It's seriously invasive for the women to have the surgery and only a short procedure for the guy and outpatient. A guy can ready to play in a day or two if done right. It was no question for us who got fixed. Doc Canfield was thorough, snip + remove a segment + cauterize the ends (of course twice). Good job, if you do it, then do it right. I think it's funny/sad how squeamish other guys are about this, especially when you consider the relative surgical risk to their wives for the equivalent surgery. The only exception I can possibly see is if the doc is in there already (for a c-section or the like). Even though I was fixed, I think the emotional toll was still about 99.9% on the wife's side. Edit: I don't think it's 'enlightenment' so much as just thinking it out and using common sense... Edit: Lastly, though, if only one partner really wants it (sterilization), it's only fair that this partner is the one to be subjected to it. Fortuneately, it should be a mutual decision. ... Nicely put, I didn't know anyone else felt the same way here. As a selfish, uncaring, quasi-conservative, I'd say that if it's worth doing, eventually the private sector will get to it and do it cheaper than the government anyway provided they aren't regulated to death in the endeavor. ... That's what I thought. Most social laws are based on the extremes of the issues. Laws 'should' be based on the 'normal' situations yet have appeals for 'special cases'. Problem is, special cases have much more public appeal and can get laws created based on the emotion they generate. (i.e., an idiot does something and the 'proactive' politician, hping to curry emotional favor, cuts in a law that all the rest of us now have to deal with - you think John Rich might have some examples from another area?). ... I've always considered religion a means of laying out basic rules for conduct. It evolved into something spiritual. (i.e., don't eat certain foods, why? they didn't stay fresh way back when. how did it manifest itself? people got sick and died. What did the wise people say? Don't eat that or God will smite you.) OK, it's a food example, but extend the thought to behaviors such as killing, stealing, etc. They served real purposes and gave many people a basis for interaction (=morals). Also gave people a comfort zone for dealing with death. I think religion can provide great strength and comfort and moral training for many. I respect those quietly religious types. It's not for me as it doesn't add up. But others can do what they want. We can all admire the 'righteous' man. Just not the 'self-righteous' man. Religiously speaking. Now the idea of the world-wide organized structure of the 'church' (any type) I just consider a power structure like any political party and subject to corruption. Simply: - praying/self reflection/meditation/self understanding = good - organizations bent on controlling the ignorant populace and telling them how to think and be and, by the way, please overpopulate at a rate faster than the other organized religions = bad or more simply, there's a difference between faith, religion, values and church ... I'm a super Simpson's fan (after season 2 only). But I get more out loud laughs from Family Guy. I had to defect and vote FG. And it really, really, hurt. You are full of it in this statement. The reason those guys are belly down in that pic is likely because the lead flyer (on his back) is giving a poor lead by having too much vertical and not enough horizontal speed (his reverse arch is HUGE). As for what type of flyers those guys prefer, how can you tell if they are primarily RW or FF'er from that picture (other than they are wearing FF suits)? Tracking dives are anything but. Usually since it's slowed down to maintain proximity. That's not the best way to "practice." Try telling someone who specializes in big way belly jumps that they don't practice tracking, I bet he'd look at you and just shake his head. Your pictures do show excellent tracking forms, though, as demonstrated by both RW and FF'ers when you watch those that are good at it. These guys are likely very good at it. Again, great jumpers have the potential to be great trackers, regardless of their primary discipling. (Except CrW, I don't see the link there). ... Since you are on foot (jogging into traffic - left side of the road) and they are on bikes (riding with the direction of traffic - right side). Why would they need to whistle at all since you can both see each other coming from a ways off? (i.e., no one should be coming up from behind the other.....) IPC Subcommittee announces potential rule changes for 2003
rehmwa replied to mjasantos's topic in Relative Work
Bump for 2004 AGENDA FOR FS COMMITTEE OPEN MEETING January 2004 Competition Rules Practicing in a wind tunnel after the draw is made will not be allowed (Section 5 rule 5.2.1) - ok Review the double bust rule where it applies to randoms and NJ situations. (4.7.3) - ?? Change finals to include 10 teams for round 9 and 6 teams for round 10. Teams now seem very close in the final rounds. In 2003, only two points separated the two teams in 3rd place from the team in 5th after 9 rounds in 4-way open. (6.3.8.4 & 6.8.3.5) - no opinion Clarify the definition of a placing and a ranking. - ??? Review the responsibility of catching the exit of a team on video. At present, if an exit is missed, this is an NV and a rejump can result. However, now the Videographer is part of the team, so the exit may be regarded as the videographer’s responsibility, just as in Canopy Formation rules. Now the Videographer is part of the team, it was thought that this is not an NV and it was the responsibility of the team (including the Videographer) to present the exit to the judges. (3.3.2) - I had no idea, thoughts In a similar way, since the Videographer is part of the team, can an NJ still apply in the middle of a jump? - this ties closely to the double bust and whether to remove it - frankly, a bust is a bust, why treat differently? Review the time frame for the female event to have a female Videographer. At present, this is as follows: 2004 the female team may have a male Videographer, but they will not receive a medal, and from 2005 no male Videographers are allowed. Some competitors had reservations about the ability of a videographer to train to an acceptable standard in this time frame. (6.3.6.2 & 4.1) - I don't think a separate class is the right thing to do. But if we must, apply it to all 5 teammates Discuss the possibility of introducing a way to correct/alter/change a given score on a certain point in a situation, that judges call an 'absolute' which has been missed. This could also apply to a bust given wrongly. - ??? ...
