With India, Ceylon Sri Lanka , Burma, Etc... ALL being so frickin' cold! The problem with ladies who are native to hot countries is that they tend to cover up to protect against the climate! Burkhas & Gandouras, etc... were originally more a climate thing than a religion thing It's the "Sub-Arctic" girlies who are suddenly warmed up that're most interesting! Be honest! You got it wrong dumping all that tea into the cold waters of Boston Harbour... ANd "Iced-Tea"[vomit] is nothing more than a refusal to admit your original mistake. Mike. Edited to add: IF we MUST discuss Iced-Tea[vomit], then may we have the appropriate emoticon please?

you can! - on Saturday - 3rd place match who wants to referee? - keep your whistle handy What's one more whistle when Renaldo has the ball!!? Judging by France Vs Portugal, the supporters have come to their own conclusions on the Renaldo-Rooney incident. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. An innings? I was thinking more along the lines of 85 for 1, declared, after 90 minutes of play. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Prenait la pisse hors du FrançaisCanadiens méridionaux puisqu'avant lui à la mode.

I'm not, don't have, and wasn't (in that order) I'm not, haven't, wasn't, and didn't (in that order)! Between the grammar and your proven prediliction for using an "Americanism" when roused, you will surely concede that my suspicions, while possibly unfounded, do have some prima-facie basis? Mike. Earl Grey should be served with lemon not milk... tut tut! We're talking about Dubbie here... One step at a time! Hence the suggestion to put the milk in first. I do prefer a little milk in mine rather than Lemon, which I feel brings a competition of flavours to Earl Grey. Plus... Lemon is ever so slightly "Lower-Middle-Class", something which is more economical because it doesn't turn. Mike. Edited to add: I really thought I'd draw Flak for suggesting Fair Trade rather than milk! Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. So... Portugal: 0 -- 1 :France. After the Germany-Italy game, that was crap! If I'd been there I'd be demanding my money back by now. And where was the referee from? While Portugal seemed to be a bit too fond of lying down any time a French player came near, there were some strange decisions against Portugal. Anyway... On present showing, Italy should win against France by a cricket score. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. I may be more able to understand your meaning if you were to use punctuation correctly! Perhaps Timmay is actually an American? (struck out under "Personal-Attack" Rules) has a part American ancestry? (again!) was educated, or actually originated, somewhere "West of Ireland"? Mike. Nope. Mike is pi$$ed off because Germany was knocked out. I would have loved to see a Germany-England final, with Germany winning. THAT would have given England the chance to knock France out in the semi-finals (always a pleasing prospect). Still, my hopes must now rest with Portugal. For me, the Germany-Italy game was more than two hours of superb, top-class football. I'd defy anyone to pick out any highlights in that game. IT continuously ebbed & flowed from one end of the pitch to the other and both teams gave their very best throughout. It was EVERYTHING that a football match should be and it was impossible to be disappointed at the end regardless of who you supported. I doubt we'll see better football... It really should have been the final. Mike. PS: Has the German economy gone into recession yet..? Or are the England WAGs still shopping? North Korea: Two Missiles Test Fired, A Third Failed
miked10270 replied to Michele's topic in Speakers Corner
Ah yes... The dynastic perversion of "Communism". 1984 brought to life. I suspect that the only NK news announcement on the firings will be along the lines of: "Former rocket scientists move into agriculture as Rice Farm Labourers & Fertiliser... Record High crops predicted thanks to Dear Leader's genius!" Mike. Edited to add: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/5149512.stm#here In the meantime, Japan has wisely banned a NK-Japan ferry service. It's the only delivery vehicle they had that was able to consistently reach Japan! Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Hot tea? I thought Boston Harbor was cooler than that. I think that was the last Tea Party that we had here. Don't you see!!? From Boston Harbour right through to your modern equivalent perversion; Iced Tea [vomit], the root cause of The "American-Problem" (as it's referred to in all those countries you've never heard of & can't spell, let alone find) is your inability to take your tea at a proper temperature! I'm sure that were Dubbie to start the day with a nice, HOT cup of tea (Fair trade, Earl Grey, Milk in first), instead of perpetually "Going for a cheeseburger" (and no doubt Coffee(), then I'm sure that he'd be a better, calmer, more intelligent national leader. I'll bet that Sir Ronald Reagan, KGB (Knight Grand Cross of the most noble order of the Bath) was a tea drinker in the proper, British sense. He'd have had to be since he regularly took Tea with The Queen and Lady Thatcher... And look at what a superb leader he was. I'd go as far as to say that even today, he'd make a better President than the present incumbent, or even any of the likely 2008 niminees! Mike. PS. "Niminees" is not a typo. yeah - ok - but what were they waiting to 122nd minute for They were pacing themselves! That was 2 hours of superb & very evenly matched football. Italy took the gamble and surged in the closing 90 seconds - and it paid off with their first goal. What was really impressive was that instead of then playing for time & playing safe, Italy continued to play an aggressive energetic game, and were rewarded with their second goal. Well done, & a well deserved win. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Prenait la pisse hors du FrançaisCanadiens méridionaux puisqu'avant lui à la mode.

Naahh... You just know that Italy will want to leave early, & France will pack it in after the first 5 minutes! Mike. Edited to add: Germany: 0 -- 2 :Italy! And what a game! Both were superb. God knows where Italy got that surge un the closing seconds of a 2 hour+ game. I think everyone thought it'd go to penalties. Excellent idea! Would it be possible to cap 'said Grand Canyon with some form of heat exchanger & steam turbine system? Thus the Colorado River could be used to provide masses of green energy - a sort of diversification into McPower, or Energy-King? We'd need a condenser system to allow the river to continue to power the Boulder Dam. But I digress... ...it is evident that we need not even concern ourselves with relatively minor issues ... is entirely feasible and could probably be undertaken with very little preparation and a fairly meager budget. Fine. They'll fit. We can keep a few of the skinny ones to staff the power station. Enticing the remainder in will be relatively simple with the appropriate mix of pretend Oprah-Style TV Studios, people in foam cartoon-animal costumes and free burger outlets. Intelligent, well reasoned and practical. always assuming that Americans have enough geographical savvy to get there!!? Mike. Who would you vote for or like in office in 2008
miked10270 replied to kenneth21441's topic in Speakers Corner
FWIW - most (maybe all?) of the members of the original Contrinental Congress were British subjects by birth, but many of them were born in the American colonies. Yeah... They were all immigrants or second-generation at most (and not a single set of papers between the lot of them - I guess that today that would make them Wetbacks). The point was that they were still in touch with the English Political Intelligensia of the time. At this time, King George III was on the throne and suffering from a recurring kidney complaint that caused him to believe that he was a small farmhouse in Norfolk (or similar). This did not sit well with the prevailing model of government. Too much power for the available sanity! The proposal was that the lower house (Commons), instead of being dissolved and formed at the whim of the (mad) monarch, would sit for a fixed period between elections. The upper house(Lords), rather than being all appointed by the (mad) monarch, would also be elected, with the upper & lower house elections being staggered. (Is this starting to sound familiar yet?) The Monarch's power would be effectively limited to one of veto if he were in conflict with the elected houses, but he would retain his "court" and be able to promote policy, declare war, etc... The only difference between the proposal for English Political Reform and the American Government model is that while the Monarchy was hereditary, you have elected a president. In effect, America (wisely) nicked a British idea. The difference which avcoided letting a George III into power allowed Dubbie in. Y'All decide which version was worse! Anyway... THIS give us Brits the moral right to tell you former colonials how to govern. Also, you STILL haven't paid for the tea! Mike. miked10270 replied to kenneth21441's topic in Speakers Corner
Well... WE Brits did design it for you, didn't we! Although it was originally promoted as a solution the our "George III problem" of the time. It'd work well in Britain as well, only we have the monarchy as an unelected head of state. If someone doesn't have to go through all the mechanisms of buying enough popularity to be elected, then that person doesn't have any debts to repay. Another option would be to simply conscript the richest "self-made" man under 60 and have him serve a term or two. I believe that Bill Gates is available now. Or do you think that any of your likely candidates would be better than Bill? Mike. PS: I would have said non-Americans. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable.
