  1. I got the Sentricon termite monitor system around the perimeter of my house. Works very well. Costs about $300/year. Block Houses still have wood in them! New house as you mention will be up to hurricane specs. Just make sure you have room for all those RC toys of yours!!! Good luck! marc
  2. numbers available???? hmmm.... I did not realize that Oren started up his airport limo service... Arlo, I am sure Janine will have a nice buffet dinner, and there's always Muff Punch!! Look for us at the bomb squad table, muff brother boogie can't be missed! Marc and Alysse
  3. Congrats and Best wishes to both of you. It's been a tough year for you, and an eventful one. Now let's see you at the dz! marc
  4. Hi everyone, Cora's post yesterday about her training to walk the 3 day 60 mile fund raiser reminded me of how I prepared for my walk around the Island of Shikoku in Japan. In 1989 I walked the path of a 1200 year old Buddhist Pilgrimage in Japan. I walked through rice fields, forests, mountains, along coastline. It took me seven weeks! The interesting part is that the path was a circle....I ended up where I started (with a few more blisters and alot more ability to speak Japanese!) The people were very friendly to me, offering me meals, places to stay, gifts and even cash to help out. So for those interested in foreign adventures, here is a section of the journal I wrote while on the Shikoku Pilgrimage Path, the 'Henro Michi'. Marc
  5. so does that mean we all have a place to stay when in thailand? hmmm...muff brothers house in thailand...sounds like a dream come true....coughcough mp
  6. Right on Johnny! I may be getting older, but I'm still Immature! muffmuffmuff marc ps see ya at the muff brothers boogie this weekend!!
  7. All are good suggestions. I like some of the rockport hiking boots..... I prepared for a 1000 mile hike by using them on the treadmill, making sure I varied the 'terrain' while walking....So you exercise all the leg muscles and break in the boots. marc
  8. lets not forget one of the Beatles Best albums "Rubber Soul"
  9. Well, if you took the kids, it had to be done! But if you want some fun, try the rides at Adventure Island in Universal....not that it is any cheaper.... And if you really want to have fun, and really blow the big bucks....get some wind tunnel time!!! That will empty the pocket book and max out your credit cards!!!! Disney will look inexpensive after that!!! hope to see you this weekend at zhills Roy! marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
  10. My birth certificate says I was born in Chicago. I guess that makes me a NATIVE AMERICAN!
  11. Ron or Sally Hathaway are fine coaches for flatflying. The tunnel coaches are fine, but for anything advanced, someone like Ron or Sally Hathaway has many techniques and exercises to help fliers get what they need to learn.
  12. Check out http://www.tunnelcoach.com/schedule/index.php The schedule shows full slots for your dates, but plenty of openings on march 14 and 20. Contact Sally and Martin, if something opens up they can put you in a slot...
  13. nuttin says ya have to read them all! heaviosity requires multiple readings... that last one is almost Buddhist.... Personally, I saw a lot of these on my last job marc
  14. I just found this on a business/career management site. I can't figure out how much this is 'tongue in cheek'....there are some outrageous statements, real back-stabbing stuff, yet some very true to life ones too.... Which are your favorites? Which are most bullshit? Which are most true to life in your job? Marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
  15. yeah but do they know your waist size and cholesterol results? mp
  16. Snow Crash is an excellent book, and fun read! As you mention, it's ideas are slowly becoming reality. Highly recommended! (by neil stephenson)
  17. Ok Greenies, feel free to move this to speakers corner if it starts getting political and flaming.....I post it in Bonfire because it's funny! The local Pizza Hut/Dominos already uses caller id linked to their databases to find your usual order when you telephone in....Here's a vision of what they will know about you once they start combining more customer/marketing databases with that. www.aclu.org/pizza marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
  18. wow no kiddin'! We had raccoons living in our attic last fall....the animal wranglers tossed 'predator urine' (urine from bobcats and other big cats) around up there to scare them out....worked fine, but the house smelled like a giant litter box for a day! where do they get predator urine from anyway.....? That would be a weird job....here kitty kitty..... mp "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
  19. I think they call it a 'slackrope'.... I tried it for 3 seconds....I will stick to freefall! much safer... By the way, there are great off road bicycle trails, and a 7 mile paved circular bicycle/rollerblade trail just down the road on morris bridge...... or you could rassle the gators in Lake Motski swoop pond.... see ya there! marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
  20. where have you been staying? I got in over 20 jumps a week ago at zhills....have done nearly 40 in the last month....would have jumped more but got lazy and had some days with only 2-3 skydives..... today certainly is awful....but it will dry up soon! marc
  21. heck, we've been wearing tshirts and shorts at zhills most of february (cooler at nite and early mornings) some 'winter', huh?

  23. At work, you always see those 'Teamwork' posters showing a big round of skydivers.....but where I work, teamwork like that is often lacking. I like to explain how skydiving is truly a team effort.... --you plan the jump and jump the plan --timing is everything --we look out for each other safety wise --no one person gets all the credit --if one or more fail, the effort fails, BUT --we all have a great time together, teach each other, and try it again and again --afterwards we get together with a few beers to celebrate the effort etc.... marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
  24. Busch Gardens! Great rides and zoo.... Zhills of course! Great entertainment at the muff brothers trailer! Tarpon Springs pastries....yes, those bakeries are amazing! Ybor on a weekend nite...wow! Columbias for dinner to get the energy going to walk up and down 7th st and dance all nite!!!
