I'm practicing. It's very exhausting, I don't know how so many people can keep up the act so intensively. (insert laughing "gender/race/religion/origin neutral" emoticon replacement symbol here) But, YOU ARE RIGHT, I'm so insensitive that I never ever noticed how incredibly racist emoticons are. How about that? Sangiro and the moderators have a lot to answer for. for the children ... Look, the poor and the middle class NEED to have what THEY require as a MINIMUM level of coverage they are REQUIRED to pay for. And who is better to set a MINIMUM bar for everyone, than a bunch of entitled people that make 6, 7 or 8 figure incomes? ... Listened to parts of the calls. the girlfriend didn't sound like a terrified woman being threatened with a gun. she sounded like a pissed off crazy woman I bet the stuff up to that first call was weird and wild in the movie versions - GZ will likely be played by Adam Sandler. he's likely kind of a creep. and either is a really bad guy but a genius actor - or the most unlucky guy in recent history. either way, he makes really bad choices. He should just move to a small, isolated island and read books ... What a great post. The good definition of "liberal" is a great thing. but..... There are a lot of people that falsely label themselves as such that don't care one bit about making things better for all. They are looking for petty excuses to be outraged (as long as it doesn't take any real effort). And for reasons to just try and feel like they are better than others (as long as it doesn't take any real effort). The rest is just about getting special treatment over others. A good and sincere liberal is a like a good and sincere conservative - they both mean well and have real things they are concerned about for themselves and society as a whole. they are both also very rare too People are people, the labels don't mean much in the end - we all want decent lives and something good for our children, and beyond that, we wish well for others too. This is the only thing I really trust in human nature. this petty thing - that others need to be ground to dust 'just because' - it's a kind of new thing. and scary. This idea that the 'other' side is nasty and pure evil with horrible intentions - that's just lazy politics. 'lazy' seems to be a real theme lately. taking away people's self reliance and self determination......it's a pretty clear path on how this all evolved. reliance on others breeds contempt - both ways. human nature is simple. ... Do they charge you a penalty tax if you don't buy a car? Terrible analogy, professor. If you want to use cars, then the ACA requires all Americans to purchase a vehicle, and is must have certain features. You must purchase: heated seats backup cameras airbags (side and front) hybrid halogen lights that turn but you don't need Sirius radio you do need TomTom - even if you have nav on your phone for the children ... I always forget the fact that GZ & OJ were both found not guilty, and therefore should be accorded all due respect. I'm certain the behavior that GZ exhibits in the future will prove all of his detractors wrong about his character and not being a valued member of society. actually that's true - 'not guilty' has to mean just that future behavior will be future behavior and judged as is. Anything else is emotional pouting - not justice. (now if new evidence on closed issues comes to light, that's another topic, isn't it) ... this ^ the other stuff is -other- stuff. To be handled separately (or already addressed in court). Bill talked about him not shooting anyone else. I thought this incident was about him being accused of beating on someone. Not shooting. take each accusation one at a time, trial fairly - no 'special' treatment pro or con. Only guilty verdicts get to be used in establishing a trend of behavior. ... I don't consider big to small or small to big to matter one whit. time drifting absolutely does - belly before freefly (typical into the wind jumprun) (the various winds, jump runs, etc absolutely matter, but for the typical/general case, the standard rules from these 80,000 threads on the same subject are just fine). ... Just finished up Stephen Donaldson's last book in the Thomas Covenant series.....The Last Dark. (I wish he'd have finished it with him waking up in front of the car from the first trilogy of the series). now just picking up some single filler books from other series that are finished, but have had a few recent offerings that flesh out the mid plot (Goodkind, Feist) Not quite sure what's next...all my major series that I've been reading for the last couple decades are all completed. I like Grue's list. (even worth coming out ----briefly---- of my absence from the normal crap here) Extremely Libertarian, certainly not Rep, absolutely not Dem. (I don't think cops should be held to a different standard though - I am opposed to the idea that the average guy gets a lesser standard. EVERYONE should be held to the standard that we expect from cops. i.e., cops don't get away with crap because of their position. Someone commits a crime, I don't care if they are wearing a swimsuit, or a badge, a suit, or a sports uniform during a game for that matter - it's a crime - take appropriate action, arrest immediately, fair trial - no exceptions better or worse than the next guy.) ... Overhead is huge still. 3 guys at 40 hours a week each is still a LOT less expensive than employing 4 guys at 30 hours a week each..... so this is, in essence, a proposal for redistribution, really I don't think individuals would want to be gradually reduced in hours. Many like to work and more hours would still be negotiable to more pay. ... AFF student leaves plane without instructor
rehmwa replied to -ftp-'s topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1 - on release dives (Cat C and beyond) the typical instruction is to continue the dive regardless of instructors present or not. The student did exactly his job. (So not so 'obvious') 2 - Likely the Cameraman was not an AFFI - or he'd have known this and not confused the student with a premature pull signal. (but kudos for trying to communicate - even if wrong - and not taking grips when not qualified.) Excellent judgement to not try and take grips or dock on the student. Not her job. 3 - So even better on the part of the student to stick with the plan despite the interference of the cameraman. He demostrated turns and alti awareness very well. Good stability recovery. Too bad he didn't have an instructor to show fwd motion and docking. Needs to maintain body position through the pull - typical. 4 - Good video work. Nice jump. If my student, I'd be very proud. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants -
Pissing on someone with good intentions with a different take than you is not classy. That statement is equivalent to: It's a sorry sight to see an instructor deviate from the coaching plan, confuse his student, and put both himself and the student in danger - just so he can feel like a hero. . . . . there's a HUGE difference between: Pops viewpoint - "It's getting low. Screw him/her, I'm pulling now. He should do better and it's not MY JOB to pull for him." vs More likely alternate "It's getting low, we agreed that in this scenario I'd pull right in front of him if he doesn't see the hand signal. I don't want to confuse him by flying closer and making him think he has more time. Better give a VERY clear signal by pulling now before it's too late for him." ... Speaker's Corner on this topic is really rolling along. Right down to people being dicks and freakishly patronizing to each other with personal attacks and snide, pointless crap.
