  1. I think it was my most favorite jump so far. Very educational and it tested my ability to think on my "feet". Schuweeeet
  2. I had a skydiving video library on my comp. that rivaled that of skydivingmovies.com with several gigs worth of vids from Headdown, skydivingmovies and miscleaneous personal jump videos. Then my HDD crashed...bah...
  3. The tracking dive was a spur of the moment thing and obviously wasn't spotted too well. We would have been fine had we done RW... The leader made it back because she's like 110 lbs with a light wingloading, and probably pulled around 5K instead of 3...
  4. I didn't say Fir...err, yeah....I didn't say the F word!
  5. Ok, not the entire load, just us trackers. We did a 7-way tracking dive yesterday out of an Otter from 13K. We ended up exiting just past the DZ and tracked about a mile and a half away. Being the incredible noob I am, I wasn't really paying attention to the ground. I pulled at 3K and was like...ok where the hell is the DZ! But even people that opened up at 5K weren't able to make it back, except for the dive leader. I hung on my Rear Risers for a while until I spotted where I was going to land. It was a pretty big back yard. WLIE was to my left and it looked as if he was going to land there also. Then he cut over and headed for the field across the street. I figured it was for a good reason so I followed him over. I was too high so I did an S-turn and was still slightly too high, but the powerlines wouldn't have allowed me to drop any lower, so I traveled over the highway (rural) and came down in the far edge of the field. Unfortunately my canopy fell over a rather large sapling, about 15 ft. A very nice woman in the house about 20 yards away asked if I needed a ladder, and proceded to pull one out for me. It three of us skydivers to get the 'chute out of the tree w/o damaging it. I got some shit from Luke for not landing in the MIDDLE of the field...where it's nice and open, but I was already in a semi-braked approach and didn't feel like doing any s-turns so low, and I wanted to stay as far from the powerlines as possible. All in all I feel it was a great pre-second land out.
  6. I've done a bunch of my jumps in street clothes. Here's some basic guidelines. 1. Make sure there are no weird loops or anything on your shorts or shirt big enough for a hackey to fit through, thus causing an impossible pull. 2. Make sure the shirt you wear is tucked in well, you might think about a belt to be sure, and be sure that there is not enough slack for the shirt to bunch up over your handles. That's basically it. Just make sure that nothing's hanging out, and nothing touches your handles.
  7. I believe you'll still keep your posting numbers. From my understanding of it, as soon as you make a post, your userfile is updated with the new post number. So even if every single post you ever made was erased, your profile will still say X posts. That is unless you really tick HH off

  9. I have 41 jumps and no license yet. I'm actually only a coached jump away I think, but my skills suck since I don't get to jump regularly; 1 - The S&TA taught me how to pack and watches me occasionally while keeping the DZ under control. 2 - I've jumped at 2 other DZ's besides my home DZ. They were Wright Brothers Skydiving and Lost Prairy. Basically I showed them my logbook and told them that I got my S/L training at K-pow and I'm basically eligible for my "A", other than the checkdive and a couple minor things. They reviewed my logbook and let me jump. Simple as that. Although all things considered, they were rather small DZ's. 3 - My first jump off student status was actually a 7-way with a few of the "older" guys at the DZ. All I wanted to do was Lurk, but when I asked them, the felt I would be safer participating. The concept scared the hell out of me but I was in good hands.
  10. I've got a whole 41 jumps in nearly 13 months...soon to be 45 though
  11. And how many of them would have computers capapable of doing...well...anything?
  12. I would be scared to death to jump a 5lb rig...what's in it? Styrofoam?
  13. What's his name, number, address and name of first born. I'll take care of him. Seriously though, someone told you that..?
  14. An act of sexyness you say? Once with a gf we were watching a movie and sharing a piece of lemon mering (sp?) pie, and I had a little on my lip so she beckoned me even closer and slowly licked and sucked it off my lip. The movie went off really damn quick after that
  15. Go out there and have FUN! I'm a heck of a lot worse off than you. I'm 5'9" @ 260lbs. I've got 41 jumps, one was a 7 way, 4 way, a couple 3 ways and a several 2ways with a buddy of mine. Of course I was wearing a baggy ass suit and was flying as flat as possible and still having fallrate problems, but there's been no danger (err...relatively), and I've yet to be injured (knock on wood).
  16. I believe you are mistaken. Won't a good track minimize vertical descent while maximizing horizontal travel? You don't generally want to fall faster during a track...
  17. Another thing you might think about though is this. If someone is...unknowleged enough to pick up the wrong rig loaded with a smaller canopy, who's to say that person is really going to know how a 150 looks vs a napkin? The only canopy they've likely seen is a 280-290. Obviously it would not be ideal to have them land the napkin, but should they cutaway a perfectly good/safe 150 just because it's smaller than what they usually jump?
  18. I started when I was 17 last august. Best decision I've ever made
  19. I think his post more or less is saying that a rig is good for 120 days, and at that time, the reserve is repacked and the rig is inspected and claimed "airworthy" again. Sort of a different way of looking at it is all
  20. mmm, VSE Infinity And your not far from Kapowsin where the infinity is built. Do a search for infinity and you'll find nothing but good comments about the rig, customer service, and riggerfriendlyness
  21. No one here has said that if your gear is over X age, you should retire it. Now you're putting words in our mouths. We are only curious as to the age of your rig. Obviously if your rigger is repacking the reserve, and hasn't said anything to you about replacing the rig, or about it's airworthyness, it is still very much airworthy. For clerification, age does have an effect on a rigs airworthyness. Over time, the fabric in the MLW and other areas of the rig can wear out, for the simple cause of the environment. Just like people, rigs CAN become a bit weaker when they're aged. Like I said, no one here is saying that that's the case with your rig. And there's no way to tell, online, if your rig needs replacing due to age, and everyone here knows this. We're just curious, so please, indulge us?
