood of I don't give a damn what", or whether you personally invented the self-folding parachute. We have very few rules here. They are meant to maintain an environment where anyone and everyone will feel comfortable asking questions and making comments without being spat at. When you come here you either adhere to them or you move right along. In most cases, just being nice seems to work fine!

    Lurkers...

Wow... you folks should really register and join the party! Safe swoops Sangiro
  15. Thanks - fixed it. There's bound to be a few more. Safe swoops Sangiro
  16. Phree, It goes to the email address in your on your Dropzone.com Full profile. Here's a little "work-around" though if you want it to go somewhere else (or want it to go to a second, or third address as well): - Log out of Dropzone.com. - Go to the Stolen and Lost Gear email update subscribe page - You'll notice it now asks for your name and email address - Fill in whatever you want and wherever you want the email to go - Go back and repeat if you want to add more email addresses - You'll have to log in again before you can list an item Safe swoops Sangiro
  17. Heya all, I've created a Stolen and Lost Gear Database for Dropzone.com. I'm hoping this will help a few people find their stuff and make life miserable for gear thieves. Anyone registered Dropzone.com user can list a stolen item. Read the Listing Guidelines before you list and item. I'm hoping we can get information about stolen or lost gear out to a broad audience as quickly as possible. Riggers and DZO's should consider subscribing to receive the Email Updates. This will email any new listings to you on a daily basis. You will not receive and email on days when there are no new listings. You can also click on the "Full List" link on the database page and print out a summary of the entire content of the database to post at your DZ or keep in your gear bag. Everyone in the market for second-hand gear, check the database before you buy. http://www.dropzone.com/stolen/ I'm hoping to extend the database in the future to enable you to register your gear (even if it's not stolen or lost) to create an online record of all your gear, serial numbers etc. Feel free to add your lost items. Hope this helps.

  20. Oh I know very well what he means, I just don't buy it. After years of witnessing his arrogance and abrasive attitude, I don't buy this "I'll fall on the grenade for all the oppressed fun jumpers" routine. I'm sure there will be some who'll gobble it up though. The Dropzone.com Forums was created exactly because people like Don turned the other place where I used to enjoy hanging out into an unfriendly and patronizing environment. Now that that attitude has brought rec.skydiving to a point where it receives less posts in a month that Dropzone.com does in 2 days (check Mailgate.org), Don suddenly shows up here and tells us how he's going to "give his all" for us. I'm slightly skeptical to say the least. You buy it if you want to. I'm with quade on this one, he needs to start building bridges. From where I stand you cannot make a reputation out of insulting and degrading people, and then suddenly become the martyr for their cause. Rome wasn't built in a day. Safe swoops Sangiro
  21. Any time. While I was in your office I found that big can of BS you keep under your desk that you've been feeding people on rec.skydiving for as long as I can remember. It seems like you're trying to give us some of that over here as well. If you don't want the job (as you've now said many times), don't post, keep quiet, keep a low profile, nobody will know about you, nobody will vote for you, you won't be elected, you won't get the job, we'll all be better off and you'll be happier because you won't be doing something you really don't want to do. Either that or at least stand up and say, yes, I actually can and want to make a difference. Here's how I'm going to do it. Vote for me. You're either not being truthful and insulting our intelligence with a weak attempt at reverse psychology, or you're someone who really doesn't want to be on the board and therefor doesn't deserve to be elected. Which one is it? Safe swoops Sangiro
  22. That's a bit of selective quoting.... there's more to it as should be clear from reading the whole set of post guidelines. The incidents forum is for discussing actual incidents. This post is a link to a site about incidents. I see the link, but it's not what that forum is for. The Incidents and Women Only forums are heavily moderated for obvious reasons. Don't be surprised if your post is on the cusp and we opt for being less lenient than in other forums. Safe swoops Sangiro
  23. I know not everyone reads the Photography and Video forum so here's a link to Brent Finley's post on the Ripley's Believe it or Not incident. Safe swoops Sangiro
  24. Somewhat related. Take a look at this post and this page. Safe swoops Sangiro
