Come to Skydive Chicago instead, its only 15 minutes away and if everything goes as planned I'll be there along w/ Cypres420 (DZ.commer but doesn't post much.) CHris
-
I'd be happy to jump w/ you but I'm in another state along with most of the people on this site. IMHO you will have better chances finding someone to jump w/ if you ask people at your DZ rather than asking on a web site that people from all over the world read. Just my 2 cents. CHris

How the hell did you hook up w/ the girl from " The Big Comphy(sp) Couch"? CHris

Made my first jump when I was 18 and now I'm 20. CHris

"What do you do with witches?" "BURN 'em" "And what do you burn apart from wiches?" "MORE WITCHES!" "Wood?" "Goooood" "So, why do witches burn?" "Cause they're made of wood?" "Goooood" "So, what can you do with wood" "Build a bridge out of 'er" "Ahhh, but can't you also make bridges out of stone?" "Oh yeah" "Does wood sink in water?" "No, it floats. Throw her into the pond!!" "What else floats in water?" "Grass, very small rocks, Apples, lead - lead" "A duck!" "Exactly!" "So..." "If she weighs as much as a duck, then she's made of wood" "And therefore?" "A WITCH, A WITCH!!!" "Come, we shall use my larger scales." CHris

Start out w/ buying the essentials first so you're not borrowning all of the time. While I was in AFP I started out buying my own goggles, altimeter and a pair of gloves. After I graduated I would sneak into the AFP room and "borrow" a helmet and a jumpsuit for my day of jumping. I did this for about 10 jumps and I think "they" were on to me so I bought a Bonehead and jumped in my clothes (RW and FF). My advice for a jumpsuit when your starting out is to go to Wal-Mart. I picked up a pair of windpants w/ a sweat pant liner so they are warm and a sweat shirt for $15. Thats my new jumpsuit and when the pants get all torn up I'll get another pair for like $8. CHris

Thanks Bill. The only reason I asked about the psycho pack being any less reliable than the pro is because nobody seems to do it at my DZ. I personally like it a lot better that the pro because I find it a hell of a lot easier and quicker. I still haven't jumped a psycho packed canopy. I plan to jump my psycho hornet as soon as I get down to a DZ and have a rigger make sure I hooked my main up to my risers correctly. CHris

Didn't Jennifer Love Hewitt make a couple of posts? Username: Jenlove, Jennlove(?) Or was that some crazy HAHO jumper CHris
-
Is the psycho pack generally as reliable as a pro pack? What are the cons of a psycho pack? (other than putting a line twist in your lines. IMHO you would have to be an idiot to not untwist them when the canopy is in the bag) CHris

we'll give you some time to attach it. CHris

Do Skydivers Get Excited About Rollercoasters?
Slowfaller replied to scottbre's topic in The Bonfire
Rollercoasters are still fun. Waiting in lines is a bummer but when you finally sit down in that car (preferably the back) and start to roll my adrenaline starts to flow. There are always hot girls there that you can comfort when they're scared and then take them on a water ride so their shirts get all wet and then go to the food court and drink some beer. There is no law that states you have to be sober to go on rollercoasters, you just need to have a strong stomach. CHris -
Good luck on the heathiest decision you can make. I'm going on 5 weeks of being smoke free and I have some advice for you. Its a big, huge, gigantic mind game. When that craving hits you be stuborn and don't give in to your urge. What helped me is to think of how I was going to skydive (spend all of my money) and nothing was going to stop me. Use that same mindset, you're quitting smoking and nothing is going to get in the way, not even the little voices in your head CHris

two loads in a row, the 1st one went to 17,500 and the second one went to 17,000. I had a bloody nose on the second load when we were on jump run. I thought that the guy next to me was trying to say I had snot on my nose It ended up being the coolest 2-way sit/stand fly I've ever done and my face didn't get too bloody during freefall. CHris

Luckly I started skydiving before I had anything to lose I still drive my shit box and actually gained a girlfriend who is willing to try it (already has a tandem rain check for when the weather gets better). I did lose friendships but, time has a lot to do w/ that. What skydiving has prevent me from doing is getting a brand new car and moving out of my parents house. I did stop pot for a while but that had nothing to do w/ skydiving. I don't buy it and smoke it maybe once a month Also, I rely on Birthdays and Xmas for new clothes. I don't care though, I have a new rig CHris

I have a pair of DC's that I still wear regularly and they are over 3 years old. I've had them since my Junior year of high school and have made every jump in 'em and that was after I skated the hell out of them back when I did skate. Tough as nails those are. CHris

Out of all my friends, from High School, I'm the only one who doesn't care to play or learn how to play chess. And I'm the only one who skydives. Coincedence? CHris

I've put about 20-25 jumps on a Sabre2 150 at 1.1:1. I love the it, ESPECIALLY the landings. I was on a Safire and the Sabre2 lands so much better that the Safire. I feel like I'm flying the canopy instead of just flairing it. I have never had problems w/ the end cells closing on me but the last 5 or so jumps I did I had about an 180 degree off heading opening each time. It wasn't the same Sabre2 (rental gear) and I didn't pack it so there is nobody to blame (packer, canopy or poor body position). I was going to buy a Sabre2 until I heard about the Hornet, which is in my rig right now. Haven't jumped my Hornet yet. CHris
