  4. So I'm at the local DZ in Cuatla near my moms house when I hear some of my friends talking about this Tom ay-yay-ya-ellloo guy. I hear this: "What do you think that guy does for a living????? He's like shazam on the internet....He must have some psychic 3rd sense that lets him know when naughty people are about. " I turn around from my pack-job an remark, "I know Tom ....... he wears the hat of 'Industrial Gravity Tester' proudly." Unfortunately the translation wasn't quite accurate, and I think a few left thinking he weighed metals for a living. Talk about miscommunications. So here's to Tom ...................... Internet Guardian, Free-Fall Whore, and last but not least Weigher of Metals. 5. Absolutely............. you(not You....of course ) are retarded if you think that the DA doesn't appreciate you doing all of there evidence gathering for free. Post some video.... or even better a high quality photo of yourself jumping in a NPS area, and see what happens. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.AdrenalineExploits.com P.S. 8 Weeks till fun in the sun ....................only 2 slots left per expedition ................... mmmmmmmmm ........ juicy video.... Homer likes..................I keep getting it mixed up .... is C2 a beverage ?????????
  6. Yes.... I'll help organize some "assisted" tracking jumps. It looks like I will have S/M/L sizes for people to try out. Due to the possible distance covered, just like wingsuit jumps, everyday we will get a new flight path from manifest that will work out with the rest of everyone else. As far as flying with other people, or even flying with someone in older-style pants........ it's a waste of time........... unless you like looking several thousand feet down and behind at people. I will not be taking any orders at The Boogie, as all sales must go thru the contracted vendor(Square2). I will only be there as a rep allowing people to play with the GOODS...... As Lou pointed out...... due to the crowded skies, I will only lend gear out to people with 100+ skydives. For 2 reasons........one is that with the coverable distance it's quite easy to fly yourself into someone else's jump. Two is that at the Moab Boogie, I lent them out to some people who could not land parachutes, and they returned the loaners with butt holes, and sand stains...... First BASE Gear

I have heard that Brian built one as a prototype, that was jumped by Clint here in Colorado many years ago. I believe it exploded on opening during a terminal jump from an airplane during testing. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  9. Sorry Fellow....... thats all I got ............ I wasn't exactly the model of sobriety that evening either. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  10. I really like pc-9's . I have used 2 of mine for years without any problems. I found an almost brand new one on ebay for 399 with shipping. I have been told that newer "inexpensive" line of Sony cameras come with lenses that are not Carl Zeis(s.p.) lenses. They are made by Sony under license from Zeis. The total quality of theses 250.00-600.00$ consumer grade cameras is much less than there more expensive models. They are 90% plastic and will not hold up for long in a parachuting enviroment in general. My suggestion if you are going to buy a cheaper camera is to buy it from either Sams or Costco, and to hang on to all packaging and receipts as they have a 5 year no question return policy ;) !! When you start adding super quality(300.00$ +) wide angle lenses to your camera, you will see the difference in the quality between a "Real" zeis lens, and a cheap one. Just my .02 $$$$ Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  11. In addition to what Dex said..... I'd also like to personally thank him for one of the worst hangovers of my life........ the day after Bridge-Day......I owe you one.....or two maybe ??? Look at what he did to my poor room-mate. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  12. I will bring along 3 or 4 full tracking suits for people to play with from Dec 29-Jan 3. I will be taking orders for all Phoenix Fly products including the V-1 s. Get ready to track your nuts off........... Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  13. It's not that it "can" be a dangerous sport......the reality of it is that there are not many sports that compare ..... name one that you go to funerals on a regular basis. Or better yet in your other sports..... how many "other" sport friends do you have that are crippled???? I see more naive people not realizing how dumb/dangerous they are compared to I Don't care about life types. I agree that it "can" be a dangerous sport... and it is. When I got up to go snowbaording yesterday(18 " fresh) I didn't take a med kit, I didn't alert my friends as to look for me if I don't check in, and I seriously doubt that with over 1000 ski days, I was going to get killed or even hurt. Even with a 1000 jumps...... anything can happen on any jump. You can minimize it, pretend it doesn't exist, or even rationalize it all day..... but BAD things happen to experienced/not experienced people. Deny this and you deny reality..... just look at Nick's Site. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com

Nick, Is the article next to the ad about a certain jumper taking a slider down rig to terminal in California and breaking a riser??? If so ..... how could I get a copy of that. The certain jumper is having a going away party at my families restaurant tomorrow evening as he is moving away from us. Any chance you could scan/photo a copy and send it to me if it is??? jayepstein@hotmail.com Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  15. I see.... I guess my reply is more related to the comparing of the two incidents. I guess its probably difficult for anybody to explain to others why giving up everything is worth the risk to achieve a goal...... be it a an Olympic Gold or a nice gravity fed free-fall. I think outsiders have a problem because BASE, rightly so, is attached to injury and death, while you rarely see or hear of people pursuing other "normal" hobbies being killed or crippled. A lot of this is perception ... It's also impossible to explain to people the things that BASE does for you inside. It's too..... personal.... Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  16. Just an opinion ...... The only thing similar in my mind, is the fact that both incidents were life threatening. BASE is dangerous ...... hucking yourself off of an object, tossing out a piece of nylon that drags out another bunch of nylon that is connected to you by fine strings, is never going to be safe. A friend of mine puts it like this...... when you go out on a BASE mission/trip its like going to war...... everyone may come back intact, but more than likely there is a likelihood of an injury or death... even to yourself. I know of very few people in the sport who have not seen a fatality in person, or at least been to a jumper friends funeral. I hunted for years. The sport(or pastime in many cases) is riddled with "Accidents" involving ones self or others in ones party. Who you choose to hunt with, and how you choose to take simple firearm safety will almost completely protect you from getting dead. I truly believe what we do is more dangerous per person than almost any other "Sport" out there. Just like the manufacturer says : Even if the gear is assembled, packed, and jumped in ideal conditions........ there is a very real potential for injury or death. Any-one getting into this "Sport" with the expectations that it can't happen to them , that they are to smart/analitical/anal/carefull/conservative ........better realize the potential price for playing is....Dying a painful death/crippling ones self/ watching a friend get hurt/killed. Trying to downplay what the very real-deal about this "Sport" is, will only give people more ammunition against you later in the sport. Last year a friend from the local DZ who wants to get into BASE brought his girlfriend out to the R.G. bridge on Sunday . He had been telling her about how safe jumping was . How if he made all the right decisions and was super conservative, he could live a happy and long life jumping simple object like this Bridge. 10 minutes later Dwaine died............ He'll never jump shit as long as he's with this person...... Just food for thought........ Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  17. 3 or 4 of the us from the Colorado Crew will be out there flying the freindly skies. I will be bringing a few P.F Tracking suits out for people to demo over the holiday boogie. Can't wait to make some non-Eskino jumps......weeeeeee Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  18. Check out the rope walker system at onrope1.com . They are an amazing source for knowledge and gear in relation to long rope equipment. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  19. I agree that people and especially myself(as I'd like to live till tomorrow), need to pay attention, I think the point some people are trying to make is that every "controllable" part of a jump needs to be made as "safe" and "forgiving" as possible in case of user-error, or just plain bad luck or probability. I spent many years cave-diving,which is another unforgiving sport in a harsh environment. Every part of tech-diving is filled with redundancy and simplicity. The weirdest things can happen when you try it over and over and over again. All it takes in a pack-job is perhaps a fold at the wrong place to roll over a larks-headed. Eventually given enough time...... everyone will have an issue with any piece of gear that is not "Fool-Proof"......... unfortunately it's not fool proof, until enough people die being a fool. In the big picture........ sounds pretty foolish..... Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com

  21. This years March Madness Helicopter based trips are mostly full. I spoke to one or two individuals at Bridge Day this year that expressed interest , and I promised to hold slots for them open. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE...... please drop me an email and let me know how to get ahold of you. We will be in the Canyon with the bird March 1-11, and 12-20th. I will announce Dec 1st if we are going to run a third trip this year, or if we have any slots left available for the first two. 23. Spiderbaby went into free-fall....... and we all laughed so hard no one could jump for a few minutes......one of the more classic moments caught on tape. Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  24. Hey Durango, Nice to have met you at the MOAB boogie. I think If you are serious..... the right thing would be to call Jimmy at Vertigo (435-259-1085), and have him custom order you the correct canopy in the correct size. Anything is possible . Like you said before, I always warn Big-Boned people that they don't bounce well. E=MC2 . Just because you are twice the weight/size, does not mean that your bones are twice as strong. Working in extra margins in safety and training are a must. Putting in those extra skydives and Potato-Span jumps to learn all you can about how the only thing keeping you from injuring/killing yourself is that piece of nylon over your head, and that you need to nail the landing each and every time will bring you longevity in the sport. It's easy to want instant gratification, and cut corners..... just realize....... off/no flair landings feel bad !!!! p.s. Being a rigger is a real bonus in understanding/maintaining you gear . Lucky your already there...... Jay Epstein Ramirez www.adrenalineexploits.com
  25. I'll dig up Chile-Willy's #. He can fill you in on all there is to know about skydiving down there. I've spent a few winters in Santiago snow-boarding and skydiving. Very small population of jumpers down there. No BASE jumpers that I have met..... quite a few in Argentina. Talk to Niko at Vertigo... uh hum Apex . He lives in Buenos Aires, and has a few friends that I have jumped with. I believe they have a 300 ft bridge with an Australian type do or die landing area. I have looked at multiple exit points in the winter up and around Portillo near the Argentinean border. Mostly accessible by helicopter. There is actually a helicopter that lives up at the Ski area. I have used it a handful of times. The problem with cliffs in South America is there lack of access and remoteness in location. Winter and weather conditions are highly unstable, and mountaineering/alpine skills are quite necessary. Good luck and I'll pm you Willys contact info..... he's the man.....
