Don't waste too much time on it.. R99 has pushed his theory for a decade that the flightpath was actually over TBAR and Cooper died over TBAR.. There is no evidence for it and he will bend reality, manufacture evidence and deny reason to defend his theory. Toxic confirmation bias..

That is right, I remembered reading that but couldn't recall the source.. I think Martin wrote about it as well..

2011 Cooper symposium... https://themountainnewswa.net/2011/11/29/db-cooper-symposium-delivers-solid-information-and-analysis/ Metzler had an audience member put on the NB 8 to demonstrate how difficult the rig is to don for the uninitiated.
-
I believe so,, but the FBI mix up with the rigs makes it uncertain the rig Cooper actually took. He left Hayden's rig for sure. He likely took Cossey's custom NB6/8 but there is a possibility he took one from McChord. It is complex.. the FBI parachute descriptions conflict in more than one dimension, Hayden vs Cossey and colours, if you know what I mean. Cossey claimed his NB6/8 was a sage green harness and sage green container.. FBI file,,, both back chutes olive drab, FBI file,,, back chutes,, one tan, one olive drab FBI file,,, unsub used sage green parachute Hayden claimed his chutes were identical. Important, Cossey was informed of the chutes left on the plane and ASSUMED Cooper used his sage green/sage green NB6/8 by elimination.. Cossey didn't know about Hayden's chute or that the FBI potentially mixed them up.. Cossey rejected found chutes that were not sage green/sage green based on an assumption,, this may or may not have been correct. This throws into doubt all the chutes Cossey rejected. Tina,, "She also commented that he appeared to be completely familiar with the parachutes which had been furnished to him"

FBI confirmed Hahneman was on an aircrew in WW2. They claimed he was also in Korea and Vietnam but I can't find any military record for those. He claimed he was a Vietnam veteran and paratrooper but I have not confirmed either. It was common for him to embellish and tell half truths.. He worked in various countries in South East Asia for most of the 1960's under several contracts.. until Aug 1971. When Hahneman jumped in '72 he took apart one of the chutes and left the parts on the plane, he walked backward down the airstairs and went off back first. That was the method 377 suggested for Cooper. He did not ask for airstair operation instruction..
-
Cooper also rejected the instructions... Hard to imagine somebody with NO training or experience about to make their first jump out the back of a 727 rejecting the parachute instructions. The evidence indicates Cooper had at least some parachute training or experience.
-
It indicates Cooper had experience with a military harness. How many people have military harness experience and ZERO training or jumps?
-
You do have to have experience to put on a military harness quickly without instructions..
-
This is just not true,,, There are indications that he had military chute experience. He put the chute on ASAP rejecting the instructions and he asked for a knapsack which is a military paratrooper term/item.. Himmelsbach claimed he asked for chutes from McChord. He chose the military chute. Hahneman successfully made a nearly identical jump with a military chute, at night over a dark rural jungle with money and 2000 cigarettes.. He backed down the stairs and jumped off back first just as 377 speculated Cooper may have done. There are several other examples of 727 parachute hijackers surviving.. To conclude the conditions caused Cooper to die in the jump is extreme confirmation bias based on unfounded assumptions.. we all have some but that is beyond reason.
-
great comment,, I agree, it is highly probable Cooper survived the jump.
-
R99, you are wrong about virtually everything, please give up,, I can't take it. You are flinging crazy non-sequitors and misinformation around.. Yes it is the same packing card.. "In addition, the chute was re-packed twice – in 1982 and 1984 – after its return from the FBI, according to Norman." https://themountainnewswa.net/2011/10/25/db-cooper-case-heats-up-again-with-controversy-over-parachutes/ It matches the FBI data (S/N & date) for the back chute and also matches the FBI noted (S/N & date) for the one returned to Hayden. Accept it,, there is no intellectual escape, it is over.. THE CHUTES DON'T MATCH COOPER DID NOT JUMP WITH EITHER OF HAYDEN'S CHUTES...
-
My god, you are dense.. look at the packing card for Hayden's returned chute that I ALREADY POSTED... 226 is the S/N Clearly, you can't comprehend simple facts... and manufacture your own reality. This is the front and back of packing card from Hayden's returned chute - it DOES NOT MATCH the info on the card found in the pocket of the back chute left on the plane,,, THERE IS NO WAY AROUND IT.
-
I don't need to do anything, you are the one that is confused. both of Hayden's chutes are accounted for, Cooper did not use either of Hayden's chutes,,, get it. Two similar back chutes were sent from Hayden. Both packed by Cossey the same date. 1) Pioneer packed by Cossey May 21/71 manufactured 1960 S/N 60-9707. This was left on the plane confirmed by card found in chute. 2) Pioneer packed by Cossey May 21/71 manufactured 1957 S/N 226. Confirmed by packing card. This was returned to Hayden then went to museum. There is no packing card or data for the NB8 .
-
For Cooper surviving or not that is just an opinion, not really anywhere to go from there. The chutes. As usual R99, to maintain your denial, you toss in lots of assumptions that just don't add up. Hayden claimed the FBI chute descriptions (not the card data) are wrong and didn't come from him. Hayden claimed his two chutes were identical. (Pioneers) Hayden even speculated that perhaps there were two sets of back chutes.. one set from him and one set from Cossey. The chute Cooper took was an NB-8. (Cossey) The descriptor S/N and type are mixed up because of the way it is filled out on the card.. the descriptor is below the line. The descriptor can easily be misread as above the text. So, that isn't an issue. The data is correct, it came from the card which was in the chute pocket. The fact is the data on the cards DO NOT MATCH, if that isn't a problem for you or anybody then you should give up and leave this case. This is so obvious it is ridiculous to deny.. Set aside your bias and look at the facts objectively.
-
More indication Cooper was military... also.. "he has heard that the parachutes furnished to the man were a commercial brand named Pioneer and now surplus Navy parachute NB-8". Cossey claimed it was his NB-8,, Hayden had two identical Pioneer chutes. Both of Hayden's Pioneer chutes are accounted for.. One returned, one left on the plane.. Hayden packing card for chute returned. Serial number and date does not match Pioneer chute left of plane. Cooper DID NOT take either of Hayden's chutes.
-
Same here, I started out about 50/50 or less, now lean strongly that he survived.. Hahneman walked backwards down the ventral stairs and jumped out of a 727 at night with money and cigarettes over the jungle from 9,000 feet with a military chute from Andrews AFB, he walked 10 miles to a road and had sustained very minor injuries. Cooper's jump was very similar, he could have survived. Of course we don't have proof one way or the other, it is irresponsible to claim he died based on evidence. It is an opinion.

10,000 foot jumping was the oxygen threshold in the Air Force training pamphlet AFP-10-3 (1960's).. Was Cooper in the Air Force?? Pamphlet can be read here.. many pages cover the 10,000 ft level... http://www.chingchic.com/your-body-in-flight---afp-160-10-3-department-of-the-air-force.html

Ask him what you think is more accurate.. If it was Hahneman. I'd be all over it.. but, I am in a bit of a sensitive negotiation with the FBI right now.. You aren't doing this to prove anything to others, you do it for yourself. Who cares what others think. The result may be nothing,, or it may support your suspect or perhaps the case in general. Do it, Blevins

His email is right there in the link I posted, just ask him?? Why he thinks Cooper is dead.. easy assumption but does he have inside info. and why he claimed it was inside job,, and what does that even mean exactly?? Was it a personal opinion? What is the worst that he can say...
-
Bentz's has no first hand evidence, his claim even if he is being honest is meaningless. You need to pursue Jarvis's claim.
-
Troy Bentz's perception is actually irrelevant... If Cooper were alive he'd be in his 90's, most likely he has died... a reasonable assumption by Jarvis. Did you contact Jarvis, contact.. http://sociology.as.virginia.edu/jarvis

Many agents claim McCoy was Cooper.. Agents opinions are not evidence.. Something I learned long ago is that opinions/conjecture is worthless without context. People can say anything.. what is really important is why they have that opinion.. what is their argument.. how did they reach that conclusion. Most of the time there is nothing there to back it up. The opinion itself it worthless without a well constructed argument. The worst thing one can do is to accept an opinion based on who claims it not why they claimed it. Always look beyond the claim.. Some opinions/conjecture are well founded, most are not.
-
Actually, no it doesn't whatsoever. It helps sort it out, but it doesn't rely on it. The key evidence is the packing cards not matching proving Cooper didn't take either of Hayden's chutes. No way around that. Dismissing Cossey and Bruce doesn't make any difference. If he didn't take either of Hayden's chutes... to distill your argument.. he took one of Hayden's because Cossey and Bruce are not credible and Hayden is,, that isn't an argument, it is ridiculous. So, if he didn't take one of Hayden's and in your opinion didn't take one of Cossey's then what did Cooper jump with?? Rejecting Cossey's chute isn't an argument that resolves this.. Attacking Cossey and Bruce's interview is a straw-man. I really find dismissing Bruce's interview, especially quotes from Hayden as false without any evidence completely reckless and even irrational. Much of that interview is backed up by the evidence. None is inconsistent. The Amboy chute has nothing to do with this. We don't know why Cossey said what he said, there may have been a reason for it we are unaware of.. The context we have to understand is the perspectives of Cossey and Hayden at the time,, neither had any knowledge of each other or the chutes after they sent them in, they are expressing their opinions, their assumptions not facts. It isn't a matter of one is correct and the other is lying. Both are expressing their perception that doesn't mean either is lying.
-
Bruce's interview with Hayden is solid, he quoted Hayden and published it.. You have no evidence anything in that interview is false or you would have pointed it out,, attacking somebody's cred in general isn't a good argument when you can't show a falsehood. What is important in that interview are the statements by Hayden. My take fits all the evidence we have, it may not be exact but it is close.. You make a serious error, repeatedly, there is NO conflict between Hayden and Cossey. Their stories are compatible from each of their perspectives at the time.. Neither knows if their chutes went on the plane.. they both assumed. You actually think the FBI doesn't care if a major witness lies in a high profile case for decades undermining the case.. seriously.

Here is my take on this putting together the incomplete and seemingly conflicting info we have so far.. it may change if more info can be found. Cooper asks for two military back chutes from McChord. Cooper updates his demand to 4 chutes - two back and two chest reserve chutes. McChord is contacted but for some reason McChord can't get the right chutes. (maybe the FBI wanted back chutes with no D rings for the chest reserve and dummy so they couldn't be used) Hayden is contacted, he sends by cab two identical back chutes, both packed by Cossey May 21, 1971. Cossey is contacted, he sends in a Pioneer and an NB8 from his home by cab. Linn Emerick is contacted at Issaquah Sky Sports he grabs a front reserve and a dummy front reserve, the police transport them. Both packed by Cossey. The FBI tells Crew/Tina chutes are coming from McChord, Cooper still believes chutes coming from McChord. Chutes arrive at a staging area and are mingled, the two front reserve chutes, Hayden's Pioneer and one of Cossey's chutes are sent to the plane. Cooper tosses instructions sent with chutes.. he did not remove/look at the packing cards. Cooper leaves behind a Pioneer back chute and the good front reserve. Cooper jumps with one a back chute. The front dummy goes missing. Cossey is told by the FBI that a Pioneer was left behind, he assumes Cooper used his modified NB8. (The Pioneer left behind was Hayden's based on the packing date, Cossey thought his Pioneer was left behind) Hayden believing Cooper used his chute requested the one left behind on the plane, it was returned to him in 1975. The packing card for the chute Hayden received back doesn't match the packing card found in the pocket of chute Cooper left on the plane. Both of Hayden's chutes are accounted for after the hijacking. Hayden claimed both his chutes were identical. The FBI description of the chutes matches Cossey's description of his chutes, not Hayden's. Cooper used one of Cossey's back chutes.. He assumed it was the NB8 based on the fact that a Pioneer was left behind which he thought was his other chute.. it was Hayden's. ---------------- Cossey may have messed with reporters, perhaps he was instructed by the FBI to hold back some info but I really doubt he spent decades lying to the FBI, a serious felony easily exposed by them.
