  1. One year's pop/popular music becomes next decade/century's traditional music. When it comes to enjoying music, BREAK DOWN THE BARRIERS! If you like it, that's what counts. There is some music that a country would consider 'traditional' that we listening to it, would consider crappy 'pop' music. It is ethnocentric for us to judge another country's music. For example, you hear Bossa Nova music in movies, advertisements, elevators and grocery stores....it's only been around since 1957. The last few years, a new 'bossa nova' movement, led by DJs and singers like Bebel Gilberto, have redefined that genre. Which is POP and which is Traditional??? Doesn't matter if you groove to it!! marc
  2. yeah and when the plane does a go-around while rick is still hangin out there!

  4. That is sooo awesome to see a photo taken just a short while ago of all of you! One more reason why dz.com is such a fun break during work, and a great way to communicate among ourselves! Seems like only last week that I saw JRAF and Cora at zhills....oh wait, it WAS only last week! You guys get around!! What restaurant was that??? JRAF, you should take everyone over to Berghoffs to meet the regulars....
  5. that would leave out alysse, she always reads everything but never posts.....but we'll be out of town anyway oren and ron....I agree with your judging criteria, sounds fair.....Have FUN everyone! marc ps how many otters at zhills for boogie? can dz.commers fill all three for a big way??
  6. I have lived in a variety of cultures, and humor is definitely culture-bound. And beyond mere language differences. Especially political cartoons and comic strips....I knew I was finally immersed in a culture when I could understand why everyone around me was laughing at something.... Related to that is how a culture reacts to someone FARTING....some places everyone is stony silent. In other places people will comment out loud in a 'caring' way....other places the reaction can be quite crude.... "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton

  9. They tore down the old motel 6 and built a new one a couple years ago. It's definitely the best deal near the tunnel, we have stayed there a number of times.... marc
  10. Janine at the zhills Hard Dock Cafe always has good food for vegetarians, and always makes veggie lasagna and other goodies when she cooks big dinners during all boogies! Great food, and lots of it! mp
  11. Being a vegetarian for 20 years (I do eat fish sometimes), hasn't lowered my cholesterol at all.... And it hasn't stopped me from gaining weight (beer is vegetarian, right?) I love the smells of bbq ribs and so on, but I don't miss the steaks and hotdogs....I ate enough of those to last me a lifetime anyway! Whole Foods is coming to Sarasota. True they have a great selection....but why is 'natural food' so expensive?? Marc
  12. hey ron, you back on the 'sauce'?? this thread has legs! it's getting funnier by the hour! mp
  13. Not quite the same story....but I was in Chicago last month, and riding on the train back to the airport. glanced over the adverts above the windows, and saw a good friend from high school, pictured and named (no it wasn't the '10 most wanted list'!) .....I might try to get in contact..... marc

Have a happy turkey day everyone! Zhills is a blast this week, hope to see some of you there! JRAF is on his way down, his presence will add to the solemn and prayful nature of the Thanksgiving dinner at skydive city! 21. So that's what happened! The sunset load was in the air when the airport closed the airspace, so the plane couldn't complete jumprun, and had to land at Vandenberg airport, about 30 minutes away by car. Cars were sent out to pick everyone up....and they returned after dark! marc
  22. http://www.keyhole.com/index.html?promo=hpp-en-us-1 Have you seen this yet? Google just bought Keyhole aerial mapping....they have a link to it on www.google.com as well. You will have to download a 7 day trial, and register for it (they send a license key via your email). Once installed, you can choose any place in the USA, and it zooms and tilts and pans using your mouse. It even gets 3-D when the terrain allows it. I zoomed in on zhills as if I was in freefall, then using the tilt and zoom together, landed right in the peas. Next, I swooped the pond!! cool! marc
  23. For all you Deland folks, returning to Deland Art Fair this weekend is my friend Russell Donnellon. He is really one of the best guitar players you will ever hear! He played at the Montreal Jazz Festival and many other venues this year. It's a free show and he will be playing all weekend long. His music is very eclectic.....flamenco, gypsy music, old blues and standards, lots of original work, radiohead, police, bob marley, etc...all filtered through his musical genius and talented fingers! Thanksgiving weekend he will be playing at St Augustine Art Show, and the following weekend in Palm Harbor. He is not a skydiver, but has been hanging out with us, the muff bros and the bomb squad at zhills....and really livened up a party or two last week! If you see him there, Be sure to say 'HI!'
  24. yeah, like the skyventure wind tunnel?
